http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1275083 thread about 4'33", get in before it gets locked~!!
depressing [editline]2nd June 2013[/editline]
i like pink floyds first record a lot
the frontman for a local punk runs a blog where he documents how whenever/wherever he goes on tour he finds those digital jukeboxes and just puts on "echoes" over and over (which is 22 minutes long 4 u dummies)
srsly ppl need to read the write up that lester bangs did about ELP in 1972(?) few people remember they were literally the biggest live band in the world other than led zep at the time [editline]2nd June 2013[/editline] i rly like high range vox so w/e
they got crucified man I watched a documentary on them though and some of the money they invested was just fucking ridiculous like they had 3 huge trucks each with a members name emblazoned on the top and carl palmer had a drum set that cost like a ridiculous amount of money I don't think brain salad is very good prog but its a good album
red was king crimsons best record imo because they got rid of all that orchestral nonsense and bill bruford was at the top of his drumming game try not to airdrum badly to one red nightmare i cant do it
Rush are good always, but I'm still iffy on the vocals, that sort of falsetto rock voice has never done it for me Hawkwind are gr8 up to a point, they do decline in quality. Journey in search of space though is a god tier space rock album King Crimson are patchy early on (Lizard and Crimson King are gr8 the other 2, Islands is Shit, Poseidon is okay but unoriginal), get better from Lark's Tongue and decline after their first new wave album never to recover That's kind of why I'm not a big fan of brain salad, but I gotta admit its a pretty great album. I'm pretty partial to their self titled as well but tarkus is shit Moody blues has knights in white satin
nights in white satin is seriously a good song that album as a whole is alright i like brain salad because they just stop giving a fuck and decide to ride out their egos and its mildly interesting in that respect
echoes is better than shine on by far imo Red is a fantastic album but I really like lark's tongue anyway also Lizard was ridiculously good after it got remastered for its anniversary but it was shit before that
they got crucified man I watched a documentary on them though and some of the money they invested was just fucking ridiculous like they had 3 huge trucks each with a members name emblazoned on the top and carl palmer had a drum set that cost like a ridiculous amount of money I don't think brain salad is very good prog but its a good album
he literally had the first electronic drumkit ever [editline]2nd June 2013[/editline]
somehow this was the perfect response echoes would be a great song if can played it instead of pink floyd
i like it myself
he literally had the first electronic drumkit ever [editline]2nd June 2013[/editline] i like it myself
nah its a good song, you have to give pink floyd credit for never going over the top by over-arranging their records supposedly its because they were more "bluesy" than say yes, but i think they came from a way different lens than most of those prog bands
except it played some weird synth sequence that was only useful for like, one song still kinda good also David Gilmour's recent live version of Echoes at Gdansk is pretty booming and good, better than the recording imo plus it has Phil Manzanera on it. Legit love echoes though [editline]2nd June 2013[/editline] Also yeah pink floyd don't identify as prog at all Like they all used to get pissed when people called them space rock or prog rock When they got it right they really got it right because they knew when not to play
i still think there are loads of pink floyd records that no one should give a shit about yet ppl will buy reissues of that trash for $40 for no reason
i still think there are loads of pink floyd records that no one should give a shit about yet ppl will buy reissues of that trash for $40 for no reason
id pay at most a dollar for a pink floyd record maybe a bit more for a good copy of pied piper at the gates of dawn
They had big concepts but they were never backed well Don't know why anyone really gives a shit about the Wall anymore tbh, I can't stand it now Wish you were here and animals are still pretty good but I can't do the DSOTM or the wall at all anymore Piper at the gates is good though and meddle is gr8
i still think there are loads of pink floyd records that no one should give a shit about yet ppl will buy reissues of that trash for $40 for no reason
because hype and misguided stoners
Meddle and Animals are my favorite Pink Floyd albums
Also pseudo-intellectuals who like to think they've found the most intellectual piece of music ever
I think DSOTM is incredibly overrated but I liked Wish You Were Here. [editline]2nd June 2013[/editline]
because hype and misguided stoners
I never got the correlation between Pink Floyd and getting high when I'm high I listen to real G shit
There's some great italian prog bands actually like a fucktonne of really good ones also Halloween by Pulsar is one of the best symphonic prog albums
DSOTM has a few tracks that I really like but overall its a bit weak IMO. Way overrated
I never got the correlation between Pink Floyd and getting high when I'm high I listen to real G shit
stoners think it's good to zone out to or something idk go ask DD why
The kind of lofi space prog feel was way better than the most well engineered floyd album imo
when i was like 7 i was like "omg" when i first played dsotm on our record player i like breathe's chords tho
stoners think it's good to zone out to or something idk go ask DD why
imo if I'm 'zoning out' to something when I'm high it's probably because it's really boring
oh breathe has great chords yeah great gig has them too, rick wrights soundtrack demo of it is really beautiful but overall like money is bad, brain damage is AWFUL, eclipse is generic, any colour you like is kinda cool and Time is just your average rock song with weird sounds at the beginning Rick Wright wrote the best floyd songs on that album and on most of the stuff he worked on
I never got the correlation between Pink Floyd and getting high when I'm high I listen to real G shit
because its easy on the senses tho i wouldnt want to hear welcome to the machine if i was on something: all those wooshes would probably hurt my head
I like Brain Damage and Time They're nothing special or revolutionary, but they're really enjoyable poprock songs
brain damage is boring as shit I never understood the appeal of that song
i just rly like listening to dsotm and wywh.....
when i was like 7 i was like "omg" when i first played dsotm on our record player i like breathe's chords tho
great gig in the sky 4 lyfe B) i really like "recent" 35th anniversary remaster which may be some sort of taboo or whatever but i think it sounds incredible. i've always been a fan of the whole album excluding on the run which is just filler as far as im concerned (tho if you asked me how "us and them" or "any colour you like" sound there's no way i could tell you w/o relistening). hard for me to even break the record down. its pretty dope front to back imo.
brain damage is boring as shit I never understood the appeal of that song
I never found it boring myself. It's just a 4-minute long, basic but calming and catchy pop rock song.
