I didn't even know Nardwuar did reviews.
ive watched a couple nardwuar reviews but he weirds me out too much and his knowledge of people's pasts/the gifts come off as really creepy to me like its strange. he seems to know his shit but he irritates the hell out of me and totally rubs me wrong [editline]26th June 2014[/editline] ive only watched his interviews does he do actual reviews? have a written column somewhere?
Fantano is ok but he's too bland a reviewer to follow. After watching him a lot in the past, you can easily predict what he'll say.. He does pick and choose some cool stuff once in a while.
thats the thing i dont care about music reviews much to begin with id rather just listen to it myself than have someone tell me whether they think its good or not and i just dont get the hype about fantano at all because he doesn't seem particularly standout or like he has anything notable going for him and his reviews so its just nothing but another uninteresting music critic to me just through video instead of writing
It turns out that Eyehategod's van actually broke down in Georgia. Just like me. I knew they were my idols. The show's gonna get rescheduled yeeeee. On the Fantano note. I think he's badass because I stumbled across him ages ago, and he picks great stuff to review. I miss back when he would do more Powerviolence and Hardcore stuff, but ah well.
iirc it was actually that someone broke into their van and stole a bunch of their shit so that may... cause problems with the next few dates edit: yo what he used to do PV? was it like ACxDC and ceremony and stuff like that or... actually going balls deep into that shit? (i dont even hate those bands i just assume that whenever anyone big mentions PV/HC its gonna be stuff like that)

I seem to remember an actual ACxDC review, but I can't find it now. He didn't go too deep. Stuff like Trash Talk, Xibalba, Nails. Y'know.
he reviewed the latest Dead In The Dirt and i remember he reviewed Wormrot yea hes done some actually not internet-fad hardcore stuff which is pretty cool and every now and then he reviews a random black metal/death metal album that no one really cares about and i kinda like that
Wormrot too. [editline]26th June 2014[/editline] FAK MIKEY MY AUTOMERGE
just listen to it myself than have someone tell me whether they think its good or not
I don't read reviews for someone to lecture me about what's good, I just want to know what people get out of music.
man wormrot is the shit best current grind band i can think of imo now that in disgust broke up AGAIN

I didn't even know they were a thing outside of Alabama/Georgia. Then again I haven't been with it for the past year or two. They've always been da big dawg in Atlanta. Definitely the biggest show I've ever played. I guess I shouldn't be surprised they went big.
iirc theyve been on the lineup for A389 fest more than once so thats something

Their fanbase actually extends (extended..) beyond humans.RIP Grindcore Goat :( Weekend Nachos is my favourite current grind/pv band tho they are so so sick [editline]26th June 2014[/editline] damn just noticed the Wormrot vocalist is wearing a Spazz cap in that pic raw as hell
sex prisoner is my without-a-doubt definite vote for unrivaled #1 current PV band. ignorant powerviolence is the most important development of the last 10 years (also i once spent all night hanging out with those guys at ben's chili bowl) but weekend nachos is very close behind (lol im wearing my WN shirt right now) god those guys fucking rule. their riffs are so ace and their vocalist is one of the nicest guys ever, great dude to hang with. also i once got the mic during the breakdown in jock powerviolence ok thats all done boasting but yeah i like weekend nachos a lot rip grindgoat :( you will never be forgotten
I haven't seen actual music discussion here in ages. Good work
thank god for r/listentothis
about ignorant hardcore no less let's keep it up here are more riffs
ive barely listened to Sex Prisoner but will look into them more. Ignorant powerviolence sounds insanely advanced. Wish WN would come to the UK tho, I just know they'd go so hard
check out sex prisoner's s/t 7" it's just an incredible nonstop barrage of mosh riffs punctuated by feedback so insanely distorted it sounds like a dial-up modem
This is some good shit. What genre would it be exactly? Just EDM?
also this morning on my fuckin 90 minute commute (only this week) I listened to Xibalba and Entombed back to back cos I was thinking "damn xibalba are so fucking sick im gonna go back and listen to the accidental originator of what is one of the best hardcore trends of all time" and they are literally the same fucking band except where Entombed has solos Xibalba has breakdowns I just love it so much. I knew Xibalba and other California hardcore bands just ripped off Entombed and Bolt Thrower but never noticed how fucking similar they really are til I put them on back to back. It is ridiculous. 10/10 best bands
What genre would it be exactly? Just EDM?
EDM is like a huuuuuuuuuuge umbrella term, not a genre.
Weekend Nachos will always be my favorite. I saw them when they came out with Unforgivable and was floored by how badass. The next time I saw them the curly mustachio'd hipster that runs the venue they were playing at got beatdown for kicking people and run out of his own venue while they were playing Pain Over Acceptance. Best show of my life. I also made the mistake of offering to smoke with them. The dude that does guest vocals was all about it, but the rest of the guys in the band laughed at me. Apparently a lot of people assume they smoke because of their music. I did.
how can anyone be sour about current hardcore just being 90s death metal but with perfectly orchestrated mosh breakdowns instead of boring wank solos its the best trend possible
EDM is like a huuuuuuuuuuge umbrella term, not a genre.
Which genre would he be then?
No idea but it sounds horrible.
That's just...like...your opinion man. [editline]26th June 2014[/editline] I kind of have trouble listening to albums unless they are REALLY good. I don't like listening to the same artist for a full 20-45 minutes
Riffs http://leery.bandcamp.com/album/angels-dont-play-this Heaven isn't real, so I just sreep
Apparently a lot of people assume they smoke because of their music. I did.
Teh joke is that the two that write the majority of their music are/were sxe.
i like fantano because even though his opinions are pretty much always the same as everyone else's, he's pretty good with words which makes it easier for me to really understand why i like the things i do it feels like he reads my mind and makes my thoughts into something solid, i guess (idk im terrible at explaing)
