Sup music subform, I apologize if this isn't the right place to ask but - I want to start playing piano, and I'm not sure where to start. I'm quite clueless, but I learned how to play guitar from google, so I'm hoping the same can be done with pianos. I don't have thousands of dollars for an actual piano, so I'm supposed to pick up a "keyboard" or "digital piano" right? Something like this?
poooooosting to subscribe.

Maybe check Ebay or Kajiji or something to get really cheap pianos. I would also recommend picking up a synthesizer aswell because learning how to use a synth is really useful for making music and if you already know how to play piano it makes synths that much easier.
My price range is $200, max. So I was wondering if the link I posted was good enough for learning some songs on the piano.
My price range is $200, max. So I was wondering if the link I posted was good enough for learning some songs on the piano.
5 Octaves is pretty good for just learning a couple songs. Unless you're learning something like Bohemian Rhapsody. Im pretty sure with a keyboard like that you can adjust the pitch the octaves go to.
will i not be able to play a lot of well-known songs with only 61 keys?
mmm Sky Ferreira [editline]27th December 2013[/editline] anyone seen The Punk Singer, a doc about Kathleen Hanna and Bikini Kill?
ive not heard Sky Ferrieras new album but Gaspar Noe did the album cover which is really cool
anyone seen The Punk Singer, a doc about Kathleen Hanna and Bikini Kill?
I'd really like to
will i not be able to play a lot of well-known songs with only 61 keys?
The keyboard you just linked is fine for a beginner, but it won't last for long - not only does it only have 61 keys with is the least bad thing about it, but it looks like those aren't fullsized keys and no weight. What is your budget? I would suggest this one http://www.long-mcquade.com/products/22751/Keyboards/Digital_Pianos/Yamaha/P35_88_Note_Digital_Piano_-_Black.htm but honestly if you're just starting out, 160 bucks isn't that much so I suggest you buy the one you were looking at and if you don't like playing piano or whatever then you didn't waste any money but if you keep going then after a year or so of playing you may wanna consider getting a better one like the one I linked. tl;dr: Buy the one you you were looking at as a starter keyboard and then get a better one later. [editline]27th December 2013[/editline] If you have issues learning something, want some advice on what to buy or just tips on playing in general just ask me, been playing for about a decade now
will i not be able to play a lot of well-known songs with only 61 keys?
it'll be good enough. and if not, you'll only be an octave or so up, it won't be noticeable. If you really get into playing then you can look into investing more, but its safer to go cheaper to start with, in case you really don't like it [editline]27th December 2013[/editline] listen to jazzy over me he knows way more about this shit
