i remember going into the books megathread the first time and just having some guy talk about how he just read one of those halo spinoff books and how great it was pretty lame tbh
you just made me realise there would be a lot of that stuff cos theres lots of bad people on facepunch and it hurts me I just kind of assume people who read regularly would read good books but I think the same about films and a lot of people tend to watch loads of really bad movies and I dont understand it. [editline]5th November 2013[/editline] watch some bergman and learn about life u PLEBIANS
its weird to think that there's these incredibly large groups of people doing things you think everyone hates and enjoying it
i should probably get around to starting Breakfast of Champions this week
People don't read because they wanna read good books, they read cause they find it entertaining and a lot of people find cheesy books entertaining :v: I read the first Mass Effect novel and it was the most chliché story I've read and it was funny to think about how good the games are compared to this
but why read something bad when there are so many great things out there like some dude in rate the lsat film you watched asked if taken 2 was worth watching and I said it was terrible then he asked if its ok to watch if you're bored But then why not watch a really good film instead of something offensively bad?? (taken 2 is an offensively terrible piece of shit) [editline]5th November 2013[/editline] i just dont get why you would choose to watch a terrible film cos its easy/fun I mean there is a huge amount of really good films that are simple and fun and easy to watch
Oh my god my boss can be such a cunt. She put me to work for 8 days in straight, but I noticed it and said that no way I'm gonna do this (in a super formal manner) and asked her to make me new shift that's not as cruel. She then goes on how it's completely legal and JUST BECAUSE I ASKED HER puts a day off in the middle of the 8 days, which made my weekly work hours shorter than they'd have to be, which would lead me to work extra on other weeks to make it even. Which is a fucking shitty fix to the problem she herself made. And now I had a email argument with her and she just doesn't seem to understand that 8 days of work in a row is fucking awful and she clearly doesn't want to remake that ONE WEEK of shifts which is a piece of cake to do. GOD DAMN how stubborn can you be. [editline]5th November 2013[/editline] Also she told me to concentrate on working instead of how my shifts work. CHRIST.
i remember going into the books megathread the first time and just having some guy talk about how he just read one of those halo spinoff books and how great it was pretty lame tbh
Okay okay. I read The Fall of Reach this year and I thought it was pretty great. It's not like, a modern example of the spirit of mankind and the human struggle or w/e but it's a fun not-complex read. Like the Warhammer books which of there are a lot of really great ones, mostly from Dan Abnett. People absolutely loved Twillight both as a film and a movie, not only dumb teenage girls. If it's entertaining it's good.
Call of Duty is entertaining but that doesn't necessarily mean it's good.
Yea you make a good point, I mean I mentioned Bergman back there but if the only films I watched were from like Bergman or something I'd just get sick of it. tbh I guess i was being a bit hyperbolic because I love a good fun and silly film. Sure I wont learn about the meaning of life or existence from watching the evil dead films but man i could marathon that trilogy any day of the week.
But it's an action game, not a romance novel
Still a form of media.
But it's an action game, not a romance novel
So? Why would it be any different? [editline]5th November 2013[/editline] You also have to keep in mind that people have different standards and appreciate different things, and will therefor value stories and games differently. If a lot of people find something entertaining it's probably not objectively terrible even if you think so - Call of Duty being a good example.
So metric's got a new video for syntetica. I found the link for it on facebook, becouse for some reason it's private
Call of Duty is definitely a well made and completely playable game. But it's just entirely uninteresting to me.
I'll just stick with Frogger and Pacman.
I'll just stick with Frogger and Pacman.
goddamn i'm gonna dig out my frogger disc i don't give a shit that stuff was great
if you dont like frogger you're gay
Frogger is rad, I should download it for my phone. I'm the worst at pacman tho.
I wouldn't say gay, but I also wouldn't say not gay lamo

I read travel adventures / non fiction sorta stuff. It gives me some good ideas for what I wana do. Like trans siberian.
I bought Our Band Could Be Your Life and People Who Eat Darkness which should both be here today or tomorrow. I'm pretty excited to read the former of the two, it sounds like it could be fun. Would also recommend Get In The Van by Henry Rollins cause it's a lot of fun to read.
I like books I'm reading Brighton Rock right now it's okay.

Currently reading Now Wait For Last Year by Philip K. Dick. I intend on finishing it tonight. Also reading A Thousand Splendid Suns, but I cannot remember who wrote it.
