Not every kid of this generation enjoys these shows. I'm 14, and I resent the stuff they put on TV now.
TV was one of the great things of my childhood. Id hate TV if I was a young now as I was back then. Everything is now geared toward girls. Even though there is alot of advertising for both sexes, the whole disney thing is starting to piss me off. The cartoons like Hey Arnold/Johny Bravo/Dexter's lab and all that good shit, back in the day owns anything new on TV today.

i liked dragonball z when it was on toonami.
flapjack is pretty neat, it can be very creepy which i like in a cartoon.
they used to have a block dedicated to tom and jerry but they cut that on cartoon network.
dexter's lab, powerpuff girls, and samurai jack i always liked. (even though ppg was "for girls" i still thought it was a good show)
pokemon in the beginning.

spongebob has some gems, chocolate with nuts is a great example, i think.

I think that this is true to a certain extent, but you have to recognize that the style of cartooning and indeed in the production of childrens' shows has changed. Look and Rocko's Modern Life and then look at a show like Chowder, or compare Pete and Pete to Hannah Montana. Stylistically they're very different. I actually really like Flapjack because it reminds me a lot of some shows I grew up with.
