I can kind of understand why some people like sports (strategy, the excitement, etc) but I find the reality of them really boring. Football, for instance, not only seems rather monotonous, but then there's like ten minute breaks between anything that happens and there's a bunch of commercial breaks in there. It's like
lmao if you actually play football youmight learn to respect how hard it is on your body. There's a reason for halftime.
And unreliable, what was your bad experience with varsity football?
lmao if you actually play football youmight learn to respect how hard it is on your body. There's a reason for halftime.
And unreliable, what was your bad experience with varsity football?
I've played football. Even if I hadn't, it's pretty clear how hard it is on your body. Doesn't make it any more exciting to me.
No disrespect for the players (or for the people that enjoy the game); I just can't get into it.
To add on to the ownership thing, I am perfectly fine with people backing a team strongly. People showing pride in USA teams at the Olympics is patriotism, or their local football team represents their state.
But people that choose teams for no apparent reason, confuse me. For example, Oregon has two college football teams, and we have a civil war and stuff, which is cool, cause I go to one of the schools, and it promotes beneficial competition between the schools on and off the field. But other Oregonians who choose one team over another, who didn't attend either school, or most of them don't even know someone who went to either school, and yet are the biggest die-hard fans. People always want that other team to lose, even if its in no way connected to their team, which I don't understand. They both represent Oregon, why wouldn't you want them both to do well? You don't even have any reason to like one over the other, you just decided one day.
Then the people who support out of state teams for no reason make even less sense. Their are exceptions though, like at the Olympics, if USA isn't in the competition, I always root for someone with an inspiring story, or genuinely the best performance, because the sense that they deserve it, and I think a lot of people are the same way.
Sports are fun to play. Watching someone else play is boring as hell. You want me to go to your super bowl party to watch a bunch of oversized men tackle eachother? Go fuck yourself.

that's the spirit im sure people love partying with you
I can't stand watching sports. I can't think of a more boring activity.
Playing them on the other hand, that's a lot of fun

I had no problem with gettin naked and taking a shower, but guys actually DID compare dick sizes and that was just awkward as fuck. There were also some bad jokes/hazing going on when the younger freshmen came in to take shower. I was one of four sophomores who played on varsity (i was running, two were line and the fourth got to take pictures - chubby as fuck). Some of the guys would lock the freshmen in the shower and they wouldn't get out until the late bell rang. seniors had the offperiod after that.
our coach would also watch us while we were in the locker room, and that kinda was the turning point.
I only watch sports when I'm with my friends, and even then, I'm not paying attention to the game
Watching sports is usually as exciting as watching a boring person browse youtube without listening to suggestions.
Playing them, on the other hand, is exciting when you're in it for fun. When people start blaming the least skilled player for everything that goes wrong...
Having been born in Glasgow and knowing what happens (that being: death) every single fucking time Celtic plays against Rangers I've learned to to dislike team sports which have a huge following.
Your team. My wrestling team's the fucking best. If it wasn't for them i wouldn't be the depressed asshole i was 2 years ago.
I play organized football and basketball almost every week. My friends and the other people I play with are nowhere near a professional level, obviously, but games still get pretty intense. I'm a real competitive bastard and absolutely hate losing. Putting in the work and time to improve your understanding, knowledge, and application of a sport makes it worthwhile when you're actually able to win games.
In terms of watching sports on television, there's just something about the athleticism and finesse of players on the professional level that puts me in awe. In basketball, it's visually appealing to see someone jump and rise an ungodly amount of feet in the air for a dunk. Or in baseball for example, pitchers manipulating the baseball to strike out batters.

I understand sports and very much enjoy playing them with my peers, but when it comes to joining a team for that, it crosses the line for me. I have other things to do. A future to plan and a job to attend. I love a good competition now and then but sometimes I just like to sit down and break out the mellow music.
My brother-in-law is dressing up his baby in sports merchandise and having her watch sports on TV all the time. They're really not that important, at all, and a lot of people have an unhealthy obsession with them. Nice way to brainwash yet another youth into wasting time and money on something that doesn't matter.

having fun, bonding with and making friends, and learning how to work with people is a total waste of time right?
watching an important game for your team can be extremely exciting. if you are raised to be a fan of a team, looking forward to their games every week can be awesome.
I like to watch certain sports, which I'm not good at.
But If I have to watch a sport which I like to play, it's boring.
I love sports though.
I like playing sports with friends, but I wouldn't do it on like a team or anything. It's just fun to mess around and screw with the rules.
yeah I think sports are overrated, but at the same time I think video games are overrated because I don't really play them. It's a subjective area
Sports are overrated.
And there's one very good reason for this.
If you're at school, and say 'I dont play videogames' everyone just goes 'okay.'
If you say you don't play sports people go all 'dude wtf is wrong with you'
I've heard of this happening, it personally hasn't happened to me but its true. They're both games, they should be reacted to in the same way.
Almost all the sports I take interest to are not famous or not available in school and only place to do those kind of activites are in some far away place where you have to take a long drive
Its really boring when you are raised in a place where everyone only plays one team sport and you can't really try any other team sport because its not as famous as the team sport everyone plays
I remember I did around 3-5 bare knuckle boxing fights for money. I forget how much I made but I remember I broke my hand. shit wasn't cash.

thought you weren't supposed to talk about that
I like playing sports, but I hate watching them lol.
I love sports, especially in high school.
American football is amazing, especially on varsity. The atmosphere, the rush, everything, it feels so great.
I love playing sports, but never understood the attraction towards just watching them and supporting a team.
I also got kinda put off being a sports supporter by the way my parents act. At one game I went to a couple years back, I remember my Mum yelling at the top of her lungs about how the umpires were blind and the opposition team was made up of rapists. It was pretty scary.
OP: "I hate sports because all the guys who play sports get the girls I like"
I always thought football would be way more interesting if the fields were sloped downwards.

Like that.
If you live in the US, there's nothing like varsity highschool football games. Especially in the smaller towns and schools with 3-6k kids. Wholes stadiums filled, loud as fuck, great atmosphere. I missed most of this year, miss it a lot.
If you haven't played on a team you wouldn't understand. Everyone working together as one ect,.
i run cross country for fun with my friends...brutal as fuck but its fun. i also play (american) football withmy friends, no pads, for fun. sports just really amps me up and its a great way to have fun and meet new people and make new friends. seriously you are missing out. high school varsity games are crazy and fun as hell to go watch too.
