Did I come in at a bad time? I'm Asian and in Australia. I sorta doubt some of the people here who claim to be racist are actually racist. I've seen a trend latley that apparently being racist is supposed to be cool. I go to TAFE with this guy who says he's racist, but we're friends, he's also friends with other asians and other races, but he says he's racist with a smile on his face, like he's super awesome for saying it. Maybe it's just me, but I'm seeing alot of people claiming to be racist but show zero signs of it while showing many signs showing the complete opposite. By the way, what's this? A bottle of Aloe water next to me with Asian writing on it ... come get me!

I'm not "racist" in the sense that I think its terrible to judge anyone based on some small difference in appearance. However I have no problem judging people for awful behavoir, and if they are part of a racial group, and insist on identifying themselves as such as well, then the deserve every bit of "racism" they get. I suspect a lot of people are the same, only the really biggoted rednecks judge people just because their skin is darker or their eyes are shaped slightly different.
Whats wrong with Asians? If there was any group to be racist against surely it would have to be the middle eastern community, most of the young ones only seem to aspire to being racist, violent, sexist thugs.
Shut the fuck up you have no idea what most of the young middle eastern community are aspiring to be. You don't know them and don't know a large enough amount to make such a ridiculous claim. I'm pretty sure lots of the tiny tiny middle eastern community are religious and there isn't higher violence incarceration rates between them. It may be possible that there is some racism floating around in certain minorities but usually the second generations will eradicate it. Who gives a fuck anyway, you can't be racist against white people. The worst thing that can happen from this kind non violent of racism is... nothing? Sexism in the Muslim religion is an entirely different thing, but women can choose not to be Muslim if they want so its up to them. Just like I could say there are a lot of Greeks in Port Kembla. Or a lot of South Africans in my area. I, as a student, can affirm, that this section of society, is predominately this, because i know some who are. Race does not give someone immunity from being an asshole. If someone is asian and a cunt, it's not racist to say they are a cunt, just realistic. Even if they aren't a cunt by their standards, they can still be a cunt to us. A lot of Australians who say they are racist just hate the idea of being overrun by asians which is a fear more common than you would believe. They have no problem with actual asian people on an individual level for the most part.

Now are you fucking joking me or did you just side with Pauline Hansen. No its not a legitimate fear, we are not 'IN DANGER OF BEING SWAMPED BY ASIANS!!!!' Hell even if we were, IT IS RACIST to be weary of that just because they are Asians.
Na I take back my previous statement Lebs and asians are great for Australia, they make playing spot the aussie challenging
Yes you can't be an Australian unless you're white right? fuckhead
Na I take back my previous statement Lebs and asians are great for Australia, they make playing spot the aussie challenging
Man, I read that in the strongest Aussie accent possible for some reason.

Anyone in the same situation regardless of race would feel the same. Australia is still relatively high when it comes to white-nonwhite ratio so I agree that it isn't even a problem. If we were though, it is a concern most parents share that your childrens culture will be significantly different from yours and international influences are an obvious reason for this. Not racist, just proud of your own stuff.

That's if they haven't already started beating some poor sap senseless for looking at them "funny" (ie glancing at them before averting their eyes out of fear). Usually while going on about how gangsta they are while 20 of them beat up one guy. Must be my imagination that EVERY time I have been at a party and a group of "lebs" have turned up they have started fights. Must be my imagination that the 3 different teams I have come accross playing soccer that have been teams made up of "lebs" have seemingly been more suited to playing rugby, and all 3 tried to start fights on the pitch, with one succeeding. Must be my imagination that most of the girls I know are scared of them, one girl has to have all her doors locked driving in the city having had them open her doors and get into her car one time. Now, yes, I have probably had bad experiences, but I live in a rich area, I can't imagine how much worse it is in the poorer areas of the city. My problem isn't even that this stuff happens, stupid violent people exist after all. It really does get to me that almost always these people are "proud" of their Lebanese/"persian" heritage and seem to think behaving like violent tribesmen is manly and part of this heritage.

What they are doing is entirely western culture there, they're in clubs its not Lebanon tradition. Look at what happened in cronulla, the white guys did the same shit, but worse. Also I guarantee that these guys you see in clubs aren't a large segment of their community.
they make playing spot the aussie challenging
Pull your head in, mate. Aussies come from all walks of life & heritage, not just British. I am a "white" Australian, and people with attitudes like yours shame me to no end. Also Mizzy, nice DA gallery. Just wanted to let you know the building in syd with the monkey statues no longer operates as a bank, but is a pub called "3 Wise Monkeys" which has been operating since 2000. good pub too btw.

