Polish posters are weird as fuck
but super duper cool
Polish posters are the way they are because often the artist didn't get a press kit and had to complete the poster a week or less before release.
That and what do you do when you're administrating a socialist country and your artists have fuck all to do? There's literally a whole school of art devoted to Polish film posters.
fusion or bop?
But bop was never Miles Davis' forte. It would make more sense to say: modal or fusion?
*nerd discussion commencing
But bop was never Miles Davis' forte. It would make more sense to say: modal or fusion?
that's arguable tbh, even though his more cool/modal years were celebrated most in jazz, I find his hard bop styles his most refined and brilliant.
milestones and cookin' are just superb. Hard Bop was where Miles strived, then he was finding himself, things like Kind of Blue came about and his music composition gradually changed until the good ol' cocaine helped to see him through the funk years :)
I suppose it's a matter of taste. Thing is Miles Davis never really was about himself, the guy wasn't known for his technical skills. it was about him bringing musicians together to compose solid jazz music. He may not be the best trumpeter that ever was (and far from it), but he certainly was the best band leader there was in jazz music.
so true, that's possibly why coltrane was given more respect within elitist jazz circles; in terms of playing. Shame he wasn't around for the 70s :-(

Kind of Blue got me into jazz.
In A Silent Way got me into Bitches Brew.
Bitches Brew got me into free jazz, which got me into noise.
Noise is in a lot of my favorite music nowadays because of it.
Miles Davis is a powerful drug.

I got into drone before jazz so Fire! With Oren Ambarchi got me into jazz :v:
Drone's OK. I can't do drone by itself, though, it's gotta be drone metal or something.
