I think your first mistake is assuming half of America is intelligent.

I find it funny how the most homophobic people turn up gay/bi.
Including me.

I have a mate who fucking hates gay people, he verbally abuses this one guy who used to be his good friend, but he found out the guy was gay / bi and now he hates him with a horrible passion.
He talks about beating him up and shit, and occasionally throws in the word poofter or faggot.
It's really sad because he's a pretty liberal guy on all other fronts.
Anyway everyone thinks it's because he's gay and just can't live with it.
Hey.
Hey.
Guess what.
I was raised into thinking homosexuality is a sin, and that god hates fags and that he would send them to hell and whatnot.
I noticed I was attracted to men. I DID NOT LIKE THAT. I TRIED TO BE ATTRACTED TO WOMEN. I WOULD DESPERATELY TRY AND FAP TO LESBIAN AND STRAIGHT PORN TO "CHOOSE" NOT TO BE GAY, TO "FIX" MYSELF. I ALSO USED TO A RAGING HOMOPHOBE, THINKING THAT IF I HATED GAYS ENOUGH, I'LL STOP THINKING ABOUT MEN. BUT GUESS WHAT.
IT DIDN'T WORK.
Homosexuality is not a choice. If it were, I'd choose, and be straight right now. Not because I did not accept, or admit to myself that I was gay (I did this years ago), but because I don't want to be hated by people if they knew.
Wow, you were once me. I took it as far as considering suicide, just to be rid of my homosexuality.
Listen to this man, he knows what he's talking about.

I agree with this statement, I was this way too.
I agree with you.
Homosexuality is a choice, not a locked mind-set.
I grew up believing in the morals of a straight viewpoint. Guys are supposed to like girls, anything else is weird. I became a masterful flirt at a young age. Girls was where it was at. I loved nothing more than to flirt with a pretty girl. Then I hit puberty, and I found out something. I wasn't attracted to girls. I liked guys. It only came about when I started having sexual feelings. It was a strange finding, seeing as I had truly felt that I liked girls the whole time I was a youth. And even still today, I flirt like crazy with women. It's become a nasty habit, and I feel bad drawing them in. But I can't help it. I wish more than anything else to be straight, to get some REAL enjoyment out of women. They look so tempting.
But every single time I try and get close to a woman in a sexual sense, my dick shrivels up. And I wonder why that doesn't happen with guys. Rather, the opposite happens. It is a confusing feeling at first, to say the absolute least. You call being gay a choice? I call it a curse. Could you honestly say that you could wake up tomorrow morning and make the choice to become a true homosexual (not just to ACT gay, but to find guys attractive)? If you can do this, then maybe it really is a choice. Or bisexuality. But if not, then please don't make assumptions about the hell that can be the homosexual life. You have absolutely no idea.

But seriously i feel sorry for some religions because of the stereotypical *insert religion here* that makes a fool of himself on youtube and stuff really reveals the worst of it all turning everything into a real life flame war im talking about the people who do prayers on youtube and the athiests that rant for half an hour as if there getting somewhere.
rather sad really. and kindve offtopic but whatever.
This.
It's like if you go to a gay pride parade and assume that because THESE guys walk around in bondage and speedos, ALL gays must be as flamboyant as THESE gays

Not to start a religious discussion here, but the renaissance was directly caused by the Christian crusaders bringing back old Roman and Greek teachings from the Holy Land. And it was the "Holy Roman Empire" that fell, causing the Dark Ages.
The Catholic church was pretty fucked up back then, however.

That's because we live in a pro-heterosexual society. Straight people are the norm, so most people think they're straight growing up.

