Nai harvest fuckin killed it as expected, they're always brilliant. Gnarwolves now, hopefully just as good
"IMMENSE AS SHIT" just about sums it up. Last time I got to let loose at a gig must have been... April, also nai harvest :v: how I missed it. [editline]15th December 2013[/editline] Nai harvest are probably the best live band I've seen. They also dropped the best album of 2013. Actually I lie Dads' gig was sick as fuck and that was recent
guys who is this girl that sings this song? skip to 1:05 the song is made by KLEIN but every other song that i have found that was made by that band has some Spanish dude singing
I drink for the taste because I'm a pretentious cocktail bartender asshole :)
im not a cocktail bartender but yes i also drink for taste but sometimes u just wanna get wreckd for cheap but generally i like to drink ales and stuff that are nice cos they taste good
definitely get yourself down to a proper cocktail bar, talk to the bartender, and get him to recommend something based off your tastes. And for fucks sake wetherspoons don't do cocktails and woo woos and sex on the beach are shite
I happen to be a bartender. When you have a job like that you just learn to respect other peoples decisions and tastes regardless of what you happen to like. Its a lot like DJing. But with food. Trust me its cool as shit. Cocktails and proper drinks are fantastic.

It just annoys me because this is what I want to do for a career, and it's been ruined by things like that Tom Cruise film where all he really does is throw bottles around and hit on girls. I think. Haven't seen it, Tom Cruise makes my skin crawl, and I refuse to watch that film. The 80's killed the cocktail industry, trying to make it as cheap and easy as possible.
Cocktail sucks but I like Tom Cruise
I don't see why its even glorified its like chemistry but super easy and most of the work is literally just like any other restaurant job.
I'd say being a bartender is harder than being in a restaurant job. One of our waitresses had five or 6 years good experience but she's finding working in our bar quite tough, and is completely lost to the cocktail world. Because you're out with the customers, not in the back like chefs, there are whole new challenges to face, and sticking to the menu isn't something you can really get away with

There is a knowledge and experience aspect that being a chef or waitress doesn't cover. As for sticking to the menu's most of the places I've worked at usually teach you how to make every menu item but customers of a bar rarely choose to stick to a restaurants drink menu, usually ordering whatever they already know of which is never really on drink menus. And reasonably so, there are thousands upon thousands of drinks out there to try with new ones being invented by mixologists and amateurs everyday. Being a bartender does have a sort of sage like knowledge aspect to it. You need to memorize and know a lot of recipes. On top of that being with the people requires tonnes of (obviously) people skills and charisma. Talking to patrons is probably the most fun part of the job but also happens to be one of the parts Hollywood loves to touch on with people like Tom Cruise and Matthew McConaughey having smug faces and doing parlor trick drink mixes to make the job look like more than it really is. Im sorry when did this thread become lets bitch about being a bartender V2. Whatever bartending is fun and cool as hell and I love my job. Its always great to hear stuff from other bartenders. Tell me what your favourite part of the job is and also a cool story. That and to get back on track tell me what music you listen to whilst bartending.

tempting [editline]16th December 2013[/editline] also good french music
Customers are 100% the best and worst part of the job, apart from cleaning maybe, but that can be alright, and it has to be done. Best story? We did a speed cocktail challenge for a group who came in at 1am on a saturday, but they'd heard about us. 5 cocktails, 5 bartenders, all drinks out, with full garnishes within 2 minutes. Each got handed a fiver, and the vast majority of customers (between 100 and 150 at the time) gave us a massive round of applause. That was satisfying. Being in England, leaving a fiver for a drink is seriously unheard of. We're lucky to walk away with £10 at the end of the night in tips when we split them. Worst part of the industry in this country for sure. We usually have some house music on in the background, something like this: Not my thing, but fits the vibe of a busy room. And we have a dj, who'll just play some modern house, and a bit of cheese. [editline]16th December 2013[/editline] This is my boss, and guy who trained my, making a drink in my bar. That's my shaker, he's absolutely in love with it [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5718552/MKB1POSTER.jpg[/t] One of my drinks on a poster, made by me, rejected by head office, but we use it for promotions anyway. I had to do a photo shoot for the bar the other day, that was a very weird experience
I tip but rarely, I know I should more often but i'm already paying out my arse. That and I'm not really for tipping, I think it's silly most of the time.
Never really thought of tipping.
Yeah, it's just not the done thing, but even saying keep the change on like a £49.50 bill and paying with £50 will give me a little smile. I got really fucked off in Starbucks the other day, when I saw 3 stereotypical starbucks obsessed teenage girls just dropping off all their change into the tip jar for a their drinks, when I will spend 10 minutes making a cocktail and I'll just get a thanks.
Tips are included in the bill at a lot of places here I think.
Thinking about it now I really only tip taxi drivers and thats when I say give them a tenner for say 8 quid fare n let them keep the change to save them fiddling around.
I do not tip then again noone in australia does and noone expects it here either
when me and my friends go to dennys we always tip 6 bux
If I remember correctly, it's actually against the law to tip in Iceland Shit, when I travel and forget to tip I get mean looks. It's not my fault that we're cheap!
I am fairly against tipping. I live in the US and I barely have money as is so if I go somewhere and there's a waiter or someone who just brings refills my water cup I have a real hard time tipping them. I am all for getting my own meals, walking up to somewhere and telling them what I'd want and then having some bell or something inform me of my meal being done so I can go and grab it myself, but that's rarely how any restaurant is. I don't think someone carrying a plate to my table is something deserving of %15 of my bill. Bartenders and Pizza Delivery people seem like totally rational people to tip though. There is a decent amount of effort that goes into making a non-standard drink or driving a couple of miles to give someone hot food. I also don't get the mindset of tipping. Waiters get paid hourly too and they don't do anything all that much special. I'd rather tip a chef or something.
I tip myself.
tiny chat?? whats the link>
