It's a really short game but its got tons of replayability and its a ton of fun.
I'd rather have a really fun, short game than a long borefest (lookin @ u, mass effect)

I didn't really have spare cash to get a PS3 ever.
Now I finally get some money out of work so I can invest in one.

Not really, it's your run of the mill adventure game. it's just that nintendo puts a lot of polish in them.
I didn't enjoy a link to the past and minish cap, tried to play zelda 2 but it was painful so eh.
those ones on the gameboy when I was a wee child were good
the oracle ones
playing a link to the past as a boy was life-changing

I cannot recall a game that uses the exact formula that zelda uses but also its kind of a no brainer formula so eh i guess it goes both ways
nintendo games are for kids
zelda is a rare adventure game in that it hid its "gamey-ness." In most adventure games you collect completely arbitrary items that are fucking retarded while in zelda you unlocked new items, abilities, etc. It had much more plot to it, blah blah blah. only recently have games been able to properly emulate that (assassin's creed 2, darksiders)
[editline]24th May 2013[/editline]
not including sidescrollers
I like that in zelda a lot of the items you got consistently had a use, like you'd collect the hookshot and use it for the rest of the game, or the lantern in link to the past always had a use. As soon as you got the item you had to keep using it until the end of the game in various situations
a lot of RPGs i've played over the years often do that thing where you get some cool item but the mechanics of the game don't change and you use it like a couple of times to solve some puzzles then never use it again
@vedi; morrowind was a great world b/c there was more social conflict and 'culture'
i never found the effort to do anything more serious in skyrim beyond killing people w/ pickaxes
@joe; zelda games are good, but oot is sooo far elevated beyond itself it's ridiculous; nostalgia + bandwagoning
Zelda games are unbelievably hyped.