WHile it may not be 100% accurate, it's bloody true. Roman's had clean water, public baths. 1000 years later, we're shitting into a hole in the ground.
Religion, Whichever it is, Is the worst Invention of Mankind, Worse than Nuclear weapons. Fact.
It's Killed more, It Hindered about 1000 Years of Scientific Progress, It's completely taken over parts of the world and the way they're run is dictated by some interpretation of a book that you'd only find in the FICTION section of a library, that is, if those parts of the world are even allowed Libraries
Anyway, the way I see it, in America. Everyone has the same rights as everyone else, That's how it was written by the people who fucking BUILT this nation, and they intentionally said Look, we're keeping Religion AND the Government Separated, it's one of the things needed to keep true freedom. Yet Here we are, 45 (or so) out of the 50 states make it illegal for Gays to Marry, simply because of religion, and the views people in power have about the issue because of their religion. Not keeping it very separate to be honest
I applaud those who are religious and refrain from letting it influence their decisions that require impartial judgement
Hell even if you look at nature, like Dogs, cats, Birds, etc etc, There are signs of Homosexuality there too, and given that some of them have only Instinctual behavior.... what's that say about the Gay is a Choice theory? It says it isn't a choice and thus you'll never hear that side of the argument from the religious
Religion, Whatever it is, Is the worst Invention of Mankind, Worse than Nuclear weapons. Fact.
lol. that's fucking stupid.

So what if empirical tests fail?
It's true
How can you claim something so insanely subjective is fact?
Religion is a part of human nature; it will probably never be separated entirely from the race.
If anything religion has just hidden certain individual's true motives and intentions and given them something to hide behind.

Yeah everybody in Rome was enjoying those, not just a elite few, nor were the services being run with slavery or anything.
The whole purpose of life is to reproduce. You can't reproduce with some the same gender as you. We are genetically hard-wired to be attracted to the opposite gender and if you are not, you have a mental disorder.
That's actually a quote from the bible or some shit. The bible doesn't rule everyone you know, and it's not correct either.

Religion killed more people than Nuclear Bombs have, and have definitely started and ended more wars than Nuclear weapons have, That's how it's fact. Religion is worse than Nuclear Weapons

Nuclear weapons have only really ended one war, because after the first time, we realised it was a bad idea. a VERY BAD idea.
Fight to pass laws that prohibit hate propaganda in the media
Only problem in your whole post. I will NEVER fight for a law that doesn't allow people to state their opinion OR facts. HOWEVER, a law against posing opinions as facts is fine by me. If you can back your shit up with science, then by all means, do so.
But notice how no one has really tried to find out whether individuals are born with homosexuality or are just making a choice? The LGBT or whatever community doesn't want to investigate it because they're afraid to be wrong. The anti-gay community is equally afraid of being wrong, so neither group is willing to back up their statements with any credible science. So what then?
It becomes a philosophical question. If people are born gay, how can we justify punishing them? If people choose to be gay, how can we justify taking the freedom to choose away from them? Fact is, it doesn't matter whether you are born gay or if people are innately bisexual or if it's just some choice: no matter how you put it, you cannot punish gays for being gay and call yourself a member of a democratic and free nation because you would be discriminating against them OR attacking their freedoms as a human being.
Now, all that said and as logical as I sound, the idea of homosexuality still creeps me out. I understand why it should be ok, as you can see, but it still doesn't go down well with me. I don't know if that will ever change.

No, morality is a part of human nature. Religion was just an attempt to explain natural phenomena we had no way of understanding. See, the beauty of science is that a human can finally admit there are things out there we don't understand fully, don't understand at all, or even just don't know about, and still be on the right path. That is because a key part of growing intellectually is discovering you actually don't know anything, and many people never reach this point.
I didn't have time to read through the entire thread, but my feelings about homosexuals are as follows: I really don't mind being around them and I respect their sexuality, but the respect needs to go both ways. They need to respect that I am heterosexual. For example, a gay kid sat next to me in one of my classes last year. He's one of the smartest people I know, but he's also very obnoxious about his sexuality. He would make plenty of comments to me just to make me feel uncomfortable, and whenever we passed tests around the room he would drop mine. I didn't know why at first, but then he told me it was so that he could get a look at my behind when I bent over to pick up the papers. I couldn't really say anything because I didn't want to be labeled homophobic. I know that this is just one example and not all homosexuals are like this, but I can sort of understand why some people feel uncomfortable around gays. That's no excuse to mistreat them, though.
Eeh, I never really understood contradicting a religion's "rules" and not following them, and still claim you belong to it...
Yeah seriously, if you support all of those things (abortion, gay marriage(especially abortion)) then you might as well not call yourself a christian
The whole purpose of life is to reproduce.
The purpose of life is to end. Simple as that.

This.
Why would anyone choose to be homosexual in a society with large amounts of homophobia?
