Tom and Jerry and Loony Tunes is where it's at
I miss when cartoons were on every single morning, and they'd always be close to being over when the infamous BOZO SHOW came on. I always wanted to play the grand prize game. mother fucking ping pong balls. I just wanted to win all those damn toys.
You don't like anime, we get it.
it's so fucking pretentious, seriously. that's mostly universal for all anime in general. i still like to watch it, it just gets really fucking stupid for me sometimes.
Cartoons are more Action and comedy oriented, anime is more shit oriented. Any cartoon that has even the tiniest sliver of airtime looks better than this crap. The worst thing is, Lucky Star or whatever it's called is inexplicably watched by people my age, so perhaps it's a bad example. My point about bashing the art style still stands, however.
Dude, you realize that Lucky Star is treated about the same as InuYasha by most serious anime fans? i.e. we realized it's shit and moved on after the second episode All anime means is that it's from Japan. (Links lead to an example of each. Gankustuou looks a lot better/creepier in motion, I suggest looking it up on Youtube instead of going by the pic.)
mostly everything on adult swim is pretty good.
Speaking from complete lack of knowledge, but wouldn't the silly childish ones be for children? :downs:
Lucky Star is actually targeted to the 18-35 age range in Japan. Which makes it even more fucking horrendous. And sure, I'll play that game with you. Hajime no Ippo, G Gundam, and the aforementioned Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann (dead serious) were all targeted towards the younger set in Japan, and all three use a non-obnoxious art style. (Younger set meaning 5-18, not younger set as in <5.)

Why did Adult Swim took it off air.
Not every kid of this generation enjoys these shows. I'm 14, and I resent the stuff they put on TV now.
Doug killed cartoons.
Doug was the shit what are you taking about.
TV was one of the great things of my childhood. Id hate TV if I was a young now as I was back then. Everything is now geared toward girls. Even though there is alot of advertising for both sexes, the whole disney thing is starting to piss me off. The cartoons like Hey Arnold/Johny Bravo/Dexter's lab and all that good shit, back in the day owns anything new on TV today.
*Ahem* I see Tom and Jerry mentioned but who can forget this duo? Looney tunes are cartoons that people of all ages can enjoy. Chuck Jones, Tex Avery and others continue to be the masters of cartoons in both quality and humor.
i liked dragonball z when it was on toonami. flapjack is pretty neat, it can be very creepy which i like in a cartoon. they used to have a block dedicated to tom and jerry but they cut that on cartoon network. dexter's lab, powerpuff girls, and samurai jack i always liked. (even though ppg was "for girls" i still thought it was a good show) pokemon in the beginning. uh. spongebob has some gems, chocolate with nuts is a great example, i think. that's about it i think chowder sucks though i must admit it has its moments. edd ed and eddy. hm. i never really atched much of that show because my mother always thought they were cussing. same with hey arnold, because helga would say, "shut up." i was always alienated by catdog. also: ^ my childhood.
I find pokemon is unbareable anymore as he(ash) has such a scratchy voice and sounds generally like a pedophile so i feel deeply sorry for pikichu
Why did Adult Swim took it off air.
They didn't. I was on at like 2 in the mourning yesterday.
Never been a cartoon kinda guy We had some hilarious sitcoms here. The kind of sitcoms where there's no real story and everything goes back to normal after every episode
Wabbit season!
The only good shows nowadays are Fairly odd Parents and some other shit.. can't really remember what's the name of it. So, yeah I'm agreeing.
No, this is just nostalgia on your part. Of course what you grew up with will be "better" for you than the dribble they have now.
I think that this is true to a certain extent, but you have to recognize that the style of cartooning and indeed in the production of childrens' shows has changed. Look and Rocko's Modern Life and then look at a show like Chowder, or compare Pete and Pete to Hannah Montana. Stylistically they're very different. I actually really like Flapjack because it reminds me a lot of some shows I grew up with.
Dude, you realize that Lucky Star is treated about the same as InuYasha by most serious anime fans? i.e. we realized it's shit and moved on after the second episode
I thought lucky star was decent
Rocko's Modern Life Fucking yesssssssssssss
Hell yea. Also
Biker mice from mars!
Agree.
Recently, Spongebob has sort of gone away from the "Childish bullshit" and gone back to the funny and intellectual jokes. Makes my heart proud.
Recently, Spongebob has sort of gone away from the "Childish bullshit" and gone back to the funny and intellectual jokes. I hate how they killed classic cartoons in 2007 Total drama island and 6teen are Shit
I thought lucky star was decent
I'm going by the fact that on /a/, OT, and most fansubbers' IRC channels, I hear people complaining that the show sucked shit because it tried WAY too hard to appease the "YAY LESIBANZ!!!!! KONA X KAGA FOREVER <3" crowd.
ITT people who don't realize Spongebob Squarepants has been rapidly declining in quality for years now. Also I'm surprised nobody's mentioned the increasing number of flash animation cartoons. Those things look awful.
Also I'm surprised nobody's mentioned the increasing number of flash animation cartoons.
It's 2009.
ITT people who don't realize Spongebob Squarepants has been rapidly declining in quality for years now.
Have you been watching the newer ones? I just said they went back to the jokes that are actually intelligent and funny.
