I don't think I have. Probably should some day.
When was there ever a DVD without subtitled commentaries?
There's a shit ton of them. In fact, 90% of the DVDs I watch don't have subtitled commentaries.
Must've been watching the right DVD's then. Or maybe they just don't bother with subtitles in NTSC land.
Listened and loved the Spaceballs Commentary.
I did for a while but really nowadays anything that I would've in the past wanted to learn I can generally pick up as I watch it based on my cinematography experience
sometimes i think i watched all the commentaries on the LotR films, and i watched the commentary on Hot Fuzz
The animated commentaries on the Simpsons box-sets where the team all dick around with graphics tablets are fucking hilarious. And on a somewhat related note I will always listen to the commentary on Valve games too.
I remember on the commentary of Gladiator, Russel Crowe points out a crew member in the backround wearing blue jeans and jokingly calls him a bastard.
Depends. If the movie is like something by Quentin Tarantino and he was in the commentary, I'd probably listen to it, or if it's with some of the actors. Usually I don't listen to it if it's just some of the behind the scenes guys.
Sometimes. The best commentary I've heard so far was for Fight Club.
I never used to do this up until about a few years ago, when I realized how good some of the commentaries can be.
Some shows have great commentary and I really enjoy it, like Arrested Development.
Arrested Development's commentary is hilarious.
Taladega Nights' commentary was hilarious. They acted as if it was a special edition DVD released 20 years in the future where the director was killed by a shark.
The only commentaries I've listened to are from a few Stargate: Atlantis episodes. I can only remember them talking about how one guy keeps his notes in his Carl Binder...
Sepaking of Stargate, I listened to the commentary on the Stargate film DVD. It's interesting how Emmerich went from "you should do things in real whenever you can" to 90% CGI 2012.
sometimes Commentary might make or break a dvd purchase.
Pretty much every movie or TV show I've watched on DVD, I listen to the commentary some point after watching the whole thing. Most of the time they're very interesting. You can learn how some things were shot, where it was located, what's going on, and just the people on the commentaries fucking around. I was wondering if FP listened to commentaries.
I have only watched two dvd commentaries
All the time, go watch conan the barbarian's if you want a good laugh. "Oh my god, so funny. We should totally make a sequel" "We did." "Oh yeah, huaghagh, so funny."
All the fucking time. But mostly only if it's an actor commentary, because those are the best. Resident Evil 1's commentary is fucking hilarious.
^This x 100. I will occasionally listen to them. For another great one, John Carpenter's 'The Thing' has a great commentary. It's funny listening to Kurt Russel laugh about it.
Only the one for Tropic Thunder because it was fucking hilarious.
YES!!! brought new meaning to Robert Downey Jr.'s "I never break character until I do a DVD Commentary" joke. in fact... whenever I put that movie on, as soon as it's over I watch the actor commentary. it's just too hilarious.
I sometimes listen to the commentary on Scrubs shows, I also do it sometimes after having watched a movie.
The only commentary I've listened to is Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events, the commentary with Lemony and the director. It's hilarious.
