Boohoo a 3-letter-name is so insulting to my Atheist religion! Why do I even put up with living in this country?
Oh woes is me, those crazy atheists are being mean to my evil empire! They should all just go get out of the country because they HATE AMERICA WAH WAH GLENN BECK RUSH LIMBAUGH FOX NEWS NOBAMA WAH WAH
I only care about religion if it affects my rights or the rights of others. :v: Alas, my only law in life if that I can do anything I want as long as it doesn't affect others. This is true. Find one law against something that doesn't affect others. (Don't count religion)
It's the document that grants me my individual rights as an American citizen, I kind of care about it.
I lol'd. I really fucking lol'd. Magic paper ftw.
Can there even be an ateist president in you guys's country?
i believed in god but then i grew up
Gay marriage? Drugs?
The law against gay marriages are because of religion. Drugs on the other hand... For some people it may affect many, for others - not. To be on the safe side they've set up a law against it. I mostly agree with them. [editline]01:23PM[/editline]
Can there even be an ateist president in you guys's country?
Nope. Same goes for senators. And judges...
I lol'd. I really fucking lol'd. Magic paper ftw.
Yeah man. Stupid guy! It's like he was trying to say that the document is what provides the rules and regulations by which the government functions. But we know what he really meant! God, you're such a fucking retarded prick. [editline]11:27AM[/editline]
The law against gay marriages are because of religion. Drugs on the other hand... Name me one thing that you do that will effect NO ONE.
Blowing up my house in the middle of the ocean. Also, I meant affecting people in a negative way.
Blowing up my house in the middle of the ocean. Also, I meant affecting people in a negative way.
You killed the damned seal.
If it isn't directly affecting you in any way, which it clearly isn't, you really shouldn't care.
Well maybe in a couple of decades, Atheism will be a Majority? Hopefully.
If it isn't directly affecting you in any way, which it clearly isn't, you really shouldn't care.
My next door neighbor is luring children to his basement to rape and murder them, but why should I care it doesn't affect me :downs:
I lol'd. I really fucking lol'd. Magic paper ftw.
Considering your name is 'TheAnarchist' and you're lolling at one of the most important documents in America that shapes the government and the people, I assume you're either retarded or a troll. Or both.
Here's the thing. I'm an atheist, and I can see that it isn't a big deal. I don't believe in god, but I believe the term "god" can be used as a powerful metaphor. The Canadian national anthem contains the phrase "God keep our land glorious and free", and you don't see my shit in a twist. It's not a prayer, it's just a phrase in the same way "Oh my fucking God" and "God damn it" are just phrases.

So it could be changed to, "Fuck keep our lands glorious and free"? Think about this shit before you type it.
So you're saying that God isn't being used in a religious context even though it obviously is, it's being used as a ephemism? When you yell "God damn it!", are you actually asking god to come down from the heavens and damn whatever you are yelling at to hell? The phrase most certainly used to mean that, but language has evolved.
You don't have to say the pledge.
I'm saying it doesn't have to be used in a religious context, calm the hell down.
That's what I'm saying, the pledge isn't a euphemism. They aren't in any way comparable.
Well what about Canada's anthem? We're a much more liberal country than the US, yet we manage to not bitch about god being in there as well.
Well what about Canada's anthem? We're a much more liberal country than the US, yet we manage to not bitch about god being in there as well.
Maybe you're lazy. Like everyone else on the planet.
Maybe you're lazy. Like everyone else on the planet.
Or because there are more pressing issues. Sure, I'd like to see the word removed. But it's not like we're indoctrinating kids with it or anything. If anything, it's helping the word god become even more of a euphemism than it already is.
I agree, but I don't care about it since I'm Canadian. Although we have to say "GOD keep our land" a few hundred times in our anthem :frown:
Or because there are more pressing issues. Sure, I'd like to see the word removed. But it's not like we're indoctrinating kids with it or anything.
Yeah, like I said. Laziness. So wait, now you do want it removed?
I said that I would like to see it removed, but see no reason to be protesting over it.
Everything suddenly became offensive in the 21st century.
Everything suddenly became offensive in the 21st century.
Yes. Because Humanity is so prudish these days.
The settlers were hardcore Puritans...
Settlers =/= Founders. The settlers came to America more than a 100 years before the Declaration of Independence was even ratified. This means that it's physically impossible for a settler to be a founder of America, for they did not write or help ratify the Declaration of Independence.. Also article 11 of the treaty of Tripoli:
the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treaty_of_Tripoli#Article_11 So yeah let me know when you're open to suck my dick
I said that I would like to see it removed, but see no reason to be protesting over it.
Nobody is protesting. Protesting does fuck all anyway.
Everything suddenly became offensive in the 21st century.
No, people actually got the balls to speak up finally because if you said anything before you were either hung, or treated as a traitor to your country.
