Masterchef has a pretty sick soundtrack too by the way, it's usually post-rock or some shit.

yeah i know thats why i said "those bands"
also toe are not post-rock at all i dont know why everyone says they are
still a good band though
same with riding the diplodoc, they just sound like math rock and not post-rock at all
catexia sound pretty cool tho
no idea why everyone keeps grouping math rock and post-rock together
isn't post-rock about using rock instruments for non-rock purposes, such as emphasis on atmosphere and texture instead of just riffs and melodies?
i miss the jumping spiders/cockroaches and lizards :(
all there is here are dim londoners and crap weather

I totally misread the "bands that try to sound like" for "bands that sound like". And I agree with that.
To be honest, i've never really gave much thought into it, but post-rock is much broader than that. It comes from a large variety of styles like prog, kraut, shoegaze and other stuff you can merge into one coherent playthrough and all these features, such as mathematic timing, textures and ambientations are automatically drawn into it, imo. So, idk, i guess all these bands might be referred as post-rock bands at some point. Right?
Edit:
I'm still curious on why the uniformity of post-rock bands I know are instrumental and/or noise/texture.

kinda hard to find footage of people employing the gentle art of cooking people.
you can try cannibal holocaust, but that movie ain't known for it's gentleness, is it.

I know there's the whole "Whoever's tired of London" lot and all that but in terms of people I genuinely prefer Manchester. That just don't seem as annoyed all the time.
i used to love post rock, was a mogwai/explosions in the sky obsessive. i can't really listen to either now.
godspeed i still like tho. i went through post rock phase after i was all into dad rock.
all about that pop punk
[editline]awd[/editline]
and music with sad lyrics, gotta have a balance

I'm not pissed off at London TBH I just think that I can get alot of the stuff London has to offer for a fraction of the price.

Edit:
I'm still curious on why the uniformity of post-rock bands I know are instrumental and/or noise/texture.
[/QUOTE]
I'm sure the original definition of post-rock was that it used rock instrumentation to achieve different textures and noise to traditional rock.
Don't quote me on that though.
Post-rock is essentially a large umbrella term which you can class instrumental bands under now.
In the past 9 months I've expanded my music collection by a factor of 1.5.
I'm a bit concerned for when I have 50+ gb of music on my PC, even though I have it backed up. I'd be so supremely upset if I lost it all due to a hard drive malfunction, especially considering the source of most of it.
Back it up 5 times.
So, as it turns out, I'm going to TWO concerts in one weekend
Deafheaven on March 14, St. Vincent the very next day, both on different sides of the state
I may actually buy an 80gb external hard drive to have a redundant backup, since they're only around $20.
The extent of the files on my 500gb external hard drive only takes up around 100gb to begin with, and 80gb would be perfect to store just my music over the next few years.
Is it just me, or does last.fm really not like gifs? I can't get my avatar to look right at all on there.
[editline]8th January 2014[/editline]
Oh, it defaults to 124 pixels wide. No wonder I couldn't just transfer my FP avatar over. Oh well, I like this new one equally. The ABCs of Death is an interesting movie.
man i havent listend to my music on shuffle for ages.
I don't think I ever have using Foobar. I don't know a way to do it where it wouldn't be completely terrible, considering how many concept albums I have. Maybe I ought to give it a go.
i have a balance of both, i always listen to full albums when im home at my computer but when im on the go i have shuffle on on my ipod
I never listen to shuffle, I know exactly what I want to listen to.
I only have maybe 1/5 of my music on my total collection on my iPod at any given time, and it's all stuff I really like, so shuffle is in order there.
On my PC, however, I have somewhere in the ballpark of 60 albums I haven't even listened to before, and I'd like to listen to them on their own before randomly stumbling into a track mid-way through the album.
