in america, wealth is generally inherited or manipulated. Not earned.
that's basically the entire premise of the stock market. Making money simply by manipulating money instead of working.
Ok, so your qualifying post could be boiled down to:
"Which party has more wealthy members."
Somehow, that lacks the insidiousness.
Bill Gates is a liberal.
There are incredibly wealthy people on both sides of the political aisle.

but only one party actively seeks to maintain the interests of those wealthy people at the expense of all else.
Last time I checked, less free market wouldn't benefit the super rich that much. So clearly the wealthy on that side have higher ideological goals rather than just filling their coffers.
Congratulations on being a decrepit loser, you're like that old lady in England who got a nurse fired because the nurse asked if it was okay if the nurse said a prayer. I'm not religious, but if someone cares enough to put their time into my wellbeing no matter it spiritual or medical, then fine its a genuinely nice thing to do.
So you think everything should be atheist and just throw tradition out the window?
People can do whatever the fuck they want, I just don't want them shoving their dumb-ass religion in my face. Any business that tries to use religion to get more customers is a business that I will immediately boycott.
Why would any business choose to alienate people like me who don't want to hear about religion (or who aren't Christian and don't want to hear about your dumb Messiah) when they can just as easily say "Happy Holidays" and make everybody except the craziest Jesus nuts happy?

Oh, I know, I just hate it when moronic conservatives say "HERP DERP LIBERALZ IS JUST POOR PPL WHO WANTS TO STEAL MAH MONIES!!!"
[editline]10:16PM[/editline]
American conservativism is basically the wealthy getting the poor to vote in their favor by echoing their religious, socially conservative beliefs, and, having gained their trust, convincing them that the lassiez-faire system that allows the superrich to stay superrich is in the best interest of everyone.
100% correct.
It's startling how so many Americans vote against their own best interests.
Man the more moderate definition is #1 for conservative and yet the asshole troll is #1 for liberal, the fuckheads at UD are a bunch of fuckheads.

damn kkkonservatives controlling UD are trying to put down liberalism
damn kkkonservatives controlling UD are trying to put down liberalism
well yeah
Conservatives have the lock down on internet trolling.
Check out the comments no the San Francisco Chronicle website for any vaguely political article.
Conservative trolls who clearly do not live in the area or even read the damn articles band together to up and down vote comments.
as you all know conscript loves a good discussion on socialism, chiming in...
I don't want to just have my piece of cake and thats it, I want to make it larger, in a Communist society I'm not allowed to and thus I have to just stay as it is.
false. the very premise is how much you receive according to how much you produce. i would say, making your cake bigger in socialism is easier then in capitalism, where your cake is appropriated by business owners as new value (profit)
Lenin's NEP worked primarily because it allowed for private ownership, proof that capitalism is a partially working system, better than Communism
Well, a couple things
1. The NEP allowed marginal privatization, major industries will still state owned
2. It failed to industrialize the USSR, the goal of bolshevik economists.
3. So the bolsheviks took matters into their own hands and centralized the economy under a bureaucratic apparatus, which, while effectively brought the USSR into the 20th century under plans detailed by Stalin, created an impossible barrier that prevented real socialism from being achieved. Workers were distanced from their state, and it was a bureaucratic dictatorship rather then a workers' state.
Furthermore if the NEP worked it wouldn't have proved capitalism is more successful regardless because at that point Russia would be entering the phase of society that creates the class of wage-workers, which hardly existed beforehand (they were a mere 15% of the population, most people were peasants) and which also is a prerequisite for socialist revolution. So really, all it would be proving, is the superiority of capitalism to a semi-feudal society, which Russia was at the time.
While I agree that the idea that everyone is equal is true, people should not be forced to have their private property taken from them and given to someone undeserving of what you worked for!
This is just flat out wrong. The point of socialism is to overthrow the class of people who exploit the class of people who create value, and create a society in which workers work for no one but themselves and produce for no one but themselves instead of for their appropriating bosses in capitalism. It has nothing to do with taking away your possessions and giving it society or whatever nonsense that's been born out of the cold war.
I should just let conscript post for now on. he does it better then me
both of them suck but i tend to hate conservatives more.

a comrade does not stand alone!

right?
Which was not my point, you should be attacking the republican party at its core fundamentals rather than what they are today (Because attacking what they are today is far too easy)
Because that's exactly what the republican party does.

Not the bottom one, that one is the reason I wrote the top definition.

Yes because any of the things enacted in the last 9 months have had time to seriously change the fucking tidal wave of awfulness from the last 8 years.
And of course even though less than 25% of the allocated stimulus money from the version of the bill that passed and was heavily gimped by Republicans has been spent, it is clearly logical to expect to see ALL of the benefit of it already.
/sarcasm

Indeed it was logical, because 6 days before the stimulus bill, we were told the economy was going to crash the day after the vote.
It's also more like <23%, I hear the other two percent got lost in Arizona's 86th congressional district.
I think we should stop putting Political discussions in GD if they keep on turning into this.
Also, is there a middle group? Like not Liberal but not Conservative?
The great problem with both sides is that they seem to feel they have the right to take the money that you earned from you, and put it into funding things you get no benefit from, ie, supporting incompetent people who refuse to go to work, funding public schools when the money could just as easily be used to pay for a private school.
I refuse to believe that by virtue of being less competent than me(or more in some case) someone has a right to use money earned through my work . Regardless of how admirable they may think their goal is.
Edit: No seriously, political correctness is so god damn annoying.
I agree.
I side with Democrats more often because they seem less awful than the alternative, but both parties are corrupt and worthless.
But your point about private school is idiotic.
Just because a school is private doesn't make it better.

Yes. They're called "people who think that being a moderate is some sort of glorious virtue."

Like the Fire department?
Forces? You don't even have to say the damn thing.
not really.
:words:
'Merica.
Like the Fire department?
Or the Police department.
Or the fucking public library.
I guess those horrible "socialist" programs should be gotten rid of.
Books aren't free!!! If people want to read books they should have to fucking buy them.
Water isn't free!!! If your house is on fire you should have to pay to have it put out.
Police aren't free!!! If your mom is getting raped by some hobo with AIDS she should have to pay to have someone come save her.

If you don't want to pay fucking taxes, then go to Somalia.
The whole point of a society is that it's a group of individual humans that band together to create a better life for each of them than they could create by themselves. If that gets your panties in a twist then go find an island to live on.
