Wow. Two days since last post. So I can definitely expect a speedy response.
So last year I got a resin cast of the pipboy clock so I could use it for a cosplay but I ended up getting the cast done a week before the con and since I've had no experience with the stuff I didn't want to rush it. The cast is cut in 2 and all I need to do is clean up the edges and make a hole where my Ipod will go.
All I need to know is what tools are best for cleaning up the edges and cutting a hole into the cast?

I finished my 29 gallon freshwater aquarium for right now.
Watch the video to see this little guy and a bunch of others.

I'm going to go with scissors and a dremel.
Scissors to cut off most of the excess, dremel to sand it down.

The thing is this stuff is kinda thick. Its like a hard plastic almost. I don't think scissors could cut through it.

Why did you hang what looks to be guts from a video game controller from your fan?

Good Lord, that's beautiful.
Like, that's seriously really swish. It'd ridiculously modern, and I love the Lack standing desk.
Also, let's be honest, the lime green was a great choice, wasn't it?

Yep, very good. The only problem right now is the shelf I used for the standing desk is too short so I can't rest my wrist on it. I'll probably have to change it.
[editline]17th October 2013[/editline]
Although I made a slight miscalculation when doing the project for the room, as the wardrobe turned out to be much bigger than expected (actually like 10cm more but that was enough to ruin everything):

You have to walk sideways to get through there, unless you slide open the wardrobe, at which point you can walk normally :v:

That's... Unfortunate. Is there anywhere else in the room you could move the wardrobe to provide more space?
That's what I did when I was rearranging my room. I rotated the bed, and got some decent space from it. Maybe if you cornered the bed?

I probably can't, as it would then sit against the radiator.
I probably could basically rotate the furniture clockwise but it'd be a mess just to do it so it's probably not worth it.

Is that one of those lifehacker $22 standing tables?
Whats it like
I'm learining CNC machining atm, milling and turning mainly. My very first assignment was to make a rose out of iron with only handheld tools to learn the basics of metalworking. This is how it turned out.
[t]https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/1001548_692835237400324_1648522261_n.jpg[/t]

My second assignment was to plan a simple object, write a program for it and actually manufacture it afterwards using a CNC lathe. This piece had to demonstrate some basic elements like radiuses, chamfers...etc. So this is my..i dunno...pointy-end-something. It's made out of 6061 T6 aluminium.
[t]https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/1382109_739196292764218_197753904_n.jpg[/t]
At last but not least i had to manufacture a part with the mill, same story: plan it, program it, do it. I chose a logo from a game, EVE Online. It's the logo of an NPC faction called Serpentis. It is is also made out of aluminium. (It has some errors and the quality is not 100%, but hey i'm kinda just started learning this :) ). Also the machines are kinda shitty almost made in china quality and/or old, except one or two.

I might post some others soon, we have to practice a lot more and the instructor said we can do whatever we want (better motivation). So i might do an Umbrella Corporation logo and a chess piece.
Inception top. Dooo eeet.
I wish I had a lathe, doesn't even need to be CNC.

Pretty good but the shelf for the keyboard is too short (I got a 19cm one because they didn't have the one they said in the article), if you get the right one it should be ok (Ekby Viktor I think). Otherwise it's pretty good although it takes a bit of getting used to. I also had to put another LACK shelf under the pc to make it reach the height of my eyes.
It can make you feel pretty bad the first few days, but I think that's normal because you're standing a lot more than you used to.
Asked in the not very active Halloween costume thread but figure I'll ask here too since you guys are creative as fuck. My lady has her heart set on this costume.

But we can't think of anything I could go as that would go with it. Any ideas? preferably one I could go buy or throw together fairly easily as Halloween is just a week away.
Go as a sexy dog.
I haven't exactly done this, but right now I'm doing a troubleshoot here.
I got a ceiling fan which 3-4 months old, over the summer it had periods it was running over 24 hours, which might have caused the bearings to melt due to the temperatures.
I made a recording of it:
https://soundcloud.com/thingy-schalks/broken-ceiling-fan
Also, when I start the thing, you hear a really weird resonance, which I can solve by giving it a hard knock with my fist. What could that mean?

It means your ceiling fan is broken.
Don't worry too much about it. My fan clicks and clacks all the time, but it still runs 24/7. They're built to handle that sort of abuse.
Cheap, Chinese products not.
I'll see how long this thing lasts.
If my post count has abruptly come to a hold around the summer, you'll know I got killed by a set of steel blades which have been sent flying.

Honestly, you're a whole lot more likely to have the motor burn out, maybe a few sparks. I doubt the mechanism holding the fan blades to the axis would fail before that.
And there's nothing wrong with Chinese manufacturing... Cheap Chinese manufacturing, sure, but a lot of great things come out of China too.

Mostly copies of other peoples stuff though. There is a pretty scary market of late in china of taking electronics for recycling, taking all the useful components off with massively high temperatures and then selling them on as brand new.

In that case, I'll let this fan kill itself with pleasure. In the summer nights this thing was keeping me out of my sleep because the whole time I hear ZNG ZNG ZNG ZNG
How about I get a Westinghouse Cyclone Chrome fan?
I like the look of it, it seems to be quiet if I read the reviews (well such people aren't always very informative), it seems to perform very well.
Only downside is it doesn't have a light kit, but I might put a universal one in there, or install the light kit of my current one.
Took down my ant farm :(
Took down my ant farm :(
Why?

Probably has something to do with the new house and stuff.
what species of ant did you have anyway?
