I've only listened to a few songs from them and have also been meaning to give their discography a listen and will probably do so chronologically and months from now because I don't have the time to now.
Extremely excited about this set, first ever time Wonderwall and Electronic Sound have been released since being pressed on Vinyl
Where to start on Sonic Youth I have decided to get into them cos I've never listened to anything by them but they seem right up my alley
[editline]2nd September 2014[/editline]
I know they started off as no-wave and noise rock but changed a fair bit. Is a chronological big listen worthwhile? I did that with Swans and it was a rewarding experience.
Going through their discography (which I haven't listened to the entirety of) in chronological order is probably a good idea. That said, Daydream Nation is a good place to start if you're not into such a commitment.

none of those are rare, it's just a cash grab.
why would you listen to music via a media that degrades every time you use it? records do look nice though

itunes doesn't degrade, it's already a pile of crap waste of money.
I need a bit help finding a song.
Intro is by a female singer
Before chorus the female singer sings "Our love love love love" and then a male singer goes " a big kiss for ya" and breaks into chrous
Chorus starts at 1:21
Chorus contains whistling and a upbeat sound with bass and instruments ( string possibly )

I hate how there's great bands playing at venues, but I can't go cause I'm still underage.

bandcamp is probably the most ideal for both consumer and artist
it's nice to have a giant physical copy of an album

are you allowed to just shoehorn your own riff into another song???
I would argue that there was so much competition back then in music that as soon as you heard that on the radio/in da club you would instantly know it's Darude. Kind of like how you can tell a Darwin Deez song pretty quickly due to his guitar.

Today I dedicated my time to listening through their stuff, got through their first 5 albums and just finished Daydream Nation. The first 3 were ok, some good stuff but it's really just decent no wave/noise rock. Daydream Nation didn't blow me away entirely but it kept me held really well for its 70 minute run time and there were some GREAT tracks on it and there's a lot going on so I know that listening to it a second time I'll probably really love it.

I guess it helps to consider that really sonic youth made no wave/noise rock what it is today, I mean nosie rock wasn't really around til they came along
Daydream Nation is a fucking blast though. It grows on you heaps. My only complaint is that teenage riot overstays its welcome lol
All of my favorite bands are either underground or they broke up so sadly I can't see any of them:(
You guys know any japanese hip hop or trap?
I know i'm a day late but Nujabes is pretty much the best Japanese hip hop producer. Also in that same vein of chill japanese beats is Ray Baboon, who i posted earlier. Someone else in that same area is Gongoozler, who makes chill vaporwave-ish kind of stuff. As far as i know most music coming out of japan are chill producers like this, J-Pop, or generic rock bands and shit. I don't think Japan has a trap scene at all really.
[editline]4th September 2014[/editline]
Otherwise just go here and look for some popular albums.
If trap does make it to Japan, holy shit that will be some crazy weird stuff.

I feel like teenage riot would be better without the spoken word intro

mine are very popular or canadian (so only touring canada and the US, rarely the UK), either way very expensive to see

I think the intro is awesome
