Cos Garry thinks it's appropriate so it must be for the right reasons.

I'm a university student, damnit. I am fundamentally opposed to sleep, financial security and a nutritional diet!

I'm so tired. And it's the second week.
I need sleep. Whereas before, I was fine without it.
That's so odd.

Uni is hard-work I tell you. I have 3 9am-6pm days and the other two are just where ever a prac is, is a prac I go to.

Seeing them next month, not a huge fan but they'll be alright.
I wish to join the ADF once I finish year 12. :3:
I've heard really bad things about getting into the ADF, specifically how strict they are about recruiting Riflemen. Only 2 intakes a year and a ton of requirements, worse than getting any other job.
I wish to join the ADF once I finish year 12. :3:
Why?
They'll pay for his college degree, and then he can go die for America in the Middle East

So wait you saying they only take 2 riflemen in each year? Also the Army is strict of course its the Army, and it has many benefits as well.

haha, once on the journey up north, turned onto a highway, and landed right in the middle of an army convoy, in between like 5 heavily armoured APC's. they were kinda like vans, but apcs, and ferking slow and loud.
traveled with them for quite a while :|
Glad you know so much about me.
haha, nah i wasn't making a statement about you. it's more how rediculously specific they are.
when you go to a recruiting session, they really try and drill in random shit to see will remain after all the bullshit.
the reserves are worth looking at though.

Nah, only 2 intakes of Riflemen each year. Dunno how many are in each intake but it's not like the US where you can get in as soon as you sign up.
To get into a Rifleman position, you have to be top shit. To get into a support role, it's a fuckload easier. They actually want non-combat personel so they're a lot less strict on who they take in. I've done the most part of an Engineering degree and they would take me in a heartbeat, probably try and get me into an officer role too. Anyone who isn't in a combat role, they want.

Well yeah because only around 30% of the ADF is combat the rest is Aviation, Engineering, Business & Administration, Logistics, Hospitality & Support etc. But they also have the job "soldier" which I guess it just a little bit different to rifleman not really sure in details.

Yeah I've looked in to a lot of the military branches and courses like the GAP year and Reserves. I might give the reserves ago, seems like a interesting life style I guess you could call it. I guess here in Australia the ADF has a more of luxury of picking people instead of America or other country's etc.
[editline]8th March 2011[/editline]
The ADF Is like any other job, in certain ways. It has it's goods and bad's. Like benefits (health care, and know you have a job each day) but your arse is theirs for x amount of years, depending what you signed up as.
I was just thinking that it doesn't seem such a glorious role as it has played in the past history of Australia. I know on balance it has a lot of benefits for your life, but why would you waste the best years of your life doing that when you could be partying?

Because you get more life experience doing something you love, get payed for and get travel to some very unique places than any party can offer.
That's a lot of what I was thinking. If I did my degree in Canberra and went in as an officer, I was there until I was about 32 paying it off. Wouldn't be a bad life but it's a fucking long time. Lost chances though, I would've gotten kicked out for not trying anyway.
