Michael Bay explosions are shit.
Yeah that was really realistic.
Lol. That sucked. Poor CG plane, poor cg flames and poor CG physics and explosion. And the rescuers are unrealistically dickheads to someone who's trying to help. Honestly the fucking plane crash in Dead Air is more convincing than that.
(Did they even look in the right direction when they panicked? I think they didn't.)
Here's realistic for you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LjRVC2-SP9g
And also of electrical wires snapping 'cause that was total bullshit as well:

for the record, I posted this because I can't find the actual death star explosion anywhere (the one with the shockwave-ring). anyone got a link?

because I'm sure you're an expert in how planes crash
it looked plenty realistic to me :colbert:
I'm well versed in how reality looks. And more specifically how it certainly doesn't look. Perhaps you have less experience in this field?
Who cares about realism? Realism often makes things less cooler and less fun to watch.

Michael Bay-mentioned before

I kinda liked the explosion in pineapple express

What the shit are you talking about? The best effects are the ones that leave you with your jaw denting the floor, boggling your mind and leaving you with no question in your mind: It happened. It really happened. And they filmed it.
Realistic effects make everything a billion times cooler and 500% more fun to watch. Sure there's license to be taken, the helicopter crash in the Matrix would probably not have looked as cool without the obviously unrealistic bendy glass, but it really looked like bendy glass, so fuck if it could actually have happened in that situation, it looks like it could. Because it looks real.
Which reminds me, that thing needs to be on here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ntY_xowZGT8&#t=2m0s

Who cares about that? It's a facepunch post.

Honestly I don't get people who go all apologetic like that. "It's just a movie, it doesn't matter if it's crap." "It's supposed to look like crap! So it's okay that it looks like crap!" "Effects don't have to be realistic!"
And then after making all these concessions that it isn't good they go right ahead and claim that it looks perfectly realistic anyway. Conceding that realism does in fact matter.
Fun fact: Out of the two of us, you are the one who thinks CGI looks real here.
By the way, did you see the way he put his hands into the flames for a while and nothing happened, the flames didn't even lick around him like he was actually there? Yeah that looked sooo cool man. Fuck realism.
Or what about that time when the rescuers were panicking from the plane, looking into the sky, and then it actually came from the complete opposite direction? Yeah that looked soo cool too. Fuck realism.
And let's not forget how epic it was when you could see that the plane was breaking up into small polygonal pieces, and they jumped all over the place like there was no gravity or air resistance? That looked soo cool too man. Fuck realism.
And oh boy I almost came when the smoke didn't really look like smoke but more rising blobs of grey shit right? That looked soo cool. Fuck realism.
Or that time when that debris fragment flew into the camera with motion blur that didn't match the shot and didn't actually hit the camera, heck I don't think nicholas cage ever noticed that it flew right past his face and could have killed him. That was really really cool. Fuck realism.
I also kinda liked that the plane had wrong shading that looked like computer graphics instead of a plane right? I just love it when I know an element on the screen isn't real simply from the way it looks. Fuck realism.
And those black stick figures apparantly poorly animated in pivot who were burning right? I loved that. Fuck realism. I hate it when people look like people. (Or act like it, I don't think people just fall over like a ragdoll after burning for three seconds, this isn't a video game jesus.)

i disregarded that and regarded you as a faggot
has it occurred to you if that all games, movies and the like were realistic, they wouldn't be nearly as fun as they were unrealistic
who would you rather like: some invulnerable robot that can take everything that's thrown at it and cause so much destruction and shit or some robot that gets shot and beeps and boops and dies and that's it
yea the knowing explosion was pretty bad
