If you don't have to then I wouldn't bother paying more than the car is worth to insure it. If you were to write it off then they would pay you the book value, normally around 2/3 of what you actually paid for it so you'll be losing money. If it's a cheap car and you do crash it then you haven't lost a fortune in insurance and as the car wasn't worth too much then you haven't lost a great deal there either. Comprehensive insurance is worth it if your car is of higher value and would cost you a lot to repair should the accident be your fault or if you were to hit gate when reversing for example.
the private party value for the car in "good" condition is $4,650 I'm assuming that the insurance company would calculate the car worth around that price
so like do people here actually think hellaflush looks good or what whats the deal with that
yeah sometimes on some cars. on honduhs no, except maybe s2ks. yes yes just about my limit crazy camber but still sick, i wouldn't do it tho
right i am going to stop this argument, we obviously have cultural differences. it might be accepted in america, but not here.
possibly, but if any form of light is aimed correctly I don't see what the issue is :v [editline]9th December 2010[/editline]
So how about thoose racks? Considering getting one, but I think my car is too new to pull the look off. Their service is second to none, great customer service and for your premium they'll throw in the lot, courtesy car, windscreen cover, 3rd party insurance driving anywhere in Europe, free legal cover. With regards to price, it depends what you're trying to insure... They might not be the cheapest if you're trying to insure a Vauxhall Corsa or any other average car but they were considerably cheaper (about 25%) than any others when I was insuring my car. They also do a lot of deals too, they were offering 15% off for Honda Prelude owners club members and do for many other owners clubs so keep your eyes out.[/editline] that sounds awesome Try that with at least £200 a month petrol thrown in too ;) To be fair, that price is no worse than a 17 year old new driver trying to insure their first car.
i've got $135 a month for the insurance on a 95 mustang gt
when do you think I should stop paying for comprehensive/collision? right now my car's private party value is like $4,800. if I was in Britain then I'd just ride my bicycle, get a scooter, or use public transportation fuck paying that much for a car and gas I pay $100 for insurance and ~$50 for gas per month
Well with a car worth that much, I would just stay with your insurance. I have started out with "ok" cars that i plan on building up to be pretty cool. (much later down the line) And as far as I can tell the insurance company doesnt cover custom parts. But a stock (?) vehicle worth that much is worth it. Also i pay over $100 a month for gas. [editline]9th December 2010[/editline]
It's a joke! No wonder so many people drive without insurance. The biggest culprit for our higher insurance price is you Americans I'm afriad, well not directly. But your sueing culture has reached the UK and now everyone who's involved in a crash will claim they have whiplash and sue for at least £2000 which is paid by insurance companies and unfortunatley these costs have gotta be recovered by charging such high premiums. It's so common, I know 2 friends who have put in a bogus claim and received the money no questions asked! I fucking hate these parasite, ambulance chasing personal injury solicitors, they are costing the UK a fortune!
Hey not all of us are like that. I was just in an accident wher a guy rear ended me. i had two passengers. One messed up his knee to where he couldnt walk right for a day and the other lightly hit his head on the passenger seat. We could have sued the guy that hit me for eveything he owned. But as soon as he got out of his car he asked if we were ok. It wasnt his fault really. A guy on a motor cycle crashed a couple cars ahead and I had to swerve into the oncoming lane to miss the car infront of me. He was a cool guy and there wasnt a point in suing him. Screw the Americas who try to make money off of false injuries. :arghfist::mad:
I think i have well enough power under my hood for quick overtaking and i'm probably usually going faster than you as well with this whole Autobahn thing we got here. Added FoxDonuT and Prismatex to the OP

He's estimates and files claims or works in the body shop (switches.) Story time, folks. He said this one black woman comes into the place wanting to file a claim. She said she was "hit" in a parking lot. She also mentioned that she has been to the doctor and was suffering from severe whip lash. While the lady was grabbing her neck and moaning from the pain, he asks her to show him the damage so they could get an estimate. So he goes out and discovers... there's a fucking scratch about 3 inches long the quarter panel. :what: Total job estimation: No more than $25 with labor added What the lady wanted out of the whole thing: 5 grand Another one was where this one black lady also said she was suffering from trauma... neck brace, walker... all that jazz. After talking to my cousin she get's down on her hands and knees begging for justice and claim money because she can't pay her hospital bills. Being funny as fuck, his boss tries to snap a picture threw his office window. The lady saw him, jumps up, runs over, and starting screaming at him. Yea, you sure are hurting real bad lady. Let's just say he notified the insurance company and called the police. And some think we say all these stereotypical and racist things for no apparent reason? There's a good reason right there. He said that's all they wine about down there... getting their stuff fixed for free.

That's a V70 though which makes it even more awesome. :h:
It's an XC70, actually. AWD and some mild off-road capability. Also, maybe highlight people's names in the OP who have been here since thread #1? Here's the list of those who posted in that thread: http://www.facepunch.com/misc.php?do=whoposted&t=763968 /elitist [editline]9th December 2010[/editline] Oh, and I can't legally drive it until I bring the plates to the DMV to get it registered. Pain in the ass.
Oh yes i see, the snow made it kind of difficult. Hmm i'm not in the list although i could've sworn i posted there. Well whatevs.
Hey fellas. We're looking to buying a new family car, but have absolutely no idea what to get. Well since this is a thread on cars I was hoping you'd have some advice. We're just looking for a normal car, not some sports car, SUV, or mini-van or something, but I have no idea which cars are good, and which are bad. The maximum price is around 20.000-10.000 euros.
everyone post their monthly insurance rate
I paid off my insurance in one go, but i worked it out that my monthly rate would be around £400(And I'm 18) .
Yeah i figured then by the plastic wheel arches. Also kickin rad headlight wipers.
Hell yeah. It's got a rear fog light that the manual says not to use in anything but really snowy/rainy weather. Of course, I plan on ignoring this and letting loose on tailgaters.
this is the reason why safe drivers pay a fuckton of money, those who are unsafe and have written off cars simply don`t say anything or try to cheat their way out so everyone gets fucked because of it
woah, that's a little harsh, calling someone out like that? Are you not with me on the failed drifters list? Maybe I should say that you should gtfo the road because you'll jack up my rates. Just because someones car got written off doesn't necessarily mean they are a bad or dangerous driver. Hell, drive a cheap enough car and a new bumper replacement could be more than 50% of the cars book value, hence totaled. And wouldn't that be saving you money? I mean he could have got like $10,000 out of the insurance company for the car but he decided he'd forget that to save $50 a month.

I'm at a total standstill. After monday, all mechanical issues with my car will be resolved, and now that I've got it lowered, I just don't know what to do with it. What're some cheap mods?
