I gotta give it to that Stangers.. they're equipped with one of the best sounding stock V8s. Even one dude I know who simply cut the mufflers off, his sounds great. Not too common that straight pipes doesn't sound like ass.
Super 44s sound great. Can pick up for like $100 bucks a pop used
Super 44s for $100 each used?! Where the hell do you shop for mufflers god damn They don't even cost that NEW!

I would hope he means a pair. One can easily find Super 44s for $75 each brand new.
I'd totally pick up some 44s, easy to install?
I'd totally pick up some 44s, easy to install?
As easy as any other muffler.
Why do you want to move the gearshift to the floor? If you're not converting it to a manual trans, why bother??
Why do you want to move the gearshift to the floor? If you're not converting it to a manual trans, why bother??
It feels better in general. Also you can shift 1-2-D to speed up your launches a little bit, which will be much much easier when you have a floor mounted shifter. [editline]15th September 2013[/editline] Also congratulations on the car, OP. It's a fantastic choice for a first car, and an excellent deal. Plus it's really practical.
that 1-2-d thing just tears up your transmission, you won't get consistently faster launches that way
Listen to this guy. Burnt the clutches out of my auto Lexus doing that. U don't gain anything. At least I didn't. 1/8 mile times were almost identical.
A lot of people even run straight auto for bracket racing just for the solid time consistency!
most people serious about drag racing run a 3 speed auto with a full manual valve body lol

Holy balls, is that thing wrapping out at 10k? [editline]16th September 2013[/editline] Manual=more fun Automatic=more consistent
that 1-2-d thing just tears up your transmission, you won't get consistently faster launches that way
Okay fair enough on the damaging part, but it's definitely faster on my Crown Vic. Just putting it in D makes it take so long to get moving it's ridiculous. Going up a single gear is quick enough, but then it takes so long to go to the next one I could probably mail order the next gear, disassemble the transmission, install it, then button it all up, all before the automatic has gotten there, well, automatically. It's probably a LOT better on a more modern transmission like in OP's charger. But regardless of my frankly stupid advice on shifting habits, a floor mounted shifter definitely feels better to most people.
that 1-2-d thing just tears up your transmission, you won't get consistently faster launches that way
I disagree. Unless the Charger tranny is weaker than my Impreza's. Ive been shifting my Impreza 1-2-3-D for over 35k miles, up shifts and down shifts. The only way ive heard of damaging it this way is if you hold the brake+gas to do a launch
that 1-2-d thing just tears up your transmission, you won't get consistently faster launches that way
this seems to be one of those 50/50 opinion things. in that they wouldn't put it there if you'd blow your trans up using them.
this seems to be one of those 50/50 opinion things. in that they wouldn't put it there if you'd blow your trans up using them.
Ive seen quite a few say its something thatll destroy your transmission for sure, but ive put on 35k miles doing it, im currently at 220k miles. I recently changed my fluid+filter, the fluid looked fine. Not burnt, not gritty. Looked like i couldve gone a lot longer on it. Wouldve, but my filter needed a change. My tranny doesnt slip, engages perfectly. Center diff still works great. I think if your transmission goes out while doing it, it was already on its way out. It could also be from not changing the fluid+filter when you should, or doing brake+gas launches
yea but under wot? everytime?
Not always. My car revs up fairly quick. Normal driving, i upshift at 4k under half throttle or less. Taking off quick, upshift at 5k at 3/4 or more. Either way, a normal driver wont be doing wot all day erry day. Even on a strip/race only automatic, you dont put on much time/nearly that many miles
why didn't you just buy a manual then?
The car was originally bought in '05 for my mom. I inherited it when i got my license. Lots of history in the car, so i dont want to sell it. May eventually swap it
Found a pick and pull type of parts dealer that is willing to sell me the entire shifting assembly from an RT for $200. I think that's a pretty good deal. Oh and I want to make it a floor shifter for a couple of reasons. 1. Never had a floor shift vehicle (I've driven trucks mostly) 2. The shifter overlaps with the radio 3. Looks nicer in general, considering that there's just a hole with wires in the floor
I am the opposite, I always wanted a column shifter, but I keep getting cars with floor shifters. I like the extra space you have with a column shifter, and frankly, I find them really neat.
All my cars were column shifters(GM, and a Dodge), then I bought a manual.
I like column shifters if it's a more relaxed sort of car. they're glorious on a caddy but I wouldn't want one on like a muscle car
[t]http://i.imgur.com/Q0fd7M3.jpg[/t] Finally got it home! On the way home, not a single person would pass me. They'd go up to the side of me really quickly.. Then the second they saw the spot light, the backed off. Some even slowed further down and got behind me and stayed there. Dis' gon' be good.
