contamination isn't an issue, why would they be put to more scrutiny than people coming here through airports from the same countries? that makes no sense. We don't need more detention centers, we need none. If you have the balls to run through war zones and several countries then come here by a shitty boat I think you deserve to be here more than me.
Ah, yeah, we do actually need detention centres. It's not just as simple as "getting off the boat" - aside from that, we need to screen people who come in to see who deserves our help, and doesn't.
You are a failure as a teenager, and as an Australian. I know you came from a wanky school and all but even the kids I know at the most elite private schools have heard of and drink goon. Maybe you're too nerdy or something? Goons isn't just cheap alcohol, its like a running joke and big part of being a poor desperate to get pissed teenager.
Only people I can think of who scull cheap wine from a bag are complete drop-kicks. It's not no-true-scotsman "AW YEAH AUSSIE PRIDE MAAAAATE", it's just ridiculous.
Anyone get that bogans hang around train stations?
Anyone get that bogans hang around train stations?
This.
This x a million.
Man, I was robbed twice. And I used to catch the train to school every morning.
Apparently, parts of my suburb is bogan.
Not all of it?
Don't know how that works.
And we get the Post-code bandits. Boys who graffiti the postcode of their suburb in other suburbs.
It's hilarious.
Anyone get that bogans hang around train stations?
Hardly ever use the train. When i do, i only see business types heading to Sydney for work and shit.

You're not catching the right train and Mizzy that must seriously suck

You don't need to put people in detention to screen them, you can put them in nicer places inside Australia like they do with the child refugees. The whole offshore processing is what I was really aiming at, its a ridiculous waste of money.
You're not catching the right train and Mizzy that must seriously suck
Isnt Cityrail prime target for bogans? Would explain the graffiti.
dr funk if you don't know people who drink from goon bags that you don't hate then i bet you don't drink at all.
Most people don't know about the conditions they're coming from.
Instead, they're scared of how they're taxes are going towards helping them.
They're not "Boat people", which carries a whole other connotation which distracts away from the fact that they're Asylum seekers.
You know.
SEEKING ASYLUM.
I don't see why it's such a big deal, a lot of other countries receive way more than Australia does.
Australia has a surplus of space so what's the problem here?
And if the government is scared of contamination, why not set up a *better quarantine system for the Asylum Seekers instead of pumping more money into border protection to tow these people away.
Also, "Reserve the right to speak down to them", yeah, you're so tough, being superior to people who have nothing.
Way to go, tough boy.
*edit.
I don't hate them because they come from nothing, I know that.
But immune system is already fucked (IGa deficiency) (yes I know IGA is a store), and I seriously don't want any chance because I will get fucked over. Call me over protective, but I already have a 12 month cold.
public transport is always where youths are it only makes sense

I used to walk to the train station too.
They only took my wallet the first time then my iPod and wallet the second time.

Oh, my god.
So you'd want hundreds of people to return to war, poverty and chaos just because you don't want to get sick?
Please. This is Australia. If there's an epidemic, the government will fund vaccines.
H1N1 for example.
You're not protective, you're paranoid and selfish.
Edit; Automerge, damn you.

QR train stations are always packed with 1 thong bogans, but when you catch it the quiet carriages policy sticks on and if you're caught you get fined for being noisy.
Muzzas are fucking hilarious.
Also Melburnians are so ungrateful when it comes to public transport. Trains may get delayed a shitload lately but overall the public transport here is incredible (can you say "largest tram network in the world"?)

Ah. I dont know anything bout QR.
This is my station:

Boringest station on the line.
My British teacher describes Oyster Cards as, "like a Myki, but they work".
So true. Have to hold the fucking thing there for ages for it to validate.

2. Bogan free
3. FUCKING CLEAN
Cheating the line? that's hardly the definition of asylum
Gaining asylum through the government vs hopping on the boats.

I go to a middle-to-lower class boys' school, so I know all sorts. Nothing like a good party, but you don't need to scull shitty wine until you throw up to have fun.
Besides, where else do you put people for temporary processing? Unless a specific detention centre is worse than hell, "adequacy" is good enough - put taxpayer money into more important things than improving already-adequate centres.
That's the cleanest looking station I've ever seen in my life.
Its pretty nice, but the parking lot is a huge pile of shit.
Pretty much all gravel, with log dividers. Buses use that shit, and rattle so badly they almost collapse.
Then again, our buses are literally piles of shit. Probably 100 years old when they were first in service.

Would you say that if you'd experienced the definition of "adequate" in this context personally?
Gaining asylum through the government vs hopping on the boats.
Like I said, hopping on the boats is a valid way to get asylum and is more legal than the planes. You have no idea what is going on in these countries do you? To get on a plane you need a passport, ect and these materials are often be taken from the people by the government. To apply for asylum while your in the country our embassy needs to contact theirs, so say if someone from iran was trying to move here they might be killed because of our need to contact their government before they can come. Then theres the assuming the people can afford the hundreds for plane tickets in third world countries. There is no law against them arriving here to be processed by boat. You are nothing more than completely ignorant of the truth and brainwashed by political attack adverts. Please stop trying to reassert these points and accept these people have a right to be here and treated like humans because we can continually shoot down each and everyone one of these points. I'm pretty certain by now that you are just a racist trying to find any excuse to keep blacks out of this country, which was founded BY BOAT PEOPLE.
wow you have a cold and think that these people will bring more diseases than normal tourists because why? you have no proof just reasoning that they must be dirty people its complete shit
I don't want them to be sent back. I am for giving them better centers when they are caught.
I am for putting money into getting the people who do it legally in quicker.
It's not racism, its no respect for people who want to cheat the people who go through and do it properly.
Instead of more border protection, lets build a big center to put them in and treat them right while they are processed, which gives people a better option than sitting in a crowded boat.
And my problem is more than a cold. That's just a current thing. I'm fucked if I get the flu.
Can we leave it at that, we won't get anywhere.

No the point is that the detention centers should be less not jails and more like holding facilities. People are in these places for months and if they are genuine refugees I think they should get a bit of comfort while there. Also the concept of offshore detention centers of those in other countries is terrible because it increases costs tenfold all because of political spin. Its a fucking non issue, we should be focused on the 50'000~ british visa overstayers not the few thousand boat people who are largely legitimate.
Buses are better IMO

I obviously can't leave it at that because you keep ignoring the fact that there is nobody 'cheating' by coming here, and there has never been a virus outbreak by them or any reason why they would be more likely than thousands of plane passengers to carry diseases just because their boats are shitty. It wasn't boat people who brought in swine flu. Its good to know that you're for treating people humanely though.
I can't vote on who can get in on planes and better screening though.
I'm sure I'm not the only one with an immune system problem, people with Aids have it much worse.
Now please, lets leave it.
