What I was referring to is the people who basically idolize gays due to the fact they don't have rights. Yeah, you aren't clear on what kind of special treatment you are talking about, deaded. And what exactly does it mean to idolize homosexuals?
I'm not entirely sure, but I think he means that some people don't want to be seen as homophobic, so they treat gay people nicer than they treat everybody else.
I think it's partly down to exposure. For example, where I grew there are very few black people (I'm not sure why) and I didn't really know any black people at all until I went to college. When I started there, I was suddenly in a more even mix of people and I had to consciously remember to treat everybody the same (even things like not staring at people, seriously). Because it was in my mind, I was worried that I'd be seen as racist in one way or another, which actually made it even worse.
I got over it pretty quickly, it's pretty fucking weird looking back on it.

Personally, I think the "gays are going to hell" Christians are wrong.
I am a Christian (not a majorly religious one but still) and I'm pretty sure in the bible it does NOT say "Gays are going to hell". I do believe it said "Homosexuality is a perversion" at one point.
