• Let's Learn to Handwrite Again!

My handwriting looks kind of like someone hacked at some mud with a rapier and let it dry that way, most of my lines are straight and things that should be curved tend to come out pointed and sharp. People often confuse my U's for V's. That said, my handwriting has looked pretty much exactly the same since some time during elementary school, no matter how much practice I got handwriting essays and the like.

[img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/MPR7B.jpg[/img_thumb] (noodler ahab pen, Higgins Eternal Black ink) I also own a Lamy Safari, Pilot Parallel in all sizes, a Pilot 78G, a Waterman Phileas and a bunch of dip pens that I rarely use. Fancy handwriting is fun. Plus you can do crosswriting with cursive, which was how people used to save on postage many years ago. Write your text normally, then rotate the paper 90 degrees and write over the original text. Both sets of text will still be readable unless you use a very thick pen. Practice is key. Find a pen that you like writing with and stick to that. It has to be smooth and flowing. I personally prefer fountain pens when writing in cursive but I can do it with a ballpoint too. My weapon of choice for ballpoint is a Parker Jotter with a Parker Quinkflow M. If you're new or wish to get into fountain pens (it's a slippery slope!), I suggest buying a Lamy Safari or Noodler Ahab. They cost about USD20-30. For ink, I use Higgins or Noodler's, but you can look up reviews for other inks to check their properties, e.g. water resistance, feathering, etc. You can buy both pens and ink off Amazon or through shops such as Goulet Pens. You can also buy pens off eBay (especially for vintage/hard to find) for cheap sometimes. For paper, some papers are really thin or pulpy-ish and the ink may feather or bleed through. Normal copy paper is good for practice though. Banditapple carnet (available on gouletpens) is FP-friendly and feels very nice. Rhodia pads are fairly popular with FP users. Again, if it's got a brand, someone's probably done a review on it. Google is your friend. This is also a good resource.
I thought you were reffering to writing in cursive. Wtf? Have people really forgot how to handwrite?
Though I'm embarrassed to admit it, I never learnt to write cursive, and didn't start writing in non-caps untill the others learnt cursive. As such, my handwriting is terrible, and I've been asked if I'm gonna be a doctor many times (and it's getting really annoying) It seems that the further I get in the school system, the more interested in it I get.
impossible to write with these without scratching across the paper like nails on chalkboard, and i really don't want to pay money for a lefty nib
i'm left handed and i write pretty much everything with fountain pens. and i don't have a fancy lefty nib - all of my pens are just on regular nibs. these are the three i use the most cross townsend - enamelled metal barrel with a gold/iridium medium nib. tend to only use this to write letters and notes when i'm at home. filled with diamine jet black lamy studio - fine nib filled with waterman blue black. this is pretty much my everyday pen. lamy al-star - fine nib filled with oxblood red. i use this at work because i'm not too bothered if it gets lost. and everyone can tell if i've done something because it's in blood red.

I never learned cursive. [T]http://i.imgur.com/5VM26.jpg[/T] A few notes: my lowercase k usually has a shorter tail. my punctuation, if you cant tell: ><!',;. ?-—"/+=@#$%&()[]_ I use the 1 with serifs if there would be ambiguity otherwise. or if I feel like I need to perfect it. I write with a hard, 4-fingered grip. I remember why I never learned cursive. In the 2nd grade or something like that, my desk had a little storage space under it. You couldn't see inside it, except from the side. I remember 3 relevant things: 1) I stuck worksheets I didn't want to do in there. 2) I didn't like to learn cursive. 3) That stack of papers probably got to an inch thick. If an inch doesn't sound like too much, go get a ruler and look at it.

My handwriting at the beginning of school is fucking shit, then it usually gets better and better.
I prefer ink though
My friend writes neat. I mean NEAT... Each time he would turn a paper in without his name, the teacher would hold it up, and go "Hey class, someone turned in their assignment without their name...does anyone recognize it? It looks *Looks at it carefully* It looks like a girls hand writing... Any girls recognized this?"
I'm left handed, and this is how I always write. Also sorry for the awful quality of photo and oversized image, I have no idea how to thumb stuff.
I need that paper where you had to trace the letters.
I just can't understand that type of capital G. and the one i currently have is pretty ugly too.

that capital G that lowercase f that Z that uppercase Q what the fuck is this moonspeak
I hate my writing:
Meh, readable enough. I also usually write with a big heavy Cross rollerball, which does the job.
I hate it when people write in cursive because unless the person it perfect at writing cursive I won't be able to read it correctly.
Fuck cursive. A month or so ago, my class had to take a test. All was well, until the teacher said something like, "Oh, for this (certain prompt), you have to write in cursive." That took everyone by surprise. Cue several minutes of everyone struggling to retrieve cursive from their memories.

[t]http://i.imgur.com/Sfji3.jpg[/t] I ended up writing lasy instead of lazy in cursive.
Learning to write Arabic as well. Can anyone that knows tell me how I'm doing? I still mess up every now and then, and sometimes my pen likes to act up. [t]http://i.imgur.com/av98I.jpg[/t]

[t]http://i.imgur.com/av98I.jpg[/t]
I don't know about Arabic, but when I was learning to write Japanese, I'm pretty sure my handwriting was god-awful. Hang on.

Far away from fancy..
My handwriting is some sick hybrid between normal and cursive, I just switch in and out when I'm writing, sometimes mid-word. And then when I get tired or lazy I just go full cursive and it's unreadable.
Amusingly, my Cyrillic cursive is better than my normal writing, probably because that's how I learned Russian.
i've always been told that i right like i'm left handed but with my right hand i aim down from a higher position than my letters rather than up from a lower position than my letters
Wait what. What do you mean there's different places to put the pen? HAVE I BEEN DRAWING LIKE A LEFT HANDER ALL MY LIFE?
