no civilian should ever own a gun unless you specifically need it for a) professional sport or b) actual farming purposes

Baseless assertion but ok. With that attitude I'm sure you'd fit in in the Firearms thread.
I need a gun so I can hunt cute furry creatures so I can have a cute furry ushanka and a nice meal
It's this mentality that has made it very hard to acquire any firearms.
No it's the mentality that you want to shoot someone with a firearm. Just wanting a gun, for whatever purpose, is not in itself a problem.
I'm a lever-action and revolver man myself. probs cause I love westerns and clint eastwood
Oh don't get me wrong they're really cool too.
There's just something I love about modern handguns, I don't know, the image provided pop culture maybe?
I just think they're great, a friend of mine has one, and once he let me hold it (not loaded of course)
Slid in an empty clip, pulled the top half back and let it crash back into place
I felt like a man :v:

Well up yours too buddy, sorry for thinking they're cool :(
I love revolvers, in every game I always use them even if they're shit.

Protect yourself?
Protect yourself?
yeah lmao im gonna walk around with a gun for protection as if
and a gun in the home is more likely to kill a family member than an intruder
Goddamit Melbourne weather is so fucked up. Yesterday I went to the beach. Today is rained all day.

http://gunfacts.info/pdfs/gun-facts/5.1/gun-facts-5.1-screen.pdf
Of the 43 deaths reported in this flawed study, 37 (86%) were suicides. Other deaths involved criminal activity between the family members (drug deals gone bad).
Of the remaining deaths, the deceased family members include felons, drug dealers, violent spouses committing assault, and other criminals.
Only 0.1% (1 in a thousand) of the defensive uses of guns results in the death of the predator. This means you are much more likely to prevent a crime without bloodshed than hurt a family member.
It's sourced and everything.
Yeah if you're a trigger happy idiot sure, but any normal person would call out first and try and identify the "intruder".
Stay out of it you, there's no need to bring your bullshit logic in when there's actual facts available.

Nah man just shoot everything that moves in the back of the head, assess damage later, that's the way it's done.
Among all the controversy I bet we can all agree on this
Guns are cool
not when your getting killed
Vegemite was used as Axel greece for the guns in WW2
Flooding like a bitch just 1 hour away
guns are fun 2 shoot
It's a shame Australia's gun laws are so Fascist, in the US handguns are common as shit and easy to obtain. Heard some shit about we have to have a safe either above 150kg or bolted to the frame of the house to store the weapon. Pistols, ammunition and the bolts must be stored separately. If you use it for competition shooting, you must compete in several competitions a month. It's an absolute pain in the ass.
Go on your own property, get a bolt-action rifle, shoot rabbits like all hell, not give a fuck.
it really isn't a shame actually.
most people don't know why the gun laws are so facist here, a few turning events resulted in a massive gun amnesty
Port Arthur Massacre - 35 people killed with an AR-10
Hoddle St Massacre - 9 Killed, 21 more injured with numerous semi automatic weapons
Queen St Massacre (this is as close to "postal" as the term comes)
(these are nothing if you count all the gun related deaths in the Americas)
we changed laws to make it harder for smaller pistols with certain barrel lengths to be restricted to make them harder to conceal, and made laws to increase security of gun storage
guns have no place in urban areas whatsoever, I grew up on a farm around guns, which were owned for sport and fox hunting (you used to get 5 bucks a fox tail when the bounty was on) so I don't think I'm biased.
I support the laws, they stop kids finding daddy's shotgun and taking their head off, and make guns harder to obtain for your average joe.
I've never shot a gun :(
Don't think I will for a long time, damn AVO.
Flood warning in my area, 20 mins away is getting 100mil rain, and the floods in the north are moving into an overflowing dam, then into the city.
fuck

Guns are incredibly fun, 270 is the best round I've shot, even if its not the biggest
WMG blocked Australia's National Anthem in my country, how lovely.

I walk past the site of that nearly every day. I also see the guy's mother often as well, it's so sad because she seems like a nice lady.
Good, I hate it
Advance Australia Fair has always been shit, never stirred any patriotism and if anything, just made me hate the stupid bastards who run the country. Waltzing Matilda, while quite unconventional, is far better at it. Listen to Advance Australia fair, it's shit and boring. Listen to Waltzing Matilda, fuck yeah Australia.
Also the lyrics would fuck with the heads of anyone who translated it into their language. Instead of some random hymn about how great out country is, it's some outlaw stealing a sheep and then committing suicide.
The Aunty Jack theme makes me feel more patriotic about this country than the national anthem.

Waltzing Matilda should never be the national anthem, no matter how good it is. It doesn't even sound like an anthem.
Waltzing Matilda should never be the national anthem, no matter how good it is. It doesn't even sound like an anthem.
Who gives a shit if it sounds like a national anthem. There's no set form it has to follow, most of the current ones are just remnants from 19th century anthems which they have been too proud of to change. No-one is proud of the Australian national anthem, it sucks. Why not change it to something more patriotic and the prime candidate is Waltzing Matilda.
A song about a suicidal thief with a sheep is not something that describes our country at all, even if the current anthem sucks
For Those About To Rock should be our national anthem
STAND UP AND BE COUNTED, FOR WHAT YOU ARE ABOUT TO RECEIVE!
The United Kingdom has God save the Queen as their national Anthem. Star Spangled Banned is a war Hymn that has almost nothing to do with the people. The French national anthem almost promotes overthrowing it's own government.
The Australian national anthem is a massive wank. Might as well make something that identifies more with the public than just spewing how great we are. Any actual Australian feels weird singing Advance Australia fair, Waltzing Matilda is far closer to us in an artistic sense.
Therefore we should have AC/DC as the template for our national anthem.
Why? It's awesome
