keith jarrett bill evans thelonious monk
Cheers babe.
Does anyone else think that half of the time Lou Reed is an awful lyricist? Half of the lyrics on Transformer are seriously retarded.
i dont like his music generally to begin with [editline]29th May 2013[/editline] i'd like to see someone that doesn't think venus in furs is one of the most annoying songs of all time [editline]29th May 2013[/editline] they're just a glorified rolling stones excluding white light (which has fucking awful production). Loaded has some good songwriting at least.
I think Venus in Furs is successful at creating a pretty unnerving atmosphere. I think TVU was good at pairing sounds with lyrical themes like in Heroin and Sister Ray.
lou reed is a fishily mysterious guy, even though his lyrics haven't kicked in yet I'm intrigued to dig through his career. plus he's married to Laurie Anderson, who's amazing.
AK'z please defend this
But the funny thing is what happened to her nose It grew until it reached all of her toes Now when people say her feet they mean her nose
if i marry thom yorke would that make me a good musician too?
I think Venus in Furs is successful at creating a pretty unnerving atmosphere. I think TVU was good at pairing sounds with lyrical themes like in Heroin and Sister Ray.
its just irritating to me. if it is trying to be "unnerving" it is not very subtle about it
I think that was the point of it, same with Heroin. Lou Reed was writing about taboo things for the time in a very blunt way.
lyrically that's arguable but the music blows ass [editline]29th May 2013[/editline] last i checked heroin doesn't make you bored
venus in furs has got some cool sounds. but yeah, it's not really fun.
penis in furs
AK'z please defend this
that's good, glam conjures crazy imagery and he does it. Bowie did it, why not Lou Reed? I hate reading lyrics out of the context of music anyway. Lyrics that don't read well can sound good musically.
penis in furs
what a twist

Transformer just sounds like a Bowie album anyway, so its not shocking. But it's still a kind of dumb lyric.
Lou Reed has always been an oddball.. and being odd without acting like a bod works for me :-)
Recommendations for jazz piano??
Dave Brubeck or Fats Waller.
