Has anyone here tried building a PVC pipe instrument?
I recently got interested in them again and now I'm looking into building one of my own.
Here you go :)

Couple of little ghetto quick-fab electronics projects I've done in the past.
Quickly got a honda ecu up and running on the bench one night.

Little double stack, single sided, perfboard, 20 output, multiplexer/microcontroller board.

Bought a red ring 360 for like 40 bucks and wanted to cut it up some, so I fixed the red ring issue, added a plexi window and modded the dvd drive. later I had a friend do some artwork on the plexi that I cant find any pictures of.

I also have a few home made bench top hobby power supply units fabbed from ATX PC units. My most recent I went a bit overboard on and added leds and plexi windows. It's a bit 'tacky' I know

And this insane thing, 512 leds in a 8x8x8 cube controlled independently with only 72 inputs. It wound up being knocked down off high places a few times to the point I rather start over than continue to repair it.

A quick and simple switched remote outlet for a 120 socket, however the neutral wire is looped on the outside of the case so I can clamp a multimeter around it and measure current on the line.

A tool I made to hold the crank in a D-series engine while inserting pistons/rods and attaching rod caps/bolts. Simple and so effective.

All of those are just some little things I already had laying around on photobucket

I've been trying to make a musket for the last few days. Its going pretty well. I might do a thread on it if it works out.

Dude! never fire that thing! it looks like it would kill you!
lol that's just a stick with a pipe on it
Dude! never fire that thing! it looks like it would kill you!
No fear of that, I've tried firing it 3 times with 3 different explosives and it failed every time.
Whittled a Colt Navy six gun out of poplar and pinewood, not finished though.

Kinda reminds me of one of the homemade muskets from Mount and Blade: F&S.
Just a few things I did:
An Arduino based interface circuit for my car (Citroen Xsara Picasso HDi), so I can control my new sony head unit with the existing wheel mounted controls:

Yeah it's not the prettiest circuit but it works great.
Some sound absorbing panels for my home studio, starting with the first reflection points:

And I restored an analogue synth-drum pad to working condition:
DIY isnt about why, its about WHY NOT.
What, you never get the urge to make something for sheer hell of it? :v:
i draw up plans and literally move everything in my room around at least once a year because of this feeling
it's gone through so many shit iterations i should post some of the awful configurations i've had before
not sure if its much of 'DIY' or just a craft/hobby thing.

I made this chalkboard keychain for a friend or mine. (Teacher) I used polymer clay and no tools except an xacto.

I also made this peanut butter chocolate truffle candy from clay... :c
So, when I bought this Razer Deathadder Leftie mouse like... 2 years ago, it started having a malfunction with its scrollwheel 6 months after I got it. I just kinda put up with it. A year later, i tried hitting up Razer Support to take them up on that warranty they boast about... and whats this? My order number doesn't exist. :| Gee thanks.
So, finally getting tired of the scroll-wheel issues, I disassembled it and replaced the scroll-wheel component with one that I found off of a dead mouse downstairs in the basement.
Shit works like it was brand new now. I forgot how much I missed the smell of a hot soldering iron.

RIP cathal6606
I don't see how that is going pretty well, it looks like a garden stake with a pipe tied to it

aww yea, plucked these from a banged-up stereo on the side of the road.
i'm hunting down their datasheets so i can make proper use of them.

Looks like? That's exactly what it is.

Posted this in DD a while back, it's an oak pipe i made on a wood lathe with hand tools, the one in the background is an older one made out of shitter wood.
I miss this one, i don't have it anymore but it worked really well and looked awesome to boot

I have a whole bunch of oldschool vacuum tubes from the early 40s through late 70's. A lot are unsealed/broken but still hold their shape, if you're planning on getting artsy, let me know,.
:c*
Made some more clay thingies.*
Sushi, a cake with a slice and starbucks coffee.*
The coffee whip cream got fucked up so I redid the whole thing.*

Much more realistic whip cream:

Ok.. These are huge.. I forgot how to minimize.
They are very cool, I wish I was artistic. My creativity stops with music.
Been soldering a patch panel for the past few hours, so many bloody points. And I have 3 panels to do.

it should be able to handle shotgun loads, how thick is it?
Been tinkering with my Arduino all day; I think my game of Simon is pretty good:

Not much, but I installed these fans (took them from a server cooling rack at work) on my bed frame. Only used 1 screw so they can swivel. Damn things are really loud though.
Not sure if I have enough to make a thread but here is a stop light stand I have been working on in my shop class:
[t]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/34886768/Pictures/Projects/StopLightWIP.jpg[/t]
The stand itself is around 3 feet tall and with the light on it its almost 6 feet tall.
It consists of a old tire rim with the end of a old car tent support leg welded to it so another leg could be inserted into it.
The light is attached to the post through the hole bottom using a threaded adapter I made welded to the post and a aluminum nut a friend made using a CNC mill we have at school.
Here is what I'm using to control the lights currently:
[t]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/34886768/Pictures/Projects/SwitchBox.jpg[/t]
I'm going to drill a small hole in the side of each light section and install a small toggle switch for each light.
I hooked a deck light sensor up to it too, but I'm not sure if I should actually attach it to the light and have a toggle switch that lets you use the sensor or just have it constantly on:
[t]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/34886768/Pictures/Projects/SensorOff.jpg[/t][t]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/34886768/Pictures/Projects/SensorOn.jpg[/t]
I plan on painting the base black after I clean up the tire rim and if I can find the right yellow I'll repaint the light itself.
I also still have to drill a hole at the back of the base for the power cord to fed through so.
It would be rather interesting to fit a DMX dimmer pack into that and computer control it.
Could be some money in that for stage props. DMX traffic lights.
I was thinking of doing this if I can get hold of those relays

That's sweet. What type of wood is it and what tools used?
looks poplar or pine from here

Looks like RR_Raptor65's got some competition!
That's sweet. What type of wood is it and what tools used?
The blade an guard are made from leftover pine and the handle and pommel are made from a branch of a whitethorn three that I cut down a last year.
Heavy welsh/english warbow made of hickory. Made a few before but they were all too short to match my height, and this hickory is much more springy than the osage orange I used last time.

Not sure of the draw weight but its really damn heavy. Fired a crappy weighted dowel arrow, it flew 60 meters in less that a second and embedded itself an inch into the ground. Now I just need some proper bodkin arrows :[
Bled my knuckle because I nocked the string too close to the handle and it slapped my hand, won't make that mistake again :v:
