To me, Parkour tricks look a bit tacky
I'd rather do free-running
But that's just me I guess
i think you're getting messed up
you don't do tricks in parkour, there are certain techniques used widely to get over certain obstacles but that's about it. parkour
free-running/tricking are the ones with trick
parkour = point A to B
free runnin/tricking = point a to b and showing off on the way (flips n shit)

I've seen that guy before.
Oh and he's gay.
Obviously.
First thing you do is learn how to fall. I'm being serious here, because you're going to be doing it a lot and you don't want to kill yourself or break a bone. Try taking a martial arts class too, you can build some necessary muscle and learn how to fall there.
I read that as fail
I successfully made those palm-protections I talked about. Really comfy, now that I have it on.

Probably comfy, but you cant feel the texture of the surface.
Probably comfy, but you cant feel the texture of the surface.
At least the surface won't be so hard. :v:
I've never been fitter than I was a few years ago when I done Parkour... it takes a loooonnng time to get into it and build up the initial strength, but after that you'll be amazed at the shit your body can do. You need have some balls to, some of the shit is really scary. They make it look easy as shit but monkey vaulting a rail is terrifying the first time. You just have to suck it up and go for it, chances are you'll land it.
He lifted a 90 pound axe once and attempted to cut down a tree.
What a badass.
Despite the fact that none of you guys believe me, I'm actually probably the only person on FP who's married.
Unless you join a mixed-gender parkour group, going to the gym or joining an intramural sports team would be a way more social way of getting exercise and could potentially lead to slamming.
I'm the person in my parkour group that makes it mixed-gender, and none of us are interested in 'slamming' each other. :p
You guys look like fucking retards running around jumping on simple shit a 5 year old can do, especially in skateparks. It doesn't work like that. First off take some gymnastics classes and then try to be spider man.
So is parkour limited to urban areas? I live in one but I just feel for all those rural kids who are going to try doing front flips and twists over cows and hay bails.
If you're good you'll end up on youtube, if you're bad you'll end up on failblog.
I'm mostly a street rider with mtb, but I do parkour occasionally. Shit is fun. I can use all the leftover balls from streetridin with parkour.
If you're good you'll end up on youtube, if you're bad you'll end up on failblog.
If your aspirations are to end up on youtube, you might as well just sit down where you are and wait to die.
Good for you, enjoy losing half your assets in the divorce.
LOL ok.
No, people tend to have different priorities which are likely equally or more important to them than your priorities. It doesn't mean that something is wrong with them.
Nope. Human relationships are a priority to anyone who isn't a sociopath.

Unless you're fat, $20 says at least one person in the group wants to have sex with you.
You are indeed the smartest human being on FacePunch.
After Garry.
Also thanks for the advices. I have bookmarked that channel you gave me! :v:
How much does it hurt when you fall on your ass trying a move? parkour looks fun
I hate how there is always this one guy, who is all like "Oh guys listen to me and stop having fun."
Im starting parkour on tuesday next week, it is an offering from my gym. We will also do some XMA (Extrem Martial Arts).
LOL ok.
k.
It would seem you have taken what I said out of context or misunderstood (most likely on purpose, to try and reinforce an irrelevant point. Nice try, though!). Friendly/social 'human' relationships are not the same as romantic relationships, which is what we were just discussing.
That may be true, but it does not mean it's going to or has to happen.
The original topic is parkour, so let's continue on that.
So is parkour limited to urban areas? I live in one but I just feel for all those rural kids who are going to try doing front flips and twists over cows and hay bails.
Any training you do can be usefully applied to any type of terrain.
you only want to try parkour
because you saw mirror's edge
Parkour is awesome, I used to regularly do runs with my friends. We occasionally still do runs but it's getting more difficult due to the cold weather.
If you keep at it regularly it becomes a good source of exercise and will greatly benefit your coordination and balance.
I would recommend dragging someone else into it with you, as I find it becomes more fun with friends to do runs with.
As with most sports, expect to get injured while doing parkour. Especially when you're just starting out.
To conclude this post, if you're not afraid to get a bit hurt, ready to be devoted to it, and prepared to do a bit of physical work, I would recommend picking it up.
It's a hell of a lot of fun, but now isn't the best time to practice, seeing as it's December :v:
Strong arms aren't really that necessary if you have strong enough legs to compensate. As long as you can lift your own body weight you should be fine. When I started parkour I had relatively weak arms but I am the fastest runner and one of the best jumpers that I know.
But don't think this is me telling you it's easy. You will get tired and you will need to work a lot on your balance and especially on your stamina if you want to enjoy parkour as much as possible. You may think you've got great stamina, but running up walls and vaulting obstacles drains your energy much faster than just running.
Whist is.
Parkour was cool in like 1999.
Anyone who does it now looks like a total tool.
If you want to do it for yourself that's fine, but it is like anti-mojo when it comes to chicks.
Big turn off.
That's because most of the retarded teens who do it now just jump across some 1 and a half metre gap and say: "DUDE I'M SOO GOOOOD AT PARKOUR HELL YEAH!"
Yes. It'll improve your strength, stamina, agility, mental abilties and self-confidence.
And provided you don't make a foul-up, it looks kick ass.
This basically
Dungeons and Dragons is a good hobby if you don't have anything to do.

Mirror's Edge is Parkour on Crack.
A ton of crack.
And no, I've seen vids on YouTube.
So get out, and read the thread next time, fagget.
I am freakishly thin and weak but I can very easily pull myself onto a ledge
Hang with straight arms from a horizontal pole. Now pull yourself up so that your shoulders are level with it.
I guarantee you cannot do this unless you have a strong upper body. You may think you can do it now, but if you tried it you would be surprised at how difficult it is.
