holy shit 6 years when
Interesting few years here I guess. Haven't really done much but started talking with quite a few people I enjoy calling friends, learned new things I didn't know before, and found out much more about myself than I thought I ever would before I joined.
Never really thought about it before, but FP has pretty much shaped how I see myself now.
I've been on here since 2011 (this is my new account, old one is BlueAndGray), and have only started actively posting since 2013, but I must say, without being on here, things would've been completely different. It really helped me reach out to a variety of games and players of those games. It has told me just how diverse the internet can be.
Damn. Sure been a while. I remember when I first joined FP to test a gamemode or somesuch which seemed neat. Hence the name. Don't know what the fuck made me do that. :v: Name sort of stuck. Learned how to spell, things like that. Lurk for the most part. Things like that. Love you all. Happy 1st decade.
Well i've only been here since around 2011 but it's a good place to kill time and distract myself.
What a wild ride.

Facepunch has always been a whirlwind of emotions.
i miss the subforums for separate video games
holy shit its been 9 fucking years. 9 fucking years when I bought HL2 on Halloween and found this forum and garry's mod. I would spend a good 2-3 hours on this forum every day since then.
I can recall my first few posts having terrible spelling and shitposting. Hell, I can recall that I was pissing AaronTab off over PMs and getting banned by dragon over it. I also got banned for putting up a thread in OIFY saying I would post my sister's tits if it got 23 pages and not posting them
thanks to facepunch im a cynical bastard who plays video games and knows how to type but chooses to do it wrong anyway
Signed up in 2006, but got perma'd by Hezzy for replying to a banme. Now who's had the last laugh!?

I assume you mean 9 years , since HL2 wasn't even released until 16th of November 2004.
I probably wouldn't be the way I am without facepunch.
Only forum that was able to make truly make me feel shitty for getting banned; I mean look at this shit it used to say when you got banned

Now I have to wonder if the forum does survive another 10 year will we start seeing the kids of members posting on facepunch?

goddamn you avatar brings me back to the time of what the christ
:w-hat: the :fork:
Its been a good run everyone! I've lurked some of the best threads here, and hopefully many more to come.
Been using Facepunch since I was 13 and it has been a hell of ride.
I like to think that Facepunch has helped me write better and manipulate my English teachers to giving a better grades. Which now is like getting more Agree ratings in my brain.
Wouldn't be me without Facepunch, to be honest, despite only being there for 2 years it feels like my entire life. Probably because when I joined Facepunch I'd barely even started my GCSEs, so much in my life has changed and oh god have I.
I feel like Facepunch has something to do with that.
It's strange how quite an insignificant forum can have a huge effect on us all. I signed up at 11, now 17 and I don't think I'd be studying CompSci at uni next year if it wasn't for you guys. Garry, if you're reading this you have had a positive impact on so many people's lives through GMod and FP and you should be hella fucking proud of it.
There are surely a lot of people here who seem to enjoy FP so much. I don't remember why I joined but I know that I stayed because this forum is unique. There are no other forums like this, if there were I wouldn't be here. [sp]fucking "Dan was boobies" is so legendary[/sp]
I'm kinda jealous of the FPers whose life was enriched by this forum because mine wasn't. Sure, this forum is great for developing critical thinking, but a lot of FPers are friends with one another and I've met nobody. I'm pissed because this is also my real life situation.
Now for something related to the thread: Happy 1st decade FP, here's to three more!
Facepunch is such a big part of my life it's scary.
I enjoy looking back on all the things that went on during the past of Facepunch that I've missed, such as some brilliant posts like this:

The screenshots section of the forums taught me more about art then three college courses combined. (art, design and computer graphics)
Since creating screenshots isn't really a way to give back to the community, I whipped up this guide sharing everything I learned about making screenies. It seems to be doing decently enough on steam.

I've been here since probably 2005 or 2006. It's easily my primary forum hangout...at least since Totse went down. Yes, I'm that old. I miss BBS...
It's just...it's small enough to not be overwhelming, but big enough to not be boring. The car forums I like have a few members and posts just trickle in. Someplace like SA where every thread hits 10 pages in 10 minutes is just too overwhelming and impersonal for me. I just stayed with FP because it fits.
Though, as time goes on, I'm aging out of the demographic and just don't feel like I fit in anymore.
Facepunch has taught me so much over the years, there's barely been a day where I don't go here if I'm using a computer.
Facepunch is programmed into my muscle memory. When I'm banned, I'll find myself randomly clicking on the bookmark before realising "this isn't going to work."

The older I get, the more smart I become over the general population.
Soon, they will worship me as an omniscience god.

Better than having a site you frequent being down for over a month and still hitting the bookmark for it out of habit.

I miss the old ban notice, it needs to come back.
I remember when I became gold thanks to post count
Hate to be the negative nancy in this happy place but I feel FP is on a decline
Don't get me wrong I enjoy the vibe here, it's good but I feel like with every passing day, FP is attracting a rather shit crowd.
I've seen major rises in xenophobism, transphobism/homophobism, islamophobism, right wing opinions and groups, an ever increasing amount of gun patriots, a hike in people resorting to violence (we should slaughter them), paedophilia and even in some cases, child grooming
While I'm aware that the mods are hot on their heels to tackle this problem, it isn't nice to becoming on a site with an ever growing reputation as "that site".
Happy 10 years, cleanse it
