comics too I guess but then you're very right about length and it would end up just being a lot of comics probably, just because of how much quicker they generally are to read. A thread couldn't live that well cos of the time, but I think a subforum would be a good idea. Could have a good sense of community. It's a smart topic. Film and music do well, albeit they're easier and quicker mediums to take in. book subforum pls garry
Yeah, we really need a place to discuss books.
books are gay
book forum failed because people had shitty taste in books for some reason most people on fp who read books read books about guns and people with guns and nothing else
for some reason
book forum failed because people had shitty taste in books for some reason most people on fp who read books read books about guns and people with guns and nothing else
its the same everywhere maybe we should just talk about books in here more often
my favourite book is story of the eye
I finally got around to getting a copy of Catcher in the Rye after about 4 years of constantly borrowing it from the public library. It feels good to actually have money to buy some books
never liked that book that much i know why its "important" but still eh
-snip-
fuck money, money's got me down tonight
never liked that book that much i know why its "important" but still eh
I think I like it so much because I didn't have any expectations for it, I didn't know about it's importance or anything when I first read it, I only learned about it's significance quite awhile after I read it for the 3rd or 4th time
I really need to start reading again, I used to be a super avid reader then gradually stopped for some reason
Sir Edmund was always poker-faced except when he turned purple. Nor did he bat an eyelash now; but the blood did shoot to his face. He removed a pair of fine scissors from his wallet, knelt down, then nimbly inserted the fingers of his left hand into the socket and drew out the eye, while his right hand snipped the obstinate ligaments. Next he presented the small whitish eyeball in a hand reddened with blood. Simone gazed at the absurdity and finally took it in her hand, completely distraught; yet she had no qualms, and instantly amused herself by fondling the depth of her thighs inserting this apparently fluid object. The caress of the eye over the skin is so utterly, so extraordinarily gentle, and the sensation is so bizarre that it has something of a rooster's horrible crowing. Simone meanwhile amused herself by slipping the eye into the profound crevice of her ass, and after lying down on her back and raising her legs and bottom, she tried to keep the eye there simply by squeezing her buttocks together. But all at once, it spat out like a stone squeezed from a cherry, and dropped on the thin belly of the corpse, an inch or so from the cock.
my favorite book is congo, because its the only book ive read of my own conviction i don't remember any of it [editline]4th November 2013[/editline] no my favorite book is milk and cheese
This isn't related to anything I've seen in the music section but I Really am not getting the seemingly bandwagon hate on avenged sevenfold. I don't listen to them anymore, their last two albums were shit, but they didn't really used to be bad but people seem to jump on them as much as nickleback.
I think it's because a lot of people grew out of them and look back at them as "middle school metal." and we all know how much we currently like the music we use to listen to.
i thought they were taylor swift's band?? idk ive never consciously listened to them

catcher in the rye is what every high school student reads and then thinks they can relate to the guy and act all deep after reading it its just really annoying I read high fidelity recently and thought it was sort of bad actually, super dark and just not that great i want more books though i think the best book i've read in the past year was just kids by patti smith which is an excellent book but still like variety
catcher in the rye is what every high school student reads and then thinks they can relate to the guy and act all deep after reading it its just really annoying
acting all deep would be something a phony would do :v:
acting all deep would be something a phony would do :v:
ugh
An entire forum dedicated to people who have only read Roadside Picnic and Metro 2033.
Those are pretty okay books tho. I'm currently reading some collection of Asimov's short stories, has been super interesting so far.
catcher in the rye is the end of quadrophilia but the lite version
ugh
I hate it when people use the term phony tbh, it's just a silly word when you think about it.
i just ugh'ed because i was reminded of all the dumb nerds who used the word all the time after they read that book
I don't know anyone irl who has read catcher in the rye, I hate the word because of this kid I used to know who overused the fuck out of it.
i'd probably discuss more books but i mainly read literature in my native language. i really want to read more english literature though. i dislike reading translations though, and buying originals is expensive because i'll have to order them online.
i remember going into the books megathread the first time and just having some guy talk about how he just read one of those halo spinoff books and how great it was pretty lame tbh
