ahahah
I live 5 minutes drive from a main bus interchange and base where the buses get parked, 15 from another main interchange, and I have a train station 60 seconds away, and a 3 station bus stop 30 seconds from my house
I like my public transport system :smug:
I've got a train station like 5 minutes from my house (walking).
But it always takes the train AGES to get there. Sometimes up to an hour.
My bus is rarely late but its a cunt when its 5 minutes late as the train would already of gone.

map of my previous post, the red is the major bus interchange/bus parking area (name?), blue is the train station, brown is the 3 platform interchange, and dark blue is the second major interchange. A is my suburb, I live withing a kilometer of where the A is
I don't get how you can say Vic is better rookie, all you have on me is trams. And even then, we have the citycat system (down due to the floods) and a shit ton of buses in the city
I've done plenty of travelling and I reckon Melbourne's the best for the metropolitan area anyway.
Just wondering, where have you been, and were you required to catch it?
I also live where there is no PT (beyond the end of the Frankston line bro) and even though I spend most of my time driving I can still say PT here beats any other state.
I'm not too sure about that - looking at SA's PT, it's pretty amazing. Between the fact that they get higher temp degree days on average, yet don't have the constant sleeper problem, and their buses actually work, etc.
sure, we're no switzerland or japan when it comes to trains, but we have the largest tram network in the world (which is almost free when you think about it) and our trains are dirt cheap
No one expects us to be like that - we just want a reliable, non congested network, which we don't have. Our City loop [trains] was built in the 1980s, and is not designed to handle the amount of traffic that it takes now. It's often the reason so many of the trains are delayed.
Also, our network isn't cheap, if you're talking about fares... oh dear:

[p.s. our current Australian CPI for services is 1.7% - omnomnom says the Vic Govt]
melbourne is an anomaly when it comes to traffic congestion, PT is the fastest way to move long distances in peak hour
this is true, pathetic huh?
lol what SA PT
lol what SA PT
It would be pretty easy to have PT for the 5 people who live there
Adelaide has, like, a few trains and one tram. Lots of buses though

And Churches, can't forget churches
I've never had a problem with public transport in Melbourne. The only delays I've ever suffered have been because some selfish fuck decides to jump in front of a train in peak hour. With two train stations, at least five bus stops and a couple of tram stops within 10 minutes of my house, it seems like we've got it good in Melbourne as far as the public transport network goes. Pretty expensive though, yeah.
Public Transport all over Australia sucks.
i think we take it for granted
You're on the other side of the world to me, not so long ago we wouldn't have ever spoken. Australia's cool.

Gotta fix that overlap on Thursday, and Thursday is gonna be a bitch but yeah.
i think we take it for granted
but it's shit, so how could we?
Shit is a relative term. American Subways have homeless people shitting in them and New Zealand has buses that don't even come. It is shit but it's better than other people's shit.
well i'm just basing this off my own experiences using other countries transports (while being on a schedule too)
The only places I've been to with a public transport system that rivals Australia's is Paris and Amsterdam.
Japan's train system is crazy good
