Half my friends just picked up extra shifts at their jobs the moment they left school, the rest are applying for shit and I'm sitting here waiting for a response for the 3 tafes I applied to.

Is anyone here a fan of The Verve? They are one of my favourite bands but I have never found anyone who listens to them.
Is anyone here a fan of The Verve? They are one of my favourite bands but I have never found anyone who listens to them.
They're a good shoegaze band that's for sure, and they're quite interesting to listen to.
I'm in that weird limbo between school being over and getting a job/further education right now, for some reason having so much free time is oddly uncomfortable.
I've got one more day of this semester of college left, and then I have a month and a half off. The job I was offered almost a month ago still hasn't called back, and I only have 2 classes next semester. I hate how much free time I have sometimes. I should probably work on scholarships so I can move to Oregon next year, but I've grown so apathetic to everything what with having nothing concrete to do.
Man. 15 hours later im home from my first ever day working on a feature film! My boss (weird to think that actually- never called him that before. I work for a council funded organisation that is mostly about getting kids/young adults making short films, the idea being it keeps them off the streets etc but also allows for career opportunities and stuff) has written and is directing a feature film. Its all being shot Monday-Friday, today being the Monday. Was essentially doing runner type work today. Tomorrow im doing script supervision- got a big ass binder ive gotta sort out for tomorrow. I have legitimate responsibilities aah its scary but cool. Working with some of the best filmmakers in Scotland (no exaggeration), its awesome as hell. Its being shot on a RED Epic (same camera as films like Antichrist, The Social Network, Prometheus- its no beginner's piece of kit) and its fuckin awesome [editline]9th December 2013[/editline] also the latest short film i worked on (assistant director) just went up-- its for Bloody Cuts' short film competition. Imo it turned out really well. Looks awesome.
That's awesome Mikey! Good luck on it. Today I started listening to Anathema. Today I learned that there are two sets of prog rock: musically complex, nice sounding prog and Dream-Theater-styled wankery I don't think I'll ever find a better prog musician than Steven Wilson, honestly.
I seemingly have yet to become bored with anything Omar's done. I certainly get diminishing returns by the time his 4th album of the year comes out, but I like nearly everything he gets his hands on. The drumming during The Bedlam in Goliath era of TMV is, to this day, my favorite drumming on any album ever. Thomas Pridgen's constant and full-force drumming on 'Goliath is an absolutely perfect fit for it.
Mostly agreed. But at the full-force drumming part, Elitch got these sledgehammers that are surprinsingly swift and accurate. First time i saw him live i was waiting for someone to show up with an iron leash collar or something at the end. Crazy stuff. Can we talk about records that are overlooked for no good reason at all? Pony Express Record by Shudder to Think is one of the most interesting post-hardcore albums I've ever heard. I can't compare it to anything else in the genre, but it's cool. More people should listen to it.
I haven't found a project of Wilson's that I've disliked yet, so just in general. I'll have to check that out, I haven't listened to a decent post-hardcore album lately.
Steven wilson is my favourite musician and songwriter by a longshot That said I think his recent stuff is a lot more safe than it used to be, his early 90s stuff was weird and great and sky moves sideways is still one of the best PT albums
got home with tickets watching tortoise live in 4 days sweet

I went to Not So Silent Night on Saturday. I made a little video to show my French class. (It's not fancy or anything I had to make it short)

I had longish hair freshman year, but I was super douchey back then with my all black everything and Disturbed shirts. I'm growing it long again now, but I'm going to do it right this time.
