[QUOTE=erfinjerfin;43720302]I've heard just the opposite from everyone I've talked with about it. They've said that the book is pretty well-written and the weird formatting just adds to it[/QUOTE]
Hadn't made much progress in Catch-22, so I just let my friend read it.
I can confirm the above quote - House of Leaves is pretty damn good
Hey guys, do you know about any songs that are like this?

I first heard this several months back and I just fell in love with it, it's lovely and creepy. I really love the sawing bass of it. Thanks!
Edit: thanks guys for doing fuck-all you've really helped a brother out good job
Anyone know some nice relaxing songs? I've been thinking all day long and I gotta stop it before it gets out of hand. I need to relax.
Any genre is fine, as long as it's mellow, relaxing and calming. Something to stop me from going insane.

film is fantastic... such an underrated one it's ridiculous
Its also so spooky because its so believable. "It's not the end of the world, but you can see it from here."
Gattaca is one of those films that's just near flawless. It absolutely does everything it's trying to do so perfectly. There's pretty much nothing wrong with that movie imo. Like it's not even one of my favourite films really (although I'd say it's one of my favourite sci-fi's) but it's just so well crafted in every aspect. One of the most solid films I've ever seen.
It made such a horrible loss, I'd have loved to see more movies made like that. Would have been a pioneering neo-noir era in sci fi tbh

I love this stuff, just a drummer and a guitarist wrecking havoc

Totally. Sci-fi doesn't go that way enough. Crazy that it was his debut as well. The director has still done some really good stuff though, he did The Truman Show and Lord of War, and The Terminal which I've not seen but quite fancy. He also did The Host last year though which I didn't see but I certainly have no interest.
In Time as well, I think, shows that he's still thinking along the same lines as he did back in Gattaca- obviously two very different movies, but their concepts are similar. He clearly loves the concept of technology's effects on our society etc. Sadly In Time didn't explore it very well and devolved into the very kind of movie I feel Gattaca tried to avoid... However I like to imagine that due to a bigger budget and it starring Justin Timberlake, that heavy studio meddling was involved. I have no evidence for that though.
In Time was a decent film for me until the middle and then it began to fall apart, the ending was terrible IMO. Similar to Hancock in that respect.
Hancock made me so sad because the first act is amazing then it holds on pretty ok I guess but then it turns out hes an alien angel or some shit and it becomes 0/10
I honestly thought it would be a real gem... but the second half was just such an incredible flop.
Yeah it was a shame. It also means that to this day Will Smith only has two halves of two good movies over his career (I enjoyed I Am Legend until it starts coming to the end)

Seven Pounds is one of the most offensively off point films I have ever seen tbh. It is shocking. Its morals are so horribly messed up that it's disgusting. One of the worst films ive seen.
[editline]1st February 2014[/editline]
wtf its sitting at 7.6/10 on imdb :I
a friend I knew really loved Seven Pounds, might check that out
Men in Black 3 was ok.. Josh Brolin was cool
[editline]1st February 2014[/editline]
will smith is probably the most overblown hollywood actor tbh, his acting capabilities could have been stretched with good roles. He did shoot hard in Pursuit for Happyness but the rest of his catalogue of films were very safe and sound (as in middle of the road)... Enemy of the State was ok..

Man I did not like Seven Pounds... It's about a man who wants to commit suicide cos he killed a bunch of people in a car accident, and he decides to donate his organs to help people when he decides to off himself. But the film is about him testing people to make them prove their worth. Making them prove that they deserve to continue to live, basically. Like he lies to people and makes up excuses to talk to them/get to know them/observe them so he can see if they're good people.
Aside being generic and shlocky, the worst thing about it is how messed up its morals are. It glorifies suicide, making it look like the heroic way out, and gives the idea that people don't actually have the right to live; they have to earn it, by proving to someone else that they're a "good person", whatever that means. It's so horribly naive and honestly potentially dangerous. Very misguided...
What right do other people have to live if they aren't me tbh
you guys have any good resources for learning how to sing? I've always really liked singing but I've never done it in front of anyone and I dunno how I sound or how to improve it.

I had a few choir lessons but idk, bro. Record yourself and check how it sounds? Discover what you can improve and work on that. Google some breathing exercises because breathing is key. Google is your best friend or if you have musician friends irl ask them.
P.S. I can't sing for shit but it is still one of my favourite activities.
