I need to start this again but it rains to much and i don't exactly have grip on my shoes.
There's a difference? I just thought Parkour was a nicer name for Free-running...
They are two diffrent thing's Parkour is getting someplace to A - B in the shortest time possible and no "tricks" While free running is more tricky that's when you see people doing stuff like backflips front flips and all that, it's not useful in parkour because it slows you down.
Muscles mean shit all in Parkour to be honest, it's all about agility
Muscles are important though become incresingly less necessary(BUT STILL NEEDED) when you have good technique and agility.

Pros : Good body, if you do it for 5 years. Cons: Destroyed knee and ankle when you're 35, possibility do die, break a leg, smash your face, getting ridiculed.
Pros : Good body, if you do it for 5 years. Cons: Destroyed knee and ankle when you're 35, possibility do die, break a leg, smash your face, getting ridiculed.
Destroyed knee and ankle only if you don't know how to land or roll properly.
protip start small

There's no point learning it if you'll take the same tricks, and routes each day. You'll just get bored, and fade back to being a computer nerd again.
I've never been fitter than I was a few years ago when I done Parkour... it takes a loooonnng time to get into it and build up the initial strength, but after that you'll be amazed at the shit your body can do. You need have some balls to, some of the shit is really scary. They make it look easy as shit but monkey vaulting a rail is terrifying the first time. You just have to suck it up and go for it, chances are you'll land it.

Why am I not surprised he's banned?
Well I do run parkour unlike some of the armchair experts that are commenting but In all honesty it isnt about pure strenght its about Strenght to Weight ratio. You can be extremely strong but cant do a pull up because of all the muscle weight on yourself. Parkour is mostly about core strenght. Work on this and it will improve your Balance, Ability to control your own weight, A good strong chest/stomach (maybe even abs), and agility.
I'd start with gymnastics , less risk of doing stupid things like breaking your neck and you learn to control your muscles that way.
It actually is really good sport, try running track for a while, set up some boxes, or chairs, try to jump them, :siren:but don't kill yourself!:siren:
As far as I got it, the three most important parts about parkour is: 1. Muscles, mostly arms. Legs are recommended.
No. Parkour consists mostly of climbing and jumping movements. As such, you need to have a strong back and strong legs. Doing dumbbell curls all day isn't going to help shit with climbing. Get used to performing wide grip pullups - this will be the most parkour specific exercise you will find.
Is Parkour still trendy?
Is Parkour still trendy?
i don't think it ever was, it was just something to make nerds feel cool i guess
i don't think it ever was, it was just something to make nerds feel cool i guess
It seems like every single person on the internet likes to go, "Yeah, I've done some Parkour. What of it?" :smugdog:
Ezio does it. He's cool?
-snip-
Or climbing, that's also pretty good preparation and it strengthens your whole body. Climbing and gymnastics, perfect combination to get started with parkour
Parkour was cool in like 1999. Anyone who does it now looks like a total tool. If you want to do it for yourself that's fine, but it is like anti-mojo when it comes to chicks. Big turn off.
lol no. You should take some aikido lessons if you want to learn how to roll properly. After 1 term you will know how to roll perfectly without any risk of damaging your back or neck whatsoever. If you don't know a place that trains out aikido I have no clue what could help you roll properly. I went there for 2 terms before it got boring. Of course you'll also need to be flexible, Taekwondo is perfect for increasing your felxibility and balance, and is very useful if you're going to do parkour. You can't expect to just go out and be able to do whatever you want, and if you fit the description, you could end up seriously hurting yourself. If you really wanna do parkour, you should train for a year. If you give up, parkour was never for you anyway
There are other sports that require/where you can learn good rolling, Judo or yiu-yitsu for example.