I've been clubbing before (though I hate it) and there are so many douchebags out in the city on Friday and Saturday nights. Drunken assholes in groups of 10 thinking they're macho. Doesn't matter what their heritage is, I've seen Middle Easterners, Caucasians, Asians, Islanders all act the same on those two nights. I have a feeling the attitude is: "I'm going to a night club just like in the movies! With 10 other people, kinda like a gang! I'm a tough guy now!" Hence, douchebaggery.

I would disagree that its "western" culture, most of the behavoir seems to be pretty much directly influenced by the bad aspects of the African American gang culture. In all seriousness though its getting to the point it just saddens me, we were playing a team just the other week, every team so far have been good sports, friendly guys having a chat etc. The one team in the comp that is made up of people with middle eastern heritage just happens once again to be total assholes, taking every opportunity to talk shit about us, being very physical, arguing with the ref when they get pulled up and just generally having a violent demeanor. BTW, you do realise after cronulla rampaging groups of them went on a massive vandalization spree with beatings a lot worse than anything that happened during the "riots".

Especially at Darling Harbour at nights. While I don't mind going out for a drink with my mates, often I find that it's the pretentious atmosphere at clubs that makes me feel kind of uncomfortable. Kinda makes it worse when the bad eggs of any community feel it's necessary to make their presence known by jeering and yelling at every second person.
You just said they took on gangsta and the African American gang culture mentality, that is a product of commercial capitalist western culture. Every black person feels the pressures to conform to that idealized view of black people by western society. I guarantee that in 1940s Lebanon they weren't being G's. [editline]28th October 2010[/editline] aka white peoples fault
Now I am on the outside of this foreigner argument bullshit, I can see how stupid it is. Why can't we do away with religion and have everyone have the same eyes and skin colour and whatever else. Then there would be almost no war and racism. That said, racists are like furries. The ones who don't brag and spew shot everywhere are fine by me. [editline]28th October 2010[/editline] But really, stop all the racism BS.
I guarantee that in 1940s Lebanon they weren't being G's. Religion is the back-bone for all our prejudices.
lol who doesn't shit on Palestine

[editline]28th October 2010[/editline] aka white peoples fault
The ridiculous commercialization is indeed not their fault. However whatever the case is there is still no reason to pussy foot around the fact that behavior like that is detrimental to society. I dont and never will judge someone on their appearance or where they are from, I feel perfectly fine however with judging people based on poor behavoir, and if the majority of people who proudly associate themselves with a group display poor behavoir then yes, I will tend to judge the group. Anyhow, I guess all I am trying to say is me and a lot of people I know don't dislike that community for no reason. Most people I know at least in Sydney think of Lebanese when they think of gang beatings.
Most people I know at least in Sydney think of Lebanese when they think of gang beatings.
I get where you're coming from, but to suggest gang bashing's & rapes are predominantly caused by Lebanese isn't right. I lived in Sydney for 5 years working in the pub/nightclub scene & I have seen a lot of shit caused by a lot of different ethnic groups, not just the lebs. Even white people. The most shocking for me was NYE 06 when a "white" guy got out of his car and started checking out another parked car, looking in the tinted windows trying to see what the interior looked like, not knowing a group of "middle eastern" men were sitting inside who weren't too happy that their car was being looked in, got out of the car and started bashing the "white" guy, while the other couple of "middle eastern" guys went to his car, slapped around his girlfriend, tore off the top of her dress licked her breasts and felt her up - all the while a policeman was standing on the next corner, with his back turned unable to hear the cries of help because of all the noise and commotion. But Lebanese groups can't take all the credit for thuggish behavior. My girlfriend & I were mugged on the train by 4 big muscly white guys, who were going up and down the train hassling everybody. They held me down, went through my pockets and slapped me one. Of course there was nothing I could do by myself, and didn't want to retaliate for fear of what they might do to my girlfriend, and of course being Sydney nobody on the train would help. I'm not a small person, but taking on 4 guys by myself is just stupid. There are plenty of other stories I could recall, all of which encompass different groups of race, Lebanese being just one of them. If all the bad stories you hear include middle eastern people, it can become too easy to believe that they are the only culprits, and nobody else.

Bah, rest of Australia, no fun.
I always hear about how 'wild' Australia is and try not to believe it, thinking that's just stereotyping Then I'm talking to my Australian friend via Xfire and ask why isn't he in school, he replies "didnt go, sandstorm"
