If you used something like that for "self defense" or "home defense" in the UK you'd be straight in prison. (reasonable force is acceptable, but battering someone with a pre meditated, prebuilt weapon is not considered ok and rightly so in my opinion)

So my uncle's a pro welder and gave me a bunch of metal and a welding tool to make shit - note that I'm a complete noob and only just started. As thus I've made a bridge. [IMG]http://puu.sh/1cNjg[/IMG]

I would have made a go-kart chassis personally I might pick up welding, seems like a great way to build some seriously cool things

For my Physics class, we had to create some kind of mechanical projectile launcher to launch a tennis ball 10 meters and land on a target. It could be anything. A Catapult, a Trebuchet, a slingshot... I went for something like a mounted Crossbow/guided slingshot. It couldn't be any bigger than 2ft x 2ft x 2ft. It had to have a way to lock, so that you could set it, walk away, and come back later and fire it right away. 30 kids in the class, split up into groups of 4-6. I ended up making it all on my own. Still had fun, first time I've ever made anything like this. Total cost... maybe $20?
