Why does everyone have to use such exaggerating sarcasm in their arguments,
it's starting to piss me off.
There's more.
What about the stupid laws?

Why would you take the, what, 10 hour flight to Hawaii to do that? I rate you useful.
Now your pre-edit post is in stone. :smug:
You're an atheist in a Christian Culture based Country.
Because the country was founded on strong Christian and religious overtones.
Not only that, the majority by far believe in God.
You are not forced to say The Pledge if you don't want to. That would not only be illegal, but it would completely contradict the meaning behind The Pledge of Allegiance.
Also, if you have respect for our country, it should not matter what the words are. You should love your country, especially because it gives you the right to disagree with it.
EDIT: Wow, the people rating me disagrees need to go take a history lesson and government class.

You're a an Africa based ape not living in Africa. Some things can and should change.
Because having something to look up to and think is more powerful and to stay true to morals is there for a reason.
What, just rate me dumb because you guys don't think that having a figure to look up to is a good thing for a country?
The ideal of a god isn't the best, because it is a lie; but the ideal of enforcing morals with a powerful figure is good.
I don't believe in god; but most of the people on facepunch say they're athiest, but i tend to believe they're more anti-christ then athiest.
You don't say to a christian how unreal god is and how your soul wount be saved, you just nod and say "yea, i understand".
It's their choice to believe in that, even if it's a stupid choice, you should respect it.

Except that the things being talked about are things that were added in the fifties. And that's fucking bullshit.
It's a matter of principle. We need to have a strong stance towards this stuff, or else it festers and grows in the cracks and becomes something bigger and worse.
"If you truly loved the fact that your country is free and can change and favors no one group of people, then you would be happy to say something you don't actually mean and violate one of the founding principles of the great country you love! stoopid."

The USA was not founded on Christianity.

Doesn't work, motherfucker. If that were the case the more religious an area is the less violence it would have. The opposite is shown to be true. So fuck that noise.
You say that when you're trying to be polite. The internet isn't the place for politeness, it's the place for stark honesty.

Yeah nigga. I mean, goddamn lighthouses are more helpful than churches. Shiiit.
I posted my thoughts on religion and why I'm an atheist as a comment on youtube.
I was brought up religiously but am myself an atheist.
It would be nice to know if I'd go somewhere after I died, but I just can't y'know, suddenly believe. It's like saying:
"My dad invented the universe. The universe exists, that's proof enough - right?"
Did you believe that? I didn't think so. Same goes for me and religion. Until I have concrete evidence I just won't believe weather I want it or not.
Well put?
The settlers were hardcore Puritans...
Not quite. While compared to today's standards, they were hard assed fucks, they weren't necessarily more religious. In fact, it's likely that we're more religious now than they were then.

There's always bound to be extremists who want to fuck up things and take things out of context.
But if you went back in time 10 centuries ago, and made it so they didn't have religion, they would completely fuck over the place.

They already were. Read a history book.
Don't know if this is true, but I think it means that Liberty and Justice is a right only God can take away, no one else. Is it religious? Probably, but not necessary. God could just be another word for the highest power a human being can never have or have authority over.

So it's a contingency for when the pope takes over the world and puts all Americans into gulags?
So it's a contingency for when the pope takes over the world and puts all Americans into gulags?
pope is a delusional douchebag and he should be never be recognized as God.
as long we have responsible athiest people such as you, sir, he shall never take over the world.
and how did you get that from my statement?

Well what else could be the point of putting in a clause that states "And there is an undetectable and knowable entity and he is the only one able to overrule these rights"?
Well what else could be the point of putting in a clause that states "And there is an undetectable and knowable entity and he is the only one able to overrule these rights"?
point is there isn't really an undetectable and knowable entity and he is the only one able to overrule these rights, therefore saying that any douchebags like the ones who ban gay marriage should screw off.
point is there isn't really an undetectable and knowable entity and he is the only one able to overrule these rights, therefore saying that any douchebags like the ones who ban gay marriage should screw off.
Except the very people who put that phrase into the pledge are the people campaigning against gay rights.
Except the very people who put that phrase into the pledge are the people campaigning against gay rights.
hence why they're called douchebags and they don't get the reason why 'Under God' is there.
but hey, they're conservatives, did you expect any less?
