I'm gonna need some help here.
I have posted here about my stupid ceiling fan and on a other forum,
they eventually said it's just a crappy fan so I threw it in the back yard
and let it sit in the rain and looked for a new fan. I found this nice looking
Westinghouse: http://www.conrad.com/ce/en/product/560197/Westinghouse-Cyclone-Chrome-Ceiling-Fan
Issue is it doesn't have a light kit on it's own, could this fan accept this
universal light kit?

I greatly appreciate help as I'm doubtful.
I don't have a before-picture but I made my gear knob look "older".

It was painted in some metallic dark grey paint but the paint was falling off it so it just looked like shit. I sanded it down with extremely rough sandpaper to make deep grooves in it, then fine sanded it to make it comfortable to hold and painted it, but sanded it down so just the deep grooves would be filled with paint.
A weird job, but I think it looks better than it did.
I recently bought a Dell UltraSharp 2407WFP monitor for $75 the other day and the only issue with it is that the power button is stuck on.
After trying to remove the front panel I've run into a little snag:
[t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/34886768/Pictures/Random/20130729_165418.jpg[/t]
As shown above, the front controls are attached to the panel and there are wires leading from it into the rest of the monitor. There isn't any other way into the monitor as I can tell so I don't know how I can get around this so I can fix the controls.
Any one have a solution or an idea how to remove the panel completely?

Think you could undo those screws and flip the PCB up to face you?

I can't pull it forward enough to get at the screws and if I tried it would be even harder to put them back in

Sounds like you need an offset screwdriver!

I did a 45 minute quickie today. I built some shelves out of 3/4" MDF and mounted them to my wall, to house blurays and PS3 games. I rather like it, and the unfinished MDF goes well with the wall, as long as it never gets wet, it can stay that way.

They grew on me. Thinking about cutting them up and making a singular long strip of them...dunno.
I just made myself an eyepatch so I can see better in the dark.
I made it out of some black cloth, thread, stretchy string and cardboard using a needle and some scissors.
If I wear it before going into the dark, it gives my covered up eye time to adjust so I have good night vision with it.
I was tired of just closing one eye and I had a few minutes to kill so I made it. Plus it blocks light better than my eyelid.

A big part of me wants to know why you would find yourself needing to have instant night vision on a reliable enough basis to warrant wearing an eyepatch. What have you been up?
I've gotten into road cycling recently, and wanted a phone holder for my bike so I could use Strava and GPS on the go... Took a look on Amazon and decided I didn't want to spend $50 on a lump of plastic for a commercial holder... so I made my own. I took some thin steel rod, bent it to shape, and then tack welded it up. Made sure to build it so that I could still hit all the buttons and plug in headphones while it was in the holder. Then I knocked off the burs with a grinder and wrapped everything up with rubber and electrical tape so it would grip the phone without scratching the case. Looks decent and works great. I'll attach it to the bike either with Velcro or zip ties.

What'cha think?
I think that thing is going to fly off that stand and onto the street if you hit a bump.
Get some clips. Clips are great.

I put the phone in it and shook it around hard. Doesn't budge. Takes quite a bit of force to seat it in the holder.
Yeah, I'm going to try doing a plush doll next, and I've already cut all the shapes and have the fabric ready to sew. Next I'll get the stuffing and learn how to use the sewing machine, because I really need to use it for all this. I'll post the final result when it's done.
Also, look at all the leftover fabric I have now after all that!

Now that my friend got her birthday present I can post this, so:

Tada~!
It's simultaneous cute and horrifying.
I got a new toolbox and since it was just boring blue, figured I'll decorate it with some spray paints I had left over.

Now that's what I call trying to force a square peg into a round hole! Hiyo!
A friend of my mum's passed me down a 20l fishtank, I took it upon myself to clean it out well, everything worked out fine. Until someone thought it was a good idea to leave it full of water inside a very uneven bath. Craaack, a long glass pane had cracked and I really didn't feel like buying a new tank...so I just resealed it with silicone, seems to be holding now. Since the crack went straight down the middle, I'm just going to put a backdrop over that side and put it against the wall so you can't see the big streak of black gunk. Going to be leaving it running without any kind of fish in it with the filter and heater running for a week or two just to make sure the crack didn't spread to the original sealant or any other panels.
I dunno what I'm going to do with it, I don't even want to look at a fish again after helping out with our koi pond.

Try a turtle, or a hermit crab... Alternately, build a terrarium.
I would maybe go with a terrarium if I didn't already have the garden on my hands, I'm thinking of some shrimp and a flock of neon tetras.
Well, it's that or I drop the shrimp and go with sharks, but the sharks would at the same time eat the tetras :v:
Make a nice planted aquarium with some small fish. Seems like to could make a nice little tank.
Anyone got any ideas what could I do with 17 soda cans?
Recycle them

Make an awesome exhaust system for your car

I'm gonna try to make a nice-lookin' coffee table out of recycled shipping pallets. I found one that is quite nice. The top is flat, the boards are solid, and it's already sanded on its surface. Plus, it was wrapped in plastic for some reason, so there's no warping or water damage. I'll just have to sand down the sides, possibly add a second pallet underneath to make it the appropriate height, add some wheels to the base, and stain it. Should hopefully look pretty nice. Going for this sort of look:

Smelt them down and form them into some useful mechanical part, or a DIY replacement aluminum part.

Anybody think of any cool projects to do with a whole shitload of wicker baskets? The antique furniture place downstairs has a massive bin of old wicker baskeys for a dollar apiece. It's a really swell deal, but I can't think of anything I could actually use them for!
