Lookin' good dude. What's your set-up? Also i'm pretty sure a lot of hardware stores sell handles for tools like that, as a future reference.

Personally, I'd rather have a handle like he's got. In a way, it would seem sort of cheating to use a store bought component.
Done a bit more on the box, which I'll now call the RGB box (RGBox?). I'm amazed at how nicely everything fits in this box I randomly found at my school.

a nice big battery box fits under the board

ATM I plan on using it as a little device to track how well the diet me and my family are following just for fun, but I can probably use it for many other things later.
What I must do now:
-mount some buttons. Dunno if I want them on the clear or the black, and I don't know if the plastic likes being drilled much bigger holes.
-put shit on board (not a lot really, I kinda want to cut the board in half as all I need is some resistors for buttons & spot for SD card module to store data)
-programming
an issue with the box is that the hinges on the back aren't too strong I think. One of four was already broken when I found the box. I'm thinking of sticking some magnets there if I have to :v:
Added Psycholite's to my setup. Two spotlights are mounted behind the cabinet and wiring runs to the two control boxes (the pink things) which convert audio input into strobed AC output.

I made all of them in my gas powered forge in my backyard. It's just more convenient for me to make handles out of wood that have in my yard. The problem with the axes is forging the eyes. I need better tools.
I quenched that big knife earlier today and it got a bunch of cracks so I forged it into a smaller knife which I will grind and then quench in oil.
I'm making myself a coffee can forge, have all I need, the refractory cement, MAPP gas, something to mount it on, I'll show it off once I finish it
I think I want to start fabrication on a wood gasifcation generator. I'm in love with those things for some reason.

What are you using as an anvil? Should be able to find something to use as a hardy hole.
I cracked the plastic while trying to drill it :I

looks shit now, maybe there's some way to cover up the cracks? I dunno.
Maybe you could work it into some sort of design?
I'm looking into using a Raspberry Pi for website hosting. I'm working on all the prerequisite stuff, like business Internet, so I just need to figure out the basic hosting stuff.
Anyone have any pointers on that? Also, anyone have any ideas on other stuff I can use a Pi for? I feel I should mention that I can't code, nor do I really have any desire to learn how. I've tried that too many times before.

I use a few different things as anvils, the problem is the drift i'm using. It's not big enough and it should be perfectly round instead of octagonal like the one I have.

If you're using the Linux OS on it, you may be able to install a software bundle called LAMP which has all you need for Linux webhosting on it.

Great. Can that run the Wordpress platform? I figure that's probably the best place to start, since I don't know much about building websites.
Well, I finally decided that I'm going to work on replacing the water pump and filter for my backyard pond to try and improve things a bit. As far as I know the pump and piping is around 25+ years old and I would like to get a new more efficient pump and a larger filter to help keep the pond clean as the current setup doesn't seem to do the best job.
If anyone knows of some good pond size pumps please let me know, as I'm pretty new to this.
Also looking to replace the current florescent lights with a new some new lighting, but I'm not quite sure what yet.
The current pump and piping setup.

Waterfall, it acts as an alternate pathway if the filter gets clogged with something.

The garage lighting right now. It's not nearly as bright at the picture makes it seem.

So a couple of days ago I bought some old WWII leather pouches from ebay with the intent on using them in a custom I'm building.
They arrived quite squished and very dirty so had I a go at getting them back into shape.

[img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/Z5iPpmx.jpg[/img_thumb]
The pictures don't show it really well, but they were filled with cobwebs and quite sqeuky.
So I have only done one yet as a test and here is how I did it.
I started with wiping it down with a wet rag alot, removing the grime and stuff and while it was drying I held it is shape with 4 packet of cards.
[img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/qVZvsdz.jpg[/img_thumb]
The wet rag already did wonders to the leather, it started to get supple.
Then after it was cleaned I lathered it leather grease which it soaked up like crazy and also did wonders when it worked its magic.
I'm liking the end result.

One down, two to go
Sorry for the crappy pictures, don't really have a good camera other than my tablet.
So... Are you building a utility belt or something?
Really nice work fixing those up, though. I've got some leather pouches from the 40s sitting around that I really need to fix up. Stitch some bits back on, that sort of thing.

Yeah definitely, once Apache's set up (the A in LAMP), there should be a "public_html" folder set up in one of the directories it was installed to (usually "/www" on Ubuntu) and you can just install WordPress to that.

Fantastic. I've called the Charter sales office and ordered a 60/4 business-tier Internet (We're currently on 30/4 residential, but our upload speeds go to 8+ pretty often), so I can actually run a server without them sending threatening letters.
I just need to actually order the RaspPi, a case, and... Actually, what accessory things should I buy with it?

Thanks, I'm building a Star Wars Mandalorian costume for which I'm going to use those 3 toogehter with a MP40 ammo pouch as belt pouches.

Awesome. My dad's friend does the Star Wars costuming stuff, he's got a pretty cool Boba Fett costume.

No idea tbh, I've looked into them before but not in that much detail.
Just a large SD card to hold all the data on and a way to input to it with a keyboard and screen I guess - sorry I can't be of much more help here.

I've figured it out. I'm going to try to do what this guy did, but with a few minor alterations: [url]http://www.dingleberrypi.com/[/url]
He says 2mbps up is the bottom line for self-hosting, but I get anywhere from 4-8mbps.
I'm wondering about the heatsinks, and overclocking the thing at all. He overclocked to 850mhz up from 800, and I'm really curious as to whether or not that presented any clear advantage. I know they've got the Turbo mode now, which basically does the same thing. I might try that, see how it goes.
I've been reading up on the little things, and they're super versatile. People have done everything from ambilight systems to greenhouses with them. I might pick up another couple down the road, after I learn a bit more about them.

Looks pretty interesting and seems to be exactly what you wanted, so good luck!
Definitely bear in mind the fact he says about the 512 MB Pi being more likely to hold everything than the 256 MB one, so I'd definitely recommend the larger as well.

Yeah, I bought the 512MB Model-B. Do they even sell a 256MB model-B anymore, or is it just the Model A?
Here are all three pouches cleaned and greased.

The model B is 512 MB, whereas model A is 256 MB.
How would I go about wiring up a single potentiometer in a pair of stereophonic headphones without making the output signal monophonic? I feel like I'm missing something.

By using a stereo potentiometer (image google it), basically two pots on one knob.

Ahh, I see. Cheers buddy!
Also related: I picked up a pair of old headphones with a potentiometer in them, but the headphones are so old the component is shagged. Is there a way I figure out a suitably rated replacement? The potentiometer has no markings.
