He wants to read it for the fiction aspect, not as a Christian pamphlet.
That's like reading an airplane safety manual as a picture book.
The book is just religious babbling all the way through it.

so many arguments, someone should just write a book review on the bible. I personally couldn't read it all. I believe the bible teaches old morals that were normal back when it was written, but now you should just pick out the correct morals that are fair and believe in them.

Cliffsnotes
It's like reading a 2000+ year old religious book.
I prefer old greek stuff. Got more heroes kicking ass.

McArthur would be proud.
I agree with ZomBuster, there are plenty more old books that are way more kickass.
Bible Black, yes, an extremely interesting story.
The bible by that old geezer, nah, it's a load of bullshit.
Parts of it, though there's a lot of boring parts.
It's fanbase is almost as almost as terrible as Twilights.
Not really. None of the plot ever links up.
They were gonna write a sequel, but they were too busy laughing.
I really need to read this bible everyone is talking about, it's probably better than harry potter.
It's a best seller.
Anon's read it too :D

if you like fiction, i guess
Highly doubt anyone here has actually read the bible with an open conscience, but whatever..
I have a problem with people who criticize all of Christianity and the bible when they only knowing one type of Christian( protestants or catholic). I am a Muslim but find it insulting when people do that. Not all of Christianity is the same in fact the Eastern Christian faith(Orthodox) is not even closing related to any western church and has different bible that far more interesting then western ones. Orthodox Christianity is the actually church founded by Christ and the Apostles with very ancient traditions that is very differently then any western church with more heart/soul. They don't even consider protestant or rest of western church's Christian just some cult based on hatred and forced converts/crusades. I love Orthodox Christians there such wonderful people with warm hearts and souls but I dislikes western ones.

It wasn't until AFTER I had read the bible that i became an atheist..... Go figure.
No, from what I heard from a former preacher.
Go for the Qur’an. Same abrahamic imaginary friend, much shorter, with much better wording and storytelling.
But . . the Qur'an has some actual scientific facts.
And (if you can understand it in Arabic) it is a poetic masterpiece because every verse rhymes yet makes perfect sense.

It is beautifully written, I agree. I've attended a reading before. Even though I couldn't understand it, it was pretty moving. It's pretty good in English, though, and if you're a die-hard religion hater like me, you have to read it at least once (for one must know his enemy). Hell, even if you don't hate religions and are already mixed up in Christianity or some other bullshit, you should at least try out the Qur'an. Like I said before: Same Abrahamic imaginary friend, same events and shit, just with better storytelling, and it's much shorter.
I'm a christian, but I think 90% of the stuff in the bible is just bullshit. That said, I loved it as a book. I mean a glowing being with a giant flaming sword goes around destroying cities. Empires rise and fall. There's love, lust, good morals, and bad morals. I found it rather engaging if you read like it like you would a work of fiction.
And for all of those people saying it's got terrible morals like genocide because they don't believe in your god, read it like you would a harry potter book. Voldemort goes around killing people, do we take those morals to heart?

You are not a true Christian. You're just a hypocrite.

Use christian in a Sentence
–adjective 1. of, pertaining to, or derived from Jesus Christ or His teachings: a Christian faith.
2. of, pertaining to, believing in, or belonging to the religion based on the teachings of Jesus Christ: Spain is a Christian country.
3. of or pertaining to Christians: many Christian deaths in the Crusades.
4. exhibiting a spirit proper to a follower of Jesus Christ; Christlike: She displayed true Christian charity.

I believe in Jesus's teachings. Just not many of the actual occurances in the bible.
