What video is this on? The 79 up votes worry me...
the heck is ghetto music lol
the heck is ghetto music lol
Straight up gangsta rap I assume.
I've noticed there's been a reappearance in music that I've heard being called the "60's revival" or something like that. Maybe I simply never noticed until now, since I just stumbled on it.
I've noticed there's been a reappearance in music that I've heard being called the "60's revival" or something like that. Maybe I simply never noticed until now, since I just stumbled on it.
Can you give an example?
Can you give an example?
Well, theres Allah Las, which emulates surf rock of the early to mid 60's [like The Ventures with vocals], then Wolf People, a band I found through BFBC2: Vietnam's soundtrack. I literally only found about this sub-genre of sorts two days ago when I Googled Wolf People. One that's more modern, but much more reserved than electronic dance music in comparison is Tame Impala. Seems to be targeted more as a "hipster" group in Youtube comments, too.
Oh, dang son. Hella sick. It seems like quite an experience in the youtube vids.
Seen them twice now. Definitely one of the best live bands out there atm, they have so much energy to a point where they start doing 10 minute solos and very powerful and unique fills

I'm just gonna leave this here because it's my jam and I want to get into dream pop
jesus christ how old is toots hibbert now? i reckon he could make any song sound like a toots and the maytals song if he wanted.

[editline]18th January 2014[/editline] Other than Jefferson Airplane I've been listening a lot to Velvet Underground lately
Got anything more like this?
I've been looking for more stuff like this actually [editline]18th January 2014[/editline] The album that's from, gilgamesh is overall pretty good, and Taki 183 by dye is kinda like it as well [editline]18th January 2014[/editline] DYE is probably most well know for this [sp]nsfw[/sp] music video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6QFwo57WKwg

neon indian sounds dope, will probably give their discog a try
neon indian sounds dope, will probably give their discog a try
You defo should, their most famous song is Polish Girl, you have probably heard it.
Are there any bands considered math rock that don't have shitty vocals or all instrumental? (Except Slint). I really like the instrumental parts of most math rock, but in my opinion a lot of bands have annoying vocals like TTNG.
don caballero, hella?? the majority of math rock i've heard is instrumental
Can you give an example?
jangle pop w/ added fuzz
The problem with sub-genres in their infancy is the good groups are hard to find in the sea of mediocre ones, especially since they all have similar view counts on Youtube.
jangle pop bands are just something you stumble upon on a late night bandcamp browse
oh neat, I've been looking for more bands like Real Estate
Is it just me, or could this be a reaction to the recent trend of music? Like Grunge Rock in the 90's was a swing from the Synth Pop of the 80's.
Is it just me, or could this be a reaction to the recent trend of music? Like Grunge Rock in the 90's was a swing from the Synth Pop of the 80's.
I wouldn't call it a reaction because the genres don't really drop off the map (they go under the radar for lack of a better metaphor). If anything I would just call it a resurgence.

Youth Lagoon are great but I always listen to Montana more than I should because it reminds me of a girl and what could have been. Teen Daze are good though. Do the Dum Dum Girls count as dream pop? [editline]19th January 2014[/editline]
Australian shit
Also
you never noticed it til now, it isn't new every band and their mother tries to replicate the 'golden age' without realising that they're just shoehorning themselves
That's why half of them suck and all sound identical, but at least there's some that sound a bit different.
That's why half of them suck and all sound identical, but at least there's some that sound a bit different.
TBH there are loads of bands that crib from certain periods. You'll get like 5 revolutionary bands a generation.

It's weird how 2013 already feels like last year. Like I'll listen to a song from 2013 and think "Hey that was last year!"
