Australia is one of the most irreligious western countries in the world. Again, I may have a biased viewpoint living in Victoria, but I only know a few religious people (about 5 people in my philosophy class of 25) and very few people here give a shit about religion in general. It just doesn't affect people's lives. Doesn't Australia have incredibly low church attendance?

Yes! It does. They did a thing called the national church life survey, and while we still have a pretty high number of people who list as a certain religion on the census, hardly any are regular churchgoers. They just say it because their parents are.
