Just got Yo La Tengo's Extra Painful re-release on the mail, the cover is much stranger in person
Yo La Tengo are SO fantastic I'm glad I got to see them live

I'd really like to see them someday, even if Ira Kaplan is nearly 60

speaking of old people, I just found out that there are a couple of Keiji Haino / Peter Brötzmann / Jim O'Rourke collaboration albums coming out next month, and I'm very excited
btw why is it xmas and not †mas
Because Ecksmas is an inoffensive holiday, and Crossmas could trigger people with religious-induced PTSD?
(I seriously have no idea here. I've never understood the "xmas" thing myself.)
cliffnotes version:
the gospels were originally written in Greek, and in Greek Christ is spelled Χριστος. the anglo saxons turned that into Xp̄es mæsse, which the early English turned into X'temmas. 'tem was dropped sometime around the 1700s. It's been a secondary spelling ever since, and only in the past 40 years or so has it become something controversial.

Oh. Well, cool. Now I have something to throw at the people that think it's part of the war on Christmas.
My new headphones are really working out great. Probably the first pair I've ever had worth over $20.
I got some Polk TSi100s, and they blow every integrated speaker I've ever heard out of the water tenfold. They're an awesome little unit, maybe not audiophile-grade, but they really do fill a house. Bass is good, the mids and highs are fantastic, and they get loud. Really, really loud. I'm loving them so far.
um what, Dark Souls 1 is waaay better
[editline]24th December 2014[/editline]
Dark souls 1 has better combat and way better hitboxes, you can't pull off half the cool shit in DS2, which has more options but feels less tight to me, feels floaty in a way I guess.
everyone says that but i like dark souls 2's gameplay way more, it's much smoother and nicer, DkS1 is mad janky
dark souls is nerd garbage

I never enjoyed it, if I'm honest. Seemed like it focused too much on being punishing to build a compelling experience, unless you were really going for a hardcore arcadey fighter.

It's not even hard if you put your mind into it.
you just gotta learn the attack patterns and how your gear interacts with that, it's a lot of trial and error but that's pretty much it

aka nerd shit

i dont get why so many people seem to think this, it has a very steep learning curve but once you get into the correct mindset it's really not that hard
you just have to learn to pay attention and be aware of what's happening around you
tbh I only played it the first time just to finish and the second time with godmode so I could take a look at everything without having to worry about ending up soulless

dark souls is easy after the first playthrough you just gotta get a hang of the mechanics and you're sorted
hard af to play drunk tho I remember doing a DS drinking game with a bunch of friends once, we all had played at least a fair bit of the game, some of us including me had put in a lot of time, but honestly after the end of the night we opened it up and I think all we had done was beat the Bell Gargoyles. And our guy was purple/blue with a realy fucked up face (im talking Oblivion character creator stuff) and he was called like "greg" or something. also i vomited because i ended up drinking so much lmao (one thing i remember-- starting way too fuckin strong on the drink)

I only ever play driving games while drunk. I don't have the eyesight for shooters and nerd games are nerd games
