then it will look like a ricer
Isn't that what they look like with the hubcaps off anyways? Except black? So take your hubcaps off and paint them silver or something similar.
If I were to put in, say the VTi engine (Same as SIR in USA i think) 1,6 VTEC into my car, and the police caught me, they'd confiscate my car untill I'd paid the registration tax that the 1,6 VTi model has, even though mine only would have the engine from it. I don't know how much it is, but it's more than $5000.

parents gave me $80 for gas and ticket to see it sunday but the stadium ceiling collapsed so it got switched to detroit and tickets were free... i decided a basically free roadtrip was never out of the question, gas between the 4 of us was about 50 a piece, and food was whatever we bought, i dont think i even spent the 80... had nothing else going on, why not?

I retract my statement
i wouldnt if they hadnt given me the money, football isnt important to me really, but the hangin out with friends was awesome, and seeing a game blazed on detroit dank was amazing... good thing my panzee, "i have a job with possible piss tests" friend took the first shift behind the wheel... minnesota has some shitty weed... but on topic, that focus was a lot nicer than i expected it to be, i thought it was just some plastic econo-box, it stood up pretty well and we had a lot of fun in it too
we had a lot of fun in it too
:gooncamp:
nah, it wasn't a basketball tournament... fuckin roadtrip man, and besides, a focus doesnt have the space for that shit
nah, it wasn't a basketball tournament... fuckin roadtrip man, and besides, a focus doesnt have the space for that shit
hahah fair enough
road trips are hella fun, except when you`re the driver it gets pretty annoying after a few hours without stopping
cramps n shit
exactly, but then there is also the comfort of saying i'm the driver so i need my seat back, my one friend is 6'8 and needed a LOT of space, other friend is 6'2 and i am 6'3... that leaves one friend who is about 5'9, the car was always cramped so i enjoyed the luxury as it was in this situation
Why do americans all drive automatics? An american once told me that it'd be too hard to learn in a manual, but that's bullshit as about 95% of people here do.
it depends on where you live but a lot of people are just city drivers, that and too lazy, they would rather spend the money on gas in their auto then take time to learn and enjoy knowing what it's really like to drive with a manual

Or because everyone knows semi-automatics are the best :smug:
if you have a new enough car maybe, but i drive a 94...

I've always wondered that. I was stuck with an auto from a rental company in Spain, A Vauxhall Astra 1.8, it was OK at best, terrible at pulling away, always in the wrong gear going up hills (when you see the roads in Spain you'll know how annoying this is) and in semi-auto mode the response to change gear was shit. Plus I hear a lot about autoboxes overheating on a lot of cars when you hoon it regularly. I can imagine an autobox working in a genuine performance car but your average auto is shit, good for comfort and laziness I suppose but shit for practicality.
I have to learn auto because my parents both know auto, but i'd learn on manual in a heartbeat if i could :(
There isn't much to learn with an auto.
There isn't much to learn with an auto.
Well I mean like learning to drive in general, practicing for drivers test etc
Well I mean like learning to drive in general, practicing for drivers test etc
What does the average driver's test consist of over there? I've heard some people on here saying they literally drove round the block, a couple of turns, parked up and that was it. That can't be the case though.

Well I dunno im from Canada and there are a lot of bad drivers around here and most of my friends say it's easy. I got 10 months before I can take the test for my class 5.

Ah, I see. I remember being way more stressed out when I first started driving. I feel like the mandatory hours of driving experience (not sure how it works elsewhere, but here we have to log like 30-something hours of driving with a license-holder in the passenger seat) for the license is just to get people accustomed to going 55MPH & get us to the point where we forget that the slightest mistake/accident could turn us into a pile of dead, broken guts & bones.
I did this "learning" in an automatic, too, btw. Then, two years later, my girlfriend taught me how to drive a manual in her 69 VW bug, which was a pain in the ass but still a great experience. Although I still can't drive a manual too well, tbh.

My test, in Colorado, was a little over a mile. Went through a stop sign, stop light, did a left & right turn, changed lanes a couple times, and parked (not parallel).
But it really depends on where you take your test. All my girlfriend had to do to get her driver's license was a 3-point turn. She is, by the way, a horrible driver.
There's also a lot of stuff you have to do leading up to the actual driver's exam, though. Mostly depending on your age, I believe. If you're under 18, you have to log 30-50 hours (I can't remember exactly how many, now) of driving experience that you had with a licensed adult in the car, and pass a multiple-choice driving test, and obviously vision examinations.
I had to get 7 hours of driving, and 7 hours of observing someone else drive. it was spread out over 14 days. and before that bit i took a 6 month long drivers ed class in school.

cuz americans are dumb and the downfall of your country

So you base all your opinions of automatic transmissions on a single car you drove?

Here, once you turn 15 you can get your permit, and 16 your license. You're supposed to have like 20 hours behind the wheel but I had maybe five at most when I took my test. Test consisted of driving around for 10 minutes while the instructor told you were to go making sure you were properly using all singals and what not. At one point she had me stop in a open street and back up to make sure I did the arm over the passenger seat dealio. Then we parallel parked in a designated spot. I aced it my first try since I had practiced at home, but the person before my somehow ended up perpendicular to the curb.
