don't know where to ask this but I guess here is good enough.
If I bought a digital piano or keyboard and say that out of all the built in sounds it had, it didn't have honky tonk. using some midi magic or something similar could I use a computer to say, put that sound into the piano/keyboard?
I tried googling this first but couldn't get any answers
Contrary to popular belief nobody gave the album more credit than it ever deserved, a few people liked in on /mu/ and thag was it
i think its like 6/10 rating on allmusic and thats it (realtalk allmusic has some of the least biased reviews)
except it doesn't because some reviewers just pan the entirety of a band's output regardless of how good it is on that site
i used to base my curiosity of an album basically all on its allmusic score which did not work out because not really a great review site
better than pitchfork but still not great
I only read Pitchfork for their news, the reviews are way too biased
They haven't given a single Mars Volta album anything over 5

life guard swag
Saw this band live today, they were so good.

holy fucking shit.
I thought I was the only person who listened to American Football haha.
looks like some people here don't like them.
ohhhh i thought people were talking about the sport..
I did too, naturally
But then I saw the video that was posted earlier. I really love 'Never Meant'. Was really humiliating when I found out I was wrong putting them in the math rock category. I was new to the genre though, haha.
idk American Football are kinda mathy. I wouldnt argue that tag. But if i were to call them anything I'd call them emo.
[editline]10th November 2013[/editline]
lots of emo bands are pretty math rockish anyway
i thought it was common knowledge that american football were emo?
I never really listened to emo besides Promise Ring and Texas is the Reason.
emo owns
gets u all the feels and you're allowed to cry
This girl I liked showed me "This must be the place" by the Talking Heads.
I almost cried listening to it constantly. Never told her this though, since I'm sure she would of thought I was a creep. lol
Anyone want to try a facepunch singalong but with instruments and vocals and slightly more proper maybe?
like this but not: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=GGslDKK3zEk
Anyone one watched Only God Forgives yet? What's with the negative reviews? Is it really that bad? Should I give it a miss?

it's pretty good, a nice night movie.. if you feel it's for you then go for it, don't beat around the bush with the reviews and take a look. If you haven't seen any Refn films then see Bronson and Drive first.
OGF is brilliant. if you've just seen Drive from Refn then basically leave all expectations at the door cos its nothing like it. Well its stylish and has hyperviolence and not a lot of dialogue and Ryan Gosling but not the same. Its pretty heightened but a great trippy watch. Also one word to help you understand a lot of the film-- Oedipus
Its one of my favourite of the year but then again Spring Breakers is probably my favourite film of the year so maybe I am not reliable

apparently Bling Ring was good if you liked that, still need to see it myself

As long it is not a snoozefest, it's good enough for me.Will watch it soon. Quite odd that many criticize it. I mean even Valhalla Rising,a hit and miss, wasn't put down this bad.

So I am guessing it has "Oldboy" kind of feel towards it?
A bit, if you enjoyed Oldboy a lot you could probably get behind Only God Forgives. OGF is more extreme. Very nihilistic, pretty art house, very symbolic and metaphorical. While you can ride with it on a literal level you'll really only get the full experience if you're thinking openly and ready for symbolism. It's a lot to do with overbearing mothers, sex, there's religious stuff in there too... Its like a less obviously crazy Jodorowski film (El Topo/Holy Mountain) and without lsd running through the film reel (it's actually dedicated to Jorodowski) and a bit of Lars Von Trier. If you saw Refn's film Valhalla Rising you should be able to get into the mindset of what you're in for (although I think Only God Forgives is a lot better than Valhalla Rising)

Also you say as long as it's not a snoozefest, it's a very slow film but it's not long. I think so long as you're in the mood it'll enthrall you beginning to end- I caught it in the cinema and was hooked straight away. It took all my attention for its entire running time.
As long it is not a snoozefest
it's a short film, I don't think any film less than 2 hours can be that enduring anyway...

listening to possibly the best compilation I've heard in a long while:

So damn soothing with great artists/genres from modern and classic times..

Slow films wouldn't be a problem as long it keeps me engaged and not bored. Not many movies bore me though so I guess it is ok. Notable culprit would be like New Moon which I couldn't stand watching more than 30 mins of the film...

why even watch this film unless you're a fan of the films/books?

Don't ask man...was "forced" to and I thought why the hell not, it couldn't be that bad but I was wrong... really wrong...:suicide:
im not fighting for any rights, does that mean i have it all?
