i just saw melt-banana and GOD DAMN they were good
I need help finding a song :c I don't really know the lyrics but you've played it before, I think it's an 80s or a late 70s or maybe even a 90s song, but from what I can remember some of the lyrics are "Then I'm going crazy" or "And I'm going crazy" and "When she walks through the door". During the chorus the singers voice goes high pitched but doesn't sing any words and then it progressively goes down in pitch.
i was rollin thru hollywood today and i was stopped to make a right, and i looked over and steve-o was right fucking there, on the corner, and i said "hi" waved and he waved back, but he was on the phone, and i drove off i was like aaaaaaaaaaaaa

When exactly did Genesis start to suck?
Never until their very last album calling all stations but if you're talking about their switch to pop, they started to suck around the time they released abacab
When exactly did Genesis start to suck?
Go read American Psycho and find out. also: Coma Cinema dude, Mathew Lee Cothran, is putting out new music under his own name. It's just as good. If you like soft sad pop jams, sight this short sub-10 minute EP out. http://mathewleecothran.bandcamp.com/
I think there is potential in the idea of a TV show that attacks small, pretty unknown acts or musicians on the street with Kanye-sized paparazzi swarms. I know The Mars Volta aren't small or unknown even relatively, but this video I think is going in directions that no one else is. www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=D7xkUpH18Nk fuck, why do the media tags not workkkkkkkkk
Go read American Psycho and find out.
I don't get it
american psycho has like 3-4 page pseudo intellectual essays on genesis and stuff. but its a really great book anyway and well worth a read. The film is awesome too. [editline]4th November 2013[/editline] the rat scene tho :(

[editline]4th November 2013[/editline] the rat scene tho :(
I only remember him finding the rat, trapping it in his sink and then acting nonchalant when a woman asked him what that awful smell was to which he replied "Oh, it's a huge fucking rat."
In the film? I can't really remember but in the book it uh expands on it [sp]he cuts her in half with a chainsaw, puts cheese in her guts and puts a funnel in her pussy and puts the rat down it, so the rat eats cheese out her guts via her pussy[/sp] bret easton ellis is an interesting figure
That was definitely exclusive to the book. Would've remembered seeing something like that.
yeah the book is waaay darker than the film. The book's definitely still a satire and critique but it's not a comedy like the film. It's really quite disturbing. He murders a child at a zoo just to see what it's like as well but he doesn't like it cos the kid hadn't done anything with his life so Bateman felt like he hadn't taken anything from him. A lot of his narration is more twisted and bigoted and offensive as well. Theres also cannibalism and necrophilia. However it is a really good book and I recommend it but you need a strong stomach. I actually found the sex scenes harder to read than the murders. They're so clinical. Not erotic at all but obviously that's intended as Bateman is just having sex to create a persona. The film's overall quite similar with some of the stuff they'd not get away with taken out but the change in tone makes it really different. Both are brilliant though.
Need to pick it up sometime. Got a backlog of books to read, hell, I still need to read Fear and Loathing on The Campaign Trail.
I recently finished Naked Lunch and it was a weird one. I kinda lost faith as it went on though because the narrative just gets thinner and thinner and come half way there is literally no plot. Just scenes that are mostly not connected. It's an interesting read that's creative and well written but it has nothing solid to keep you engaged. Reading Blood Meridian just now though, Cormac McCarthy novel. Really liking it. About half way through. Love his prose. Can't wait to see The Counselor despite reviews (his first screenplay). I have No Country which I'll read soon as well, but also got As I Lay Dying and The Forever War. Got myself set for a little while of what should be brilliant reads.
Whoa, I read American Psycho back in September and just this week finished Naked Lunch. I'd have to disagree with you when you say American Psycho isn't a comedy, because I found the book to be probably the funniest thing I've ever read. The stuff about Bateman walking alone on moonlit beaches eating handfuls of sand just because, puking into pottery that wasn't his, also just because, and the whole thing with Luis Carruthers is hilarious. Even his sadistic moments are filled with morbid humor like how he tells everyone he's a doctor after he stabs the kid just to make sure that no one who actually is a doctor or anyone with medical experience would think to get to the kid before Patrick lets him die. Fucked up, but sadistically funny. "Do you have any peyote??"
I was reading American Psycho on the plane and had to stop in case anybody read over my shoulder and thought I was an absolute nutter. I think I was at the zoo bit as well
I actually found the sex scenes harder to read than the murders. They're so clinical. The book is pretty much 50% clothing details and a good portion of it is also detailing the horrible acts he does to women, which are ridiculous and disgusting in their own right.
Actually yeah now you mention it I do remember the book to be full of bitingly dark humour. It's just the film is more obvious with it. The book's packed with lots of just weird things and comments and situations that although they're not obviously hilarious are just absurd and funny in an awkward way. I think I'll read it again at some point soon. Definitely one of my favourite books.
Why does FP have a section for everything (except peoples gross sex crap, ew) but nothing for books. wtf, not even comics and this forum is filled with dorks who get mad about black spiderman and Garry doesn't think to add a place to cry about black spiderman.
They've tried book threads and noone was really into it like, not enough people posted
cause they're all too busy reading. This section has like 12 (maybe) semi-regular posters and half of them are banned half of the time and yet we're still here????
Yeah it kinda sucks. A book subforum would be brilliant. That's what I like about reddit, there's a subreddit for absolutely anything, but at the same time there's not a lot of community on reddit. /r/books is actually pretty good but yeah a place here to discuss would be great- I do remember there being threads but a thread would never last. They just get buried so easily, especially with the state of GD just now. one more subforum in Hobbies wouldn't hurt. Makers Mates appears to have literally one active thread yet it gets to stay. A books subforum would be a great addition imo.
The problem with discussing books it is it is a bit slower, it's not like films where it's an hour and a half and you're done. Even when you're reading quite fast, it can still take a while depending on the book. A thread would survive in a sub forum, but maybe not on it's own. Maybe expanding another one to include books and some other things (but what that would be, i don't know)
