I play varsity football.
It's great, the atmosphere is amazing every Friday night. Lining up right before the game, hearing the band playing, the crowd cheering, it really gets you pumped up.
American football is one of the best team sport experiences ever (in America at least)
The only problem with me is that it's too late to get into any sports at school because if I was going to, I should have started in middle school. Now since I'm a sophomore, I'd probably not even make the team, and if I did I would not know be nearly as good as the other people on the team. I'd be better off saving myself the embarrassment.

Your username is extremely ironic in this situation
Dont think so. I love football- both watching and playing
Not into competitive sports myself, but I do like the outdoors. I really couldn't care who wins the WC Australia vs New Zealand tonight, but I am going wakeboarding this morning.
that's completely wrong, you've probably never been tackled in football
Sounds like he is talking about soccer.
-snip-
Sports are fun, but the only two I'm actually good at are dodgeball and disc golf.
Very short paper I wrote in English class which pretty much sums up my thoughts on the subject of sports.
Way to sound pretentious.
Sports are all well and good, I don't personally enjoy team sports, but I respect those that do.
I do not, however, understand how public schools can justify cutting the education budget in order to spend more on sports-related things.
I hate the fact that team sports in high school are run by the school, it definitely detracts a lot from education. Especially teachers that give special privilege to the football students. It's really not fair when you work hard every day to get a good grade, and because your teacher is a football coach, half the class gets an automatic A to remain eligible.
Then again, I guess I am the only one truly gaining from that.
I've recently fell in love with assoc. football and plan to start getting into the whole shebang.
Very short paper I wrote in English class which pretty much sums up my thoughts on the subject of sports.
Football requires lots of skill, communication, teamwork, reaction, observation, a good knowledge of depth perception/your own skill and power, and so much more
I fucking hate when people just call it "kicking a ball about a field" because it's so much more than that.
You just sound like some butthurt moron who's sad that he's shit at the game (or doesn't like it? Maybe you don't like it because you're shit. I dunno.) so decides to lash out at everyone who does and degrade them as much as you can just so you can feel a little better than yourself. Way to be a cunt, idiot. Spoken just like someone who has no fucking clue what they're talking about.
I feel football would be a hell of a lot more interesting if there were, say, landmines scattered randomly across the field.
Or maybe, in baseball, after hitting the ball, you took the bat with you to first base, and the first baseman had a bat too, and you had to fight it out and shit.
I personally prefer sports like: Tennis, Darts and Snooker
With those ones, you get a bigger grasp of personality.
Although Football is nice, it's only better when you watch it with a "team" of friends.
It is all relative.
Football is like a religion. When its the off season people actually complain about it . Tbf its like damn football it over ohh look its fucking cricket time. Too make things worse they actually banned bringing crates of beer to 1 day matches so its like not even worth contemplating going any more.
ITT: nerds
I think that the generic sport types are overrated, especially football. But once you are into it and experience a game to the fullest with all the fans it is a real pleasure.

This.
There's also the mental side of the game, coaching. You just don't give a ball to a kid and tell them to kick it about, the coach teaches them about the necessary skills that they need to play, how to pass, cross and shoot. You can't have 11 kids on a field punting the ball about, you'll achieve nothing in the short and long term. Communication is encouraged because it helps kids with their confidence and social abilities. To write off sports is completely foolish because it can play a major part in someone's life and in effect you're writing off part of their life as well. Instead of being utterly negative about sports and saying ''dumb kids running about a field '' you should contemplate the positive effects of sports; healthy social activity, a boost to self esteem and a way of keeping the mind and body healthy.
You shouldn't let your experiences with players control your opinion of sports as a whole. It's ignorant.
