• Why hasn't "under god" been removed from the American pledge?

I think facepunch is quite possibly the easiest place to troll ever.
Even though I don't believe in God, I try to say "under god" because, most people say it anyway. But what I was going to say was: It could be worse, way worse.
Yes but as well as being primarily a christian nation to begin with. Basing ones ideals off of a religion isn't necessarily a bad thing, it's how one puts them into practice.
You see, a lot of people here aren't sharp enough to comprehend this.
You see, a lot of people here aren't sharp enough to comprehend this.
Founding fathers were deists, but making a Christian nation, was not their intentions. Ahah, my post count is 1,234! I won't be posting for awhile, as this is remarkable.
most were deists.
Pedant.
uh what
uh what
Yeah you heard me.
Honestly, just don't say it. If you REALLY feel that angered about it. Like what has God ever done to you anyways? And I never said Religion, God Himself, what has He done to you that is SO bad you refuse to even mention his name?
The thing is we don't believe him, smart one. [editline]10:37PM[/editline] Why not just make saying "Under god" optional? It respects both sides of the table, so wouldn't it be the best thing to do? [editline]10:43PM[/editline]
my god op really lacks insight it would cause a shitstorm pretty much and do you really think the united states really is willing to change the pledge just because some teen on some internet forum has different views on religion? no of course not op is dumb
He isn't the only one, so your idea doesn't really work. [editline]10:59PM[/editline]
I don't know what school you other Americans go to, but here in Michigan, we don't say the pledge anymore in school every morning. At least not in high school. Also, if you want the under god taken out, then do what any other person who wants something changed does, send a letter to your representative. It's how anything ever gets done around here and posting here on Facepunch will get you no where. The reason 'under god' is still there is because the fact that most people either like it or don't care that it's there. The other half of people who don't want it there are just probably too lazy to do anything about it, like you posting here on Facepunch.
If you say "most" about people who like it or don't care it's there, why did you say "other half"? If both sides are equal, you can't say "most" and "half".
