If there's a guy who knows how to play the bass it's John Entwistle
Bono is my favourite bassist tbh.
lol the knife is like all the pretension of prog rock without any of the charm why does everyone rate it so highly
Prog rock has no charm at all, it's literally all just needless pretentiousness.
charming music you say? :eng101:
Prog rock has no charm at all, it's literally all just needless pretentiousness.
I do like Rush.
I really like Rush but 2112 is pretty goddamned pretentious. But I don't think it's fair to say that all of prog rock is 100% pretension.
lol the knife is like all the pretension of prog rock without any of the charm why does everyone rate it so highly
Because some people like it.
I don't like prog but I do like prog references
I like it to an extent, and the first track is pretty good, but I don't see why they felt the need to include a 20 minute long track smack dab in the middle that is pretty contentless imo
prog isn't really a full on thing tbh, it's just an umbrella term for how the music is played.
i will always remember that scene in American Beauty when Kevin Spacey goes over to the kid's house and sees Dark Side of the Moon sitting there and gets really excited cos the internet ruined it from being a little bonding thing to "dammit spacey yr such a fucking dad"

I've never really given ambient music much of a listen to be honest. I'm not calling the album crap, it's just nothing special. It's ok, but not really worth all the hype imo. Maybe I need to listen to it a few more times before I "get it". That tends to happen with some stuff, especially when I'm not familiar with it. I used to really dislike Boris, until I actively listened to them a few times. Same with punk music in general honestly.
Maybe when you grow up, you'll see how us adults do and you will then like the knife.
the knife was one of the least pretentious moments of the year. nowhere in the 90 minutes did I think "these guys are fake and untrue". They reinvented themselves and made some of the most rejeuvinating electronic music I'd heard in a while.

If so, I can see why you're not digging it. It's not really the easiest album to get into; especially when the album goes over 90min. For me, I loved it on the first listen and is no doubt my album of the year.

is the Yung Lean circlejerk a real thing :I [editline]10th January 2014[/editline] cos he is ridiculously shit
is the Yung Lean circlejerk a real thing :I [editline]10th January 2014[/editline] cos he is ridiculously shit
Yung Lean is like a bad Lil B with no serious material. That being said I still listen to him sometimes.
yea thats what i think. i can back lil b cos he is pretty legit and at the very least well meaning and super posi but yung lean is just a bad 16yr old rapper he sounds like he's recorded it at home but didn't want his parents to hear. he also wears bucket hats which are almost fedora level awful.
i rly like the beats and the shitty rapping and singing is hilarious but it also fits so well somehow and that makes it cool i think?¿?¿??
Only RiFF is real.
Jody Highroller is love. Jody Highroller is life.

I've never listened to them before, and all I'd heard was "this is the best album of the year" from all over. I have a feeling if I'd have went into it not knowing anything, I'd have liked it a lot more. The hype just killed it. As Will said, it's not the most accessible album. I remember the first time I listened to GY!BE I felt the same way, but now I really like them. Guess I'll report back after I've listened to it more.
Try Silent Shout at some point. It's much more accessible and might completely change your opinion on them.
listening to Sleigh Bells' latest album and its good
listening to Sleigh Bells' latest album and its good
i gotta try that some time, I liked their shoes album

Either way, if you want to try another electronic music record that came out in 2013, check out Haxan Cloak - Excavation.
I'm confused. Is the Knife the band or album name?
