green day is better tbh
TBH though I think that a band/acts influence should also be considered and arguably Kraftwerk were by far the most influential on that list since they spawned an entire movement. The Smiths pretty much invented modern British indie pop and Marr is responsible for some of the best riffs of all time.
I can definitely see Green Day getting in but for me they were more part of a general movement while Kraftwerk and The Smiths stood alone.
Green Day are beating The Smiths and Kraftwerk in nominations for The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I'm absolutely livid.
Most people who voted in that poll have probably never heard the name Kraftwerk before
Not to mention Morrissey is one of the most insufferable people EVER
He's hilarious. I've got his book I need to read it soon. This is fucking spot on
Yea it doesn't even have a fucking pause button iirc, just a stop button. and no track list or anything. And idk what the bitrate is but it's not very high. Terrible, terrible player.
You can download it from certain places instead of using the Pitchfork.
Not to mention Morrissey is one of the most insufferable people EVER
Morissey's a cunt but that fact doesn't invalidate his music.
Did u guys take the rock and roll hall of fame seriously for a second
Poor form
maybe I would if the rock 'n roll hall of fame was for a genre that's actually fun
man, bull of heaven are an infuriating band
mostly because they have some super good atmospheric music and then they have a single sample being stretched out for 24 hours because ~arte~
the worst part is those would be really good as well if they were just like 10 or even 20 minutes long
i'm not going to browse through 435 albums of mostly just one sound in order to find the really good stuff, i wish someone had just made a list of their albums that are worth checking out
[editline]10th October 2014[/editline]
like there's an album that's 87,708,958,333,333 hours and 20 minutes of one repeating bass hit, just fuck off
[editline]10th October 2014[/editline]
Oh thank fucking god someone on RYM was nice enough to make a list of the albums that are worth listening to
I want more 1980's sounding electronic music but I can't find any artists that have that, Todd Terje's Delorean Dynamite has sparked a massive interest in this kind of music :v:

The movie Manhunter seemed to have some really nice 80's synth electronic soundtrack, check it out.
That's not exactly what I'm looking for but thanks. I loved Hotline Miami's soundtrack, I'm looking for artists with that vibe, apart from Kavinsky because I already know that one :v:

La Roux's 2 albums are very 80's inspired, Grum is also v good. There was a thread exactly for this called "retro wave" so search for that one or two pages back and you should see it. There are some v good recommendations there.
[editline]10th October 2014[/editline]
Oh and maybe Serkin.
Michael, please take it easy :(

every single modern synth pop record is 80s inspired m*8
We're still a few months away, but what is everyone's favorite album of the year (or the album they anticipate it being)?
Mine is probably Thou - Heathen
swans - to be kind, probably
To Be Kind was boring on the first listen but it grew on me with time. I'll still never like it as much as I do The Seer, in comparison TBK feels as though it drags a little too long
However, Bring The Sun/Toussaint L'Overture is one of the best things Michael Gira has ever done. I'm still amazed they managed to make a sound so giant and organic and heavy on that song in particular.

just saying "indie scene" is pretty broad, there's independent music in all genres
