A plea to the "intelligent" half of America RE: Homosexuality

But can you really say you're okay with gays?
I'm a christian, but I'm no where near extremist. Most may find it hard to believe I am, I'm for gay marriage, abortion, etc. And I don't run around trying to recruit people to Christianity. Most of my friends are Atheists, and they're pretty cool guys.

The whole purpose of life is to enjoy the ride while it lasts.
You sure don't sound like a Christian.
this thread isn't about how you think gays should be treated in america, it's more about how much you hate christians. in the future title your threads more appropriately tia
I've said this a few times:
I'm Christian, I believe that even if you don't believe in God you'll go to heaven as long as you're basically good.
Discriminating against people who are homosexual is prejudiced, it's nothing they do. It's the way their mind is from birth, not good or bad.
[editline]SatanLol[/editline]
People rating me disagree are strict Catholics who hate homosexuals.
I agree with you. And you know what? I am christian.
If nothing less, gay people should get at least the possibility to get the social benefits that the other peoples have.
The whole purpose of life is to reproduce.
I beg to differ. That's the whole purpose of life for animals without self-awareness. We have intelligence. We can set us different purposes.
More gays means more gay parades also HIV/AIDS will spread even more!
Living a life of convenience is essentially the trademark of a secularized society. Meaning just because you have the sexual inhibition of a rabbit, doesn't mean you should go fucking guys.
Why not, it's a free country after all. If it was all about the "wellbeing of society and morals", tobacco and alcohol would have to be banned among homosexuality. And porn. And thought-crimes.
Oh hey it reminds me of 1984.
The number of people coming in here proclaiming to be Christians and yet contradicting what the Bible says makes me sad.
There's so many variations of Christianity, you really can't generalize about it anymore.
You sure don't sound like a Christian.
Look, I was raised Catholic. If you look at the stuff Jesus supposedly did in the gospels, he was a pretty laid back dude, too. His whole thing was a "live and let live" deal.
I'm an Atheist, of course, but I find it funny that the word "Christian" means 'Follower of Christ', and many christians today forget Jesus's teachings of tolerance quite conveniently.
The whole purpose of life is to reproduce. You can't reproduce with some the same gender as you. We are genetically hard-wired to be attracted to the opposite gender and if you are not, you have a mental disorder.
What the fuck. I'm sure that a couple of gay people here and there won't stop us from reproducing like mad anyway.
You can't avoid the fact that it isn't what humans are supposed to do though. If we all turn gay we'll die out.
But you will no way help it by outlawing it. It only increases the uproar.

No, animals are horny and want sex.
Humans are horny and want sex, so we have birth control so we can have more and more sex.
When you won't get any sex due to you being too old and/or fucking ugly, you buy fancy cars and boats. So you can lure girls there to have sex with you.

But gays steal all the girls!!1111oneone
This thread is where it's at.
There's no real reason to hate people for their life style. If they choose to live that way, let them.
You can't avoid the fact that it isn't what humans are supposed to do though. If we all turn gay we'll die out.
good thing we aren't all gay.

There's a difference between tolerating something and saying it's acceptable in God's eyes.
There's a difference between tolerating something and saying it's acceptable in God's eyes.
Maybe, but I wouldn't have posted this thread if the hate groups tolerated them, now, would I?
If being gay was a genetic disorder, they wouldn't be able to reproduce and make more gays: they're gay.
I rated you box because threads like these are dumb and almost always end in trolling in flaming, but I agree with your points

I agree with you.
Homosexuality is a choice, not a locked mind-set.

Disorder or no, they are content. Do you show hatred to the mentally ill? The autistic? I sure hope not. And you have no right to try to "fix" them. They are still just as human as you or I, and deserve the same respect you would give a heterosexual man or woman. I don't claim to be deeply religious but my father is a very open Catholic, and I believe in a greater power. I also know a large amount about the Catholic and Christian faith. Those who are using it for their agenda seem to throw out the whole forgive thy neighbor, don't judge people, show love part, and decide they need to do God's job and deem whether each individual human is worthy of existence or not.
I also would like to state that I believe summing up our existence to be a chain of reproduction is highly simplifying the matter. It is an important factor but there is only so much Earth to live on, and many places are suffering from overpopulation issues already. If you truly believe that homosexuality is a disorder, then perhaps consider if it isn't nature's way of slowing us down. I personally favor love being the main factor in our existence, but I'm a sucker for cheesy happy endings. I'm not saying you are wrong, but merely showing that the matter of the purpose of life is highly debatable.
You know who the media doesn't interview?
Homosexuals who are religious.
I'd be quite interested on what they'd say about this matter.
Maybe, but I wouldn't have posted this thread if the hate groups tolerated them, now, would I?
A true Christain does not hate homosexuals, they love them as though they were their own self. They do not agree with the acts the gay person is commiting nor with the lifestyle they chose, but they do not hate them.
What I am trying to say is why people claims themselves belonging to a religion (in this case Christianity) and yet have nothing against stuff that are viewed as sins.
I mean instead of saying you're a Christian, why not just say you believe in a higher power of some sort, a transcendent?
Because Christians also branch into different churches, and every of them has a bit different insight on it.
Also, not even the priests are not completely unite in questions like that.
The thing that many people don't see that you can't take something that some crazy American evangelic maniac as something that every single Christian on earth takes like truth.
I agree with you.

turn gay for 1 day
do it
become sexually attracted to them
As a bisexual I (quite obviously) am all for LGBT rights.

I didn't say I was against it, I am just stating facts.
What people do is up to them. Just because I'm not gay doesn't mean everyone else shouldn't be.
I'm just looking at it from a biological point of view, not personal opinion.

Yeah, but I'm not talking about christians. I'm talking about people who use christianity to veil their obvious hatred.

A genetic disorder you can turn on and off? That's a new one.
